    Dr. Jazayeri even though I can’t stop myself from crying while I’ve been watching all you’re videos today. You have at least clarified and validated all my thoughts and feelings. I say to anyone do anything and everything to keep you’re natural god given teeth. I, unfortunately was told I had so much work needed to be done I was better off pulling them all and have beautiful dentures n smile. I wish I had found UA-cam back then in 2019. Since 2019 I only leave my house to take my elderly parents to their doctor appointments and procedures. I’m absolutely miserable the entire time til I can get back in the car just so I can take these awful dentures out. I used to be so involved with family and friends now I don’t have any friends, I still have my amazing family with three amazing grown sons. Although they understand why I won’t go anywhere or out to dinner or even to their homes for dinner. I can’t eat no matter what I try, since day one they have never stayed in place whatsoever. I went to my first appt approximately 6 weeks as directed the Dr.’s actual words were know wondering they won’t stay in your mouth, it has shrunk so, so much, more than I’ve ever seen on anyone. He said I just need to realign them, I got them later that day, yes of course the were smaller, much smaller however they would just not stay. I could feel my mouth with the glue, powder glue you name it I tired them all. I continued to go back for alignments another realign that they charged me for. Here I am still June 2023 sitting in my home hiding out. I was always confident and happy with the person I was. Now I won’t even look in a mirror I look so old now, I’ve lost my facial structure, I’ve lost everything. I have three amazing son’s with my middle one being the first to get married in November 2023. I honestly don’t know how I can do this. There is going to be lots of family, friends, new-in-laws to meet. Yes I’ve only meet them once over FaceTime because I have always declined going to my son’s home to have dinner with them all. I never in my life would have ever thought something that seems so superficial as my looks, teeth stoping me from doing anything until it happens to you. I think what you are doing here sharing your knowledge, making sure people are fully informed is an amazing thing for you to do. I would never wish for anyone to ever go through and experience what I have. I know there are others and those ones are the only ones that truly understand how life altering this is. You are truly a good man keep doing what you are doing for others. P.s your office is where my favorite beach I went to all my life growing up well and of course Huntington because it was so close. 😜🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

      Hi there. Thank you for sharing your story! Wow, that is tough. I hate it when patients run into this problem. Sadly, most dentists who don't perform dental implants have a hard time determining when it is time to move on from dentures and have the dental implant discussion. They keep relining the denture, redoing them, etc. However, if you just can't wear your denture, you just can't! Did you look into the option of adding a few dental implants to convert your dentures into a snap on denture? 99% of patients are candidates for this treatment. If you had your teeth removed just a few years ago, you are almost definitely a candidate. Again, your dentist may have told you "No, you don't have enough bone for implants", but they could be wrong. It's worth getting a second opinion from a dentist who does lots of dental implants. Also, feel free to post your X-ray here (Panoramic X-ray) so that I can give you an idea of which route you should go. Again, very sorry to hear about your situation. There is a solution out there, I hope you can find a solution sooner than later!

    I'd rather afford an implant instead of dentures. My mom had all her teeth or most of them extracted while she was in her 40's and forced to wear Government dentures, which was a sad situation, in my opinion.

      Hi Grace. I'm glad that you found my videos helpful. How was the tooth extraction process? From experience, I know that removing all of your teeth is not as painful as most patients think it is. Did you go under sedation or where you awake? How does the temporary denture fit? Good luck with your permanent teeth and I hope they fit very well and you're happy with them!

    Hi doc, I’ve really been enjoying your videos. I’ve been wearing a partial denture for missing four consecutive teeth between a wisdom tooth and an eye tooth in my upper left jaw for about 3 months now. I can’t say that I enjoy wearing it but getting used to it. Recently I had a consult with an implant surgeon for possible implants to get rid of the denture but a lateral sinus lift and bone graft procedure kind of scares me. I think it could be too risky for me, I am 65.

    • @johnjazayeri
      @johnjazayeri  Рік тому +4

      Hi Andrew. Lol, I understand your concern. This is a pretty serious surgery. However, it is also a routine one. Most surgeons have done hundreds of these surgeries. Just be sure to take the procedure seriously and closely follow the instructions. This means taking the antibiotics beforehand, avoiding sneezing/coughing, not to fly, avoiding strenuous exercises, etc. If you do these things, expect about a week of pain followed by a few weeks of discomfort. If you don't follow instructions, this could result in months of aggravation, multiple rounds of antibiotics/ steroids, referrals to the ENT, etc.

    I'm getting full extraction in a month. I'm not getting immediate dentures. Or at least not right away. I'm trying to save for them. I figure 2 or 3 months after the full extraction

      Hi. Great decision. Immediate dentures are great if you must have teeth in your mouth at all times. If you can only afford one set of dentures, I would avoid immediate dentures. Wait a month for your gums and bones to heal, and then start your permanent set of dentures. Good luck!

    What I like about my VAL PLAST dentures. I can chew corn on the cob, steak and crusty bread. Most importantly, I have a tooth that is sitting all alone in the back of my mouth. It was sitting there for a few years. It began to WOBBLE back and forth and side to side. I thought I was going to lose it. After wearing my dentures for a few months. The tooth started firming up. All the tissue keeping it in place has grown back and strengthened.

    • @johnjazayeri
      @johnjazayeri  Рік тому +1

      Hi Ernest. It's true that wearing a well-fitting partial can tighten up your remaining teeth. The partial takes the pressure off the remaining teeth to stabilize them. The clip holds the teeth in place to strengthen them. Still, don't assume that your partial denture has fixed your remaining teeth! You should remove the partials at nights and clean your remaining teeth very thoroughly. Don't forget, it's very difficult to add teeth to Valplast dentures. If you lose any of your teeth, you may have to get a new one. Anyways, I'm glad you're doing so well with your Valplasts. Thanks for sharing!

    • @johnjazayeri
      @johnjazayeri  Рік тому +1

      Hi. Polident is used to clean dentures and break down the calcified buildups. Polident does have some strong chemical ingredients. Therefore, you should clean your dentures thoroughly after applying Polident and before wearing them. Don't overuse it either. Once or twice a month should be sufficient. Poliygrip and Fixodent are denture glues. These are generally safer than Polident. Be sure to get the Zinc free version. Again, if you are using a ton of denture glue, they could cause some medial issues over the long-term. If this applies to you, you might want to consider your other options (new denture, denture reline, implants to support dentures) instead of applying a ton of glue all throughout the day.

    Does wearing dentures help with bone resorption? One dentist on UA-cam said they cause 2% faster resorption. But I feel like he was trying to sell implants. I’ve spent so much already. I can’t afford anything else and I’m so scared I’ll end up with not enough bone to support dentures.

    • @johnjazayeri
      @johnjazayeri  3 місяці тому +1

      Hi Verna. Wearing dentures does not help with bone preservation. In fact, wearing dentures accelerates bone loss and damages the gum tissue over time. When you lose a tooth, you continue to lose bone no matter what. If you place a dental implant, then that specific region with the implant screw will not lose more bone. Everywhere else will continue losing bone over the years/decades. Get your dentures when you can afford them. Or save up and get implants in the future. But no, don't worry about losing bone because you don't have dentures, that is not true. Good luck!

    I heard good things about dentures and i have read very negative comments about dentures. I have seen and heard great things about implants and i have seen and read horror stories about implants that went bad. So its a toss up. I dont know what to think.

      Hi Calvin. I agree with you. I have patients who do very well with their dentures. My dad is one of them. He has a pair of full dentures and despite me offering to do his implants for free, he has no desire for them. He eats and chews everything as if he had actual teeth. Then there are those who can't stand their dentures and want to rip them out of their mouths and throw their false teeth in the garbage can! I made a video to explain what makes someone do well with their dentures or not, check it out if you have the time: ua-cam.com/video/amk26LYyoHU/v-deo.html
      As far as dental implants go, almost anyone who gets implants is happy with the end results. Exceptions are those whose implants fail or those who suffer through lots of pain and complications. However, almost everyone who gets a successful dental implant is happy with the end result. Check out my video on the benefits of dental implants to better understand why they are worth the price: ua-cam.com/video/rNN6KRAgoVI/v-deo.html

    Hello Dr. will you please share how sleeping in dentures causes further, quicker bone loss please?

    • @johnjazayeri
      @johnjazayeri  Рік тому +1

      Hi there. I compare sleeping in dentures to sleeping with your shoes on! Your mouth needs rest and oxygen. Sleeping with dentures causes your gums to turn red and inflamed. It also puts extra pressure on the jawbone which causes the bone to resorb faster. Basically, removing the dentures at nights doubles its life expectancy. The tissue heals better, your denture is less likely to break, teeth wear flat faster, etc. So yeah, remove your dentures when you sleep. Best of luck!

      @@johnjazayeriI have one question concerning that topic:if it 's "not good "to wear dentures over night, because of the pressure on the bone-:don 't "all on 4's,6"-apply the same pressure to the bone?!?-And:would a hybrid of "German dentures ",-which I have, cause I'm German 😁"- and one or 2 implants be a good option?

    How long will it take for my dentures to feel comfortable and natural?

    • @johnjazayeri
      @johnjazayeri  5 місяців тому

      Hi there. New denture wearers typically need a few months to get used to their new teeth. You may have to see your dentist several times for denture adjustments during this time period. Of course, not everyone is able to get used to wearing dentures. If you fall into this category, then you may have to look into getting dental implants instead. Best of luck, and I hope you get used to your dentures sooner than later!

      Hi Jean. I'm so sorry for the bad news. Keep in mind, dentures are almost never your only solution in these day and age. I am 99% certain you're able to get dental implants down the line. Of course, that can get costly and complicated and not everyone can afford dental implants. If this is really true, I suggest you go on and get your dentures. If you get used to them, great. If not, then check out my other videos to learn more about your options involving dental implants. Good luck with your treatment!
