What do you say on the opinion that water harvesting and percolation in the soil support small water cycle ? I cant say if these practice in australian farm ponds is good but West India farmers use similar water harvesting techniques. But they build smaller ponds and also the contour trenches and small holes in the soil. Anothe example - people in the african sahel belt dig also the holes named zai and demi lunes in the soil. Sahel and west india precipitations are usually 300-500 mm per year.
As far as I know Indian soil is very productive and the life cycle is longer too.
great video, but I'm wondering, is it only during floods that this diversion from the natural river systems occurs? And if there is a flood don't the rivers flood as well? I"m still fuzzy as to how capturing rain water, flood water etc impacts so greatly on river levels and contributes to river levels. I understand the impact of drawing out water from the river for irrigation, but floodplain harvesting is a new concept to me! I'd like to know more!
Watch videos on permaculture on you tube. Some foundations have done very good job in India. It’s known as Paani Foundation , their projects were huge successful in those regions where they are away from river catchment areas.

@@pjaro77 Volunteers should try in NT and North Queensland, it will reap huge yield. I wish Australia become self sufficient and doesn’t sell its land to foreign cultivators
