A cool vid as always George putting out good info. I have a 13 gal pot with only 120 available. So it takes me all day but it works and low and slow is the only option I have lol. I do have a propane burner but I dont mind spending the time with the undersized element.
First like. I use an induction plate with a steel plate on my copper 10 gallon still. Works great. No fumes or flame. Great control of temperature too. Got it on Amazon.
I have an 8 gal pot and an induction stove top. I have considered using a stainless steel plate but on the inside and slightly elevated 1/8''to increase convection. Thoughts?
Thanks George!!! I'm learning and refining........ PID control has given me so much more control and ease of operation and I'm inspired to make more improvements in this hobby that gives back!! 🤣 Is it worth insulating the boiler pot with a blanket to reduce thermal losses to the atmosphere or is this simply a "fact of life" and an important part of the magic that happens inside the boiler component of the still?
You spying on me George? Haha I was talking about this less than an hour ago. I recently switched from propane to electric. My Btus are significantly lower now, but controlling the temp is no longer an issue. I feel that it was a worthwhile sacrifice so far. Saturday will be only my 2nd run since the switch. I was considering preheating the mash to something around 100f before adding it to the pot still.
@@davidrogers6262 I think it will save me a lot of time. I have a small setup, so I'm usually doing 2 stripping runs then a final spirit run. So in a day I end up going from room temp to distilling temps 3 times. By the end of the 1st time I've cleaned and put away my tools plus swept the floor. After that... its just staring at a thermometer.

Good to see you again, I was getting worried for you.
All I'm hearing about covid in USA is that its getting out of hand.
I love your classroom approach, it makes it so much easier to quickly get it right!
Thank You!
Great to see you back, happy new year.
Master George spreading and distilling science in the best interest of knowledge!!!! Thx George!!!!
George, I’ve struggled with this for years! I’m really looking forward to part 2
Welcome back! Nice clear discussion of some complex science!
I really injoy your videos. They are so inlighting an packed with knowledge. Thank You.
We missed you George!!
Hey George, good to see you back. I asked B&B if you were ok.
Great to have you back George missed your videos 👍
I was so inspired by your videos that I am now distilling

Thank you Georg. As always, you have taught me something that I an use to determine the efficiency of the still that I am creating.
It takes exactly as long as your combination should take. Good video George.
Thanks George for all your insight.

@@mushroomman1856 copper will not heat up on an induction top. You need the steel plate.
I got both induction top and plate on Amazon

Hey George, glad to see you back in action :-)
Great to see you again. Happy new year bud!
Happy to see you again, George!!!
I'm glad your back making video was worried about you and your family.
I HOPE YOU TALK/ TOUCH ON INDUCTION STOVETOPS. Randy from PA.
Thanks George!!!

Heating mine right now. Do we add salt to make it heat up quicker lol

That sounds like a great idea preheating to 100.

New to your channel. Very informative. Thank you. Is your website down? I can't get on it.
Could you build a still that is like a double boiler pot?

I'll find out soon, right after I finish my PID 😉 And I'm getting close, lol... Thanks George ! 🥃 #HAPPYDISTILLING
Build complete ! Set and tested, seems to be fully functional 😁 Thanks again George. I could have never done it without ya !! 🥃
