Lake Lanier levels down to their lowest in about 6 years because of drought conditions

  • If you’ve been anywhere around Lake Lanier, you’ve no doubt seen something we haven’t seen in about six years - a rocky shoreline. The water level is down about seven feet because of the drought impacting Georgia right now.

    I tried to go up there this summer heard nothing but three people died in that lake. I’m good.

      They jumped into the water drunk and couldn't swim. That's what happens to every person who drowns there.

      It’s a numbers game…11 million people live in the area and recreate there. I’ve been there nearly 50 years, never had an incident.

      @@teresajones6769 They were drunk. Jumped into the water and got caught in the vines and tree limbs in the water. I've been there plenty of times and you will not want to jump into that water unless you're drunk. There's only a few places you can safely swim there. That lake is not made for swimming. Only boating.

    I mean it wasn't supposed to be a lake to begin with. It's just going back to its natural state. Not to mention the dark history about wussy happened to the black town that was there.

    THAT WHOLE MAN MADE LAKE IS A CITY ONE OF WHICH IS CALLED " OSCARVILLE" THERE ARE CEMETERIES,, STORES,,,HOMES ALL UNDER THAT WATER....OH DID I MENTION ITS HAUNTED...KEEP GOING IN THAT WATER THOSE AFRICAN SPIRITS ARE VERY UPSET

      It's a water reservoir. It wasn't built for swimming. I've been boating and fishing there plenty of times since the 70's and never had a problem.

      70% of metro Atlanta depends on Lake Lanier. We have over 6 million people here

      ​@@nubianking4203so what, the Natives who built Oscarville were "supposed" to be murdered or be run outta town for modern citizens/ visitors to have better water? No, there were other solutions but this is what the racists who created this "lake" chose. The Most High nor the ancestors are pleased.

    More water usage where they put up compact, high density apartments - everywhere. Lakes can also be drained by the army corps of engineers.

    I wonder if the white descendants of those who created Lake Lanier are affected by just drinking the water from there. The Black Indigenous ancestors who thrived in Oscarville are not at rest.
