      There are many fleets running old Boeing and Airbus narrow body fleets that have been flogged like buses. This is the last jet transition before any more radical design and allow for SAF fuel as a blend now and pure SAF in future

    Boeing should have just marketed an exclusive model for KLM - the 737 - MAX - Verstappen. They would have definitely filled the order books with that

      any old aircraft will have issues such as old airframe etc, the reason the A320 has less crashes is because the 737 came out in late 60's, a year where commercial jet aviation was new. compared to the A320 1984 which came in a time where aviation was more advanced.

    • @miks564
      @miks564 Місяць тому +1

      @@OfficialDoggyYT Not really.
      A320 are much safer planes because they’re modern redundant fly by wire machines with many software protections since the first day they were introduced back in the late 80s.
      A Max is still the old cables and pulleys concept. It’s the oldest tech aircraft Boeing still produces, it doesn’t even feature a EICAS, something even 757 and 767 already have.
      Except for the Max (because MCAS), 737s are good reliable planes, but they’re like a good vehicle from the 70s restored with more modern and efficient engines.

    • @OfficialDoggyYT
      @OfficialDoggyYT Місяць тому +1

      @@miks564 exactly what I said, the A320 came out in a time where commercial jet aviation was somewhat new, the technological advanced etc, you just proved my point. If it was the other way around you can bet the A320 would have more crashes

      Not to forget that the Airbus planes (except the 220 which probably will be overhaled soon) can be flown with minimal training on each type.
      That is waht Boing tried to do with the MCA sor their 737 and the new Max planes.
      They failed to do it successfully because tey were to cheap and did not do it properly.
      People died due to this.
      I would not fly a Boeing for the foreseeable future-except the 747.
      That is so old, it has matured enough to work.

    Come on, right now you gotta be really confident to fly new Boeing planes given all that has spilled out of their backyard. I certainly avoid the MAX and will keep doing that for many years. The fact that the producer basically lied to the operators and the authorities is brutal and reduces to zero the confidence. The NEO has simply bigger+more efficient engines, and for a few generations this has been enough to compel operators to new planes, since fuel is their biggest spending. The NEO with its fuel efficiency is like a Small Dreamliner or A350, very suitable to long point to point routes.

    It's also fair to add that Boeing has been forced into slowing down it's operations by the FAA who unsurprisingly wants to keep a closer eye on how the American company goes about their business and so Boeing aren't able to fulfill their orders as quickly.
    The knock-on effect of this is that some airlines will look elsewhere.
    KLM has already bought several Embraer airliners and are currently replacing their 737s with a321neo as you have touched on.
    They have also ordered several a350 to replace their Dreamliners but delivery isn't until 2026 for these long-haul airliners.

      @@FLIGAVIA Flew with TAP on 330 and 321, and i was surprised by this aircraft. (had to book extra legroom tho). Was quiet, could have a solid rest on a long haul flight. With KLM's friendly staff i possibly would choose for them. And sometimes you can have really good deals with KLM, even tho they are mostly a bit on the high price. But you get what you pay for... KLM is solid good.

    Boeing has neglected to design a new aircraft and has always added new parts to the 737, which originally dates from 1967, until they were left with an outdated aircraft to which no more parts could be added. All this to please the shareholder, because developing a new aircraft costs a lot of money, and now, they have been sideways passed by Airbus, who are bringing a new aircraft. So the shareholders are shooting in their own foot.

    Plus the engines can't run in synthetic aviation fuel SAF. It's main Dutch hub wants to cut flights but not passengers, so "bigger" planes need to be ordered now for definite delivery while cutting costs so that a bigger seat capacity plane can run with less passengers at the same profit margin. It may also be an indication that Airbus pilots are "easier" to recruit. Mostly is frustrated Boeing has as this will add to KLMs cost in having two fleet types even if the 787 would be less efficient on paper

    Sign of the times , Boeing current issues started many years ago , I just watched a TV aircraft investigation involving Boeing complacency many years ago . Boeing could fold as an aircraft manufacturer I believe. They have themselves to blame . Boeing using an updated aircraft based on the old 737 , they can not complete with airbus , providing new and better aircraft . If it a Boeing I am not going , if I flying Boeing I may end up going ! Reputation is vital for survival in the airline industry.

      And let’s also not forget the aspect that Schiphol is requiring reduced noise levels from airlines to resolve or at least accommodate long lasting complaints about too high noise levels from people living in the vicinity of Schiphol Airport. As due to the expansions over the years -both of Schiphol and of the built up / housing areas surrounding the airport- noise pollution had become and still remains to be an also politically sensitive issue.

    Boeing is a classic example of what happens to a company when the bean counters assume the power, in this case, instead of design and engineering calling the shots. Hunger for short term gain overlooks the potential for long term pain. The MAX is not the only problem in the Boeing camp. The 787 line in Alabama is also suffering quality issues. I wouldn't be surprised if KL eventually replaces their 78-9 fleet with A350s.

At the end of the day Boeing used to make great products. They have lost their way. Airbus have made their mistakes that’s true, but nothing on Boeing’s scale.
