This Zelda was always my favorite. It was one of the first games I ever had and actually beat as a teen in the 90s and I still play it once a year all the way through.
Born in 1989. Have had at least one of the systems in each generation since the SNES. This is still one of my favorite games of all time.

Gave this a thumbs up - it 100% works on the SNES online version for the switch and it is super easy to use save states to get the 4 perfect mirror swaps - still took about 15-20 mins total but totally painless overall - thank you !!!

This game is my favorite SNES game of all time. I sit here and wonder how people figured this and other glitches. I'll be trying this glitch but on real hardware.
I'm having a tough time getting through the skulls, I keep timing it too late so I'm using save states as well. I appreciate your commentary during that part. 🤗
You can do this the same way in the gba version too. Just a slightly different way, there is also a mirror clipping glitch that causes a similar glitch when you jump and save in mid air in the snes version

It worked! It took many tries, but it worked! Also, if you get this before the master sword, your sword level will drop to 2 when you get the master sword. If that happens, no worries, just visit the sword smiths again. They will take it right back to level 3! Awesome!
I discovered an amazing glitch in Zelda:Link's Awakening. It allows you to hop all over the entire island before you should be allowed to.
If you can access the moonpearl, you can get off the mountain alot easier using boots.
Then, if you have a bottle, you can skip that mirror glitch at the frog, but use a bottle instead. Which looks even more glitchy

Great video sir! Just worked for me pretty quickly on the 3ds. I always have trouble with the death mountain boss. With the tempered sword, it took 3 hits with no "fast phase". I'm doing this every time from now on lol.
I finally did it. I did it on my super nes mini I bought. It took so many attempts to the around the skulls (a whole day of attempts and leaving the console on all night) wishing the whole time I could emulator save like him. But after a slow motion video on my phone i saw the pattern of bunny link and saw that the foot goes twice then on the 3rd step he jumps in a fluid motion. After that it was just just getting the timing of a quick 1,2, push. It works on the mini just be patient and carefully do each step he is saying.

I am gonna try this on the switch. You can create suspend points anytime you want in the game so I might be able to do something similar to him

HEY, IT WORKED! I was able to make this work on my switch virtual console. So hilarious to get it early. My next level was the titan glove level but I didn't want to wait. Super cool. Thanks!
Also you can just use cheat codes lol so you don’t have to work as hard for it

Hey, i have been trying to do the same thing but can't make it work, when I teleport to Dark world it come back automatically to the light world, help!!
I got the frog rescue sequence to work on my SNES (original USA cartridge) after about 20 minutes of experimentation. The key to the timing seems to be the bassline of the dark world music (bunny overworld theme, same as in your video). Pressing left and then pressing Y exactly 2 sixteenth notes later is just the ticket (DOO-da-DA-da-da-da-da-da).
Found a easy way on 3ds to do this, select buffer. Make sure to have mirror equipped.
1.Walk to the ledge all the way then stop.
2. Press select to bring up save menu and hold left.
3. Press start while holding left and immediately press select again (IMMEDIATELY IS STRESSED HERE. )
Link will already have taken two steps toward the ledge if above steps are followed.
While still holding left and continue game highlighted you can close the menu and use the mirror right before link jumps by pressing Y fast and repeatedly.
Not sure if this was already know but I got the idea from pause buffering but this is easier imo.
This might work well on SNES. I'll have to go dig mine out and try it.

If you take the tempered sword back to the dark world, you can go into level 3 and use it to kill things. bunny link behaves quite oddly... he can run, he can pick things up (but not carry them... you immediately throw whatever you pick up), open chests and doors, etc. but these abilities are unstable and can go away without warning. thanks for sharing this glitch, I'm having a lot of fun with it
this is called superbunny if anybody wants to research it further. it's a common speedrun strat for glitched routes and yes, behaves very strangely
Also you can use a cheat code to get it all the swords
I always get the moon pearl before using the glitch that way I can at least use the boomerang on the enemies

you can skip lanmolas after getting the gloves in desert AND moldorm after getting the moon pearl. sure you only have 5 hearts but you can use this time to ALSO get the flute early so you can have flute and tempered even before doing PoD

Is the master sword needed then? Can the tempered sword break the seal on hyrule castle or does the sword need to be level 2? If you get the master sword regardless can you retemper?
Breaking the seal at Hyrule Castle is a story event, that enemy is considered impenetrable until after you do the Master Sword quest.
One day I tryed to just pick every big chest of all Dark World Dungeons, only to get the yellow sword. And try to kill every boss with it.
So, if you do this before getting the Master Sword, and then go and get the Master Sword, do you still wield the tempered sword, or does your weapon switch?
It will downgrade it to the Master Sword at that point. But you can just go back to the dwarfs and forge it back into the tempered sword immediately thereafter.
@Joshua Fischer Hey, you get to fight Moldorm with the Tempered Sword. That has to be a plus.
@Joshua Fischer I was under the impression that once you bring the dwarf back to his partner, he doesn't leave. Wouldn't that mean you don't have to do the glitch again? You just have to go to the dwarves again and pay another 10 rupees. Then you have the sword for all the Dark World dungeons, too.
@Joshua Fischer The way I understand this, "programming correcting the glitch" implies that Nintendo knew about it, but didn't bother fixing it. From what I've observed of the games industry, that attitude's more of a modern thing...
I mainly thought that the dwarf stays with his partner because of Kethinov's comment above. To be honest, I haven't performed this glitch either (yet - it seems like a fun way to enjoy LttP), so I can't be sure it works the way I think it does.
@@hostiusasinhostilityhostil7853 the reason they didn't fix this because it is pretty fun. In reality, developers are lot more smarter than people thinks. They knew about game mechanics because they are the one who made it. That's why they also knew about different possibilities from that mechanics and glitches you can get from it. They mostly leave it because they think it is fun and difficult enough for people for not really game breaking. There is also super Metroid where developers knew about mechanics of speed booster from abusing speed booster counter. They intentionally make it like that so that people can find a way to charge shinespark in less distance by finding this inner mechanic of super Metroid but they didn't tell it about in game itself. This could also be true about mockball but it is also possible to be not. It could possible they realise this interesting exploit from speed booster counter after they make this mechanic and decided to retain it because it is fun or possibly they make it like that for that reason in the first place. But they definitely knew about this simple exploit of speed booster counter.
But that means that his partner was locked up in dark world a very long time...?

Who in the hell figured this out for the first time? And what happens when you get the Master Sword, does it remain tempered or do you have to go back to the blacksmiths and can you even have it tempered twice?

Yes, but the sword smiths will temper your sword again.
Amazing. I’m just playing LttP with my daughter and had no idea you could do this. I’m curious though, after getting the tempered sword before the master sword, once you get the master sword, would it reset back to that, and therefore down grade the sword?
Yes it will downgrade it, but you can just go back to the dwarfs and upgrade it again.
Has anyone gotten this to work withbthe Switch online version? Whenever I get my rabbit version onto the ledge, it automatically teleports back to the light world without me using the mirror

I used to spend hours on trying to explore as much as possible of the world map while I was in bunny form.
Doesn't work the Portal stays where it is if you get auto-transfered to the different world

I think getting the master sword won't 'overrule' the tempered sword. But I'll have to try it to be sure.
Still there isn't no real (time)benefit from this glitch (I really like it though!) for me personally. After Palace of Darkness for the hammer, I will complete Thieves Town first. And then, with the Titan's Mitts, you can power up your sword and other stuff very fast.
It does overrule it. I just tried it out, but then realized it doesn't matter since you can just go back to temper it for a second time.

this is actually very cool, scary, and beautiful… dark world death mountain was already super scary as it was, the fact that you can glitch into the bloody lava parts and then jump of the ledge of mountain is something out of a nightmare

December 19th 2021 I can confirm this works on switch. It’s much easier than a Snes pc emulator due to the rewind feature. Try it yourselves next time.

Took me at least 30 minutes.
Since this gives you the tempered sword even though you didn't give the blacksmiths the master sword, does this mean that the fairy in the pyramid will give you the golden sword even if you don't have the tempered sword yet? I mean, there's no reason _not_ to already have the tempered sword unless you're skipping around, but I was thinking of passing up on the tempered sword next time I play, just as an experiment.
If you complete certain two dungeons in the dark world first, then yes.
If you have lvl 3 sword then get the master sword will you lose the lvl 3 sword?

My question is you're getting the level 3 sword when you have a level 1 sword what happens when you get the level 2 sword after you get the level 3 do you lose the tempered sword and get the level 2 sword cuz that would suck cuz then you'd have to wait to get the level 4 sword
you need the level 2 sword to get the level 3 sword
I LIKE BREAD watch this video again in the main menu on the bottom right he has the level 1 sword not the level 2 but the level one and when he gets it he has a level 3 skipping a level 2 it's like he opened up the menu screen on purpose before giving the sword watch it and see what the sword level is on the bottom right and then he gets the tempered sword any opens up the mail again on purpose and you'll see it's a level 3 but what happens when you get the level 2 sword do you prevent yourself from getting a level 3 or does it just stay the level 3 that's what I'm asking
Yes, it goes straight from level 1 to level 3. When you "upgrade" to the Master Sword later in the game after getting all the pendants, it will downgrade you from the level 3 sword to the level 2 sword. However, you can immediately re-upgrade the sword back to level 3 by visiting the dwarves again, who will forge it back to level 3.

So using this you can beat the Hyrule Castle tower dungeon before beating Molduga. Weird.
But then pulling the master sword would mean that u have basically a level 4 sword
It unfortunately doesn't work that way. If you do this and then get the Master Sword later, it downgrades you from the level 3 to the level 2 sword. You can just go back to the Dwarfs and reforge it to level 3 immediately afterward though.

Yes you can. I just did it.
You CAN get the master sword, it will untemper it, but after you beat the next boss and you go to the dark world, repeat the first glitch and you can temper it again.

Harbinger I'm not sure it's possible since you have to be ready to beat the 7th Crystal dungeon for the Super Bombs to be unlocked
Beat the 6th dungeon then super bomb activated cost 100 rupees tho
It would be nice to find a way to trick the game into thinking the waterfall of wishing is the golden pyramid fountain. Then you could get early silver arrows and golden sword.
How did anyone figure this out! lol. In less they knew how the game was programmed.
