  • In this video I will be reviewing the brand new YesWelder 250P TIG welder that they just released onto the market. This is a great 250amp Tig welder for the price and I don't think there is anyone that can beat their price with all the advanced features that this TIG has. If you would like to purchase one you can go direct to their site here: yeswelder.com/products/tig250... To receive 10% discount on all your purchases at YesWelder just enter PRANATECH in the discount code box at checkout and it will take off the 10%.

    Thanks for the review. I just pulled the trigger on this machine, very excited to use it. I'd also love to see your tutorial on making a TIG pedal, didn't see it in your uploads. I'll be keeping a lookout for it. Again, thanks. This'll be my first TIG machine, been dabbling in MIG and yearning to branch out. Peace

      Hi James, glad to hear you got one of these great Tigs! I’ve got all the parts in stock and my aluminum all bent up for the Tig pedal project. I’m finishing a big project of building a triple piston, gas powered air compressor and as soon as I get the final video edited I’ll be doing the Tig pedal video. I’ll probably do a short video on how to convert a SSC or Nova pedal to be used on the Yeswelder Tig for people who don’t want to do a pedal build but want a serious upgrade from the barely usable factory pedal. Let me know if you have any questions when you get your new Tig. Also, order an argon regulator because it doesn’t come with one. Peace to you as well 🙏😀Don

      Hi Jack, I would buy a gas lens kit for your torch. They sell them on the Yeswelder site and other places. This makes a huge difference in the diffusion of the argon when welding and will help you as you are learning to weld aluminum. This was the best advice I ever received for Tig welding aluminum. You should be able to get by with just 3/32 tungsten for 3/16” aluminum and under. The only other thing I would get when you have some extra money is a better pedal. The Nova or SSC pedal is a huge improvement over the Yeswelder factory pedal. The 5 or 7 pin pedal for the AHP 201XD will work for the Yeswelder 250 Tig. I know because I converted mine to work with my Yeswelder Tig and it made a huge improvement over the factory pedal. I have a diagram that I can send you to rewire the plug, if you ever decide to upgrade your pedal. I am also going to do a video soon about how to build your own upgraded Tig pedal. Hope this helps.👍😀Don

    • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Derek, I think it is a great Tig if you are only wanting to weld steel because it has only DC output so it isn’t compatible with aluminum welding. For the money though, it is a great deal.😀👍

    If you had to pick one this or your Ahp what would be your choice?

    • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Airkill, well I kept the AHP and have welded side by side for a while now and I made an adapter to use my Nova aftermarket pedal with the Yeswelder Tig and with the good pedal, I just weld better with the Yeswelder Tig. I do like the AHP very much, but one thing that annoyed me is it is listed as a 200 amp Tig and after a couple of months it would only go up to 194 amps and still is that way today after having it for 2 years now. The other weird thing is that the Yeswelder seems more powerful at the same amperage settings. It takes less amps with the Yeswelder Tig for the same thickness than it would for the AHP. So, overall I would go with the Yeswelder Tig because it has at least 50 amps more power and I weld smoother and cleaner beads with it, especially with aluminum. With the Yeswelder, I would plan to buy a Nova or SSC pedal because the one that comes with it is not easy to use at all. The AHP now comes from the factory with a Nova pedal. Hope this helps! 👍😀Don

      Hi Don! Wow, you weren’t messing around! 🤣 Ok, the best all around tungsten that I’ve used is 2% lanthanated. It is the ones with blue at the top. Works great for everything. 3/32” will weld just about everything up to 1/4” aluminum and steel. Above that you will need 1/8” tungsten. 3/32 will get you started though. Doesn’t seem to matter what brand, just that it is 2% lanthanated. Get a stubby gas lens kit and install it before you weld with the junk cups and diffuser that the welders come with. As far as the tanks go, I would ask your local welding supply if you can trade up to a k size tank with a few of your smaller tanks. Here in Tucson they will all do it. I don’t know what an E tank size is, it sounds like an oxygen tank designator. If so, just find a shop that will let you trade up to a larger size welding tank.😁👍

    Don, nice review. I've been looking at the YesWelder 250P Tig and the AHP 225Xi and both look like they are great machines. I haven't found a straight up comparison between the two. Could you give comment on these two or possibly make a video comparing the YesWeldwe 250P and your AHP 201XD? Thanks
    Your foot pedal build was sweat too. I'd like one of those, I may have to try and build one.

    • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  2 роки тому +1

      Zluca05, sorry for the delay in my response. UA-cam didn’t show any comments for 2 days and they all showed up today. Anyway, I think they are both great machines and very capable at all types of Tig welding. I purchased the AHP because I wanted to learn how to weld aluminum. It was great to learn on and simple to set up. I have been Tig welding for 37 years but it has all been on steel. Aluminum was a whole new world and much more difficult to weld than I thought. After about 6 months practicing with the AHP I felt confident enough to start building some projects with it and it soon became apparent that even though it is rated at 200 amps, it struggled with welding 1/4” plate. Especially filet welds on inside corners. Outside corners it worked beautifully. 3/16” and smaller, it welds amazing! Great quality welder! The Yeswelder 250 came along and was just the power boost I needed. It welds 1/4” aluminum without any problem and I’ve even welded 5/16” and 3/8” a few times with great results. One of the interesting things that I noticed is that the Yeswelder set at 200 amps would weld hotter than the AHP at 200 amps. It could do inside corner filet welds on 1/4” with no problem at all. Which I found strange because the Yeswelder is about half the size of the AHP. The Yeswelder also has a 60% duty cycle at 250 amps and 100% duty cycle at 180 amps. In the end I just didn’t have the room for both welders and I ended up selling the AHP. Both are great welders so I don’t think you could go wrong with either one. 😁👍

      Hi James, you can use a Nova or SSC pedal for the AHP 201XD Tig. You will need to install a new plug to fit to the Yeswelder Tig. You will need a GX16 5 pin male plug to fit the Yeswelder Tig. I am in the process of filming a video on how to upgrade this Tig with a Nova pedal and a CK Worlwide torch. I have a diagram on how to wire the plug if you would like it. Hi James, I haven’t pulled the cover on the Tig, but when I got the Yeswelder Mig last year off Amazon I pulled the cover and I was very impressed! It had very high quality components. Big heavy duty Japanese made capacitors and overall nice workmanship. I’m sure the 250 pro Tig is of the same build quality. One of my subscribers did a bunch of research on Yeswelder and their company and factory and he told me they are the real deal. He said they don’t just repackage somebody else’s welder and sell it. They control all aspects of the manufacturing in house and then sell direct to the public. That’s how they keep the prices down and make a quality welder as well. Hi James, I’ve never tried to lift Tig with a high frequency machine before. I converted my arc welder years ago to a lift Tig and it worked fine for me but not having any amperage control is no fun at all. Going to lift Tig on a machine that has a pedal and high frequency start is like converting your modern car to a Model T Ford. 😁 The torch that comes with the Yeswelder 250 works fine. It is very heavy duty and I’ve been welding with it since last summer and it has performed fine. I’m just used to a slimmer and not so clunky torch and that is why I’ve decided to upgrade. 😎

    • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  2 роки тому +1

      Good morning! Ok, any tig torch that has a 5/8-18 thread fitting on the end will work with this welder, but you will need to take a couple minutes to make an adapter because the welder has a male thread and so do American tig torches. Here is the adapter that you will need to adapt an aftermarket torch. www.ebay.com/itm/184841679271?hash=item2b096c31a7:g:ivQAAOSwtjdgoZ82 You will need to cut the adapter in half because it comes too long. If you cut it in half at the 1.125” length, it will work as the double female to adapt the aftermarket tig torch. The torch that I bought is a CK Worldwide model TL2112HSF FX. It is a 200amp torch with a flex head and a red superflex hose. Here is a link to the torch I bought. weldfabulous.com/ck-ck2112hsf-fx-torch-pkg-200a-gas-fx-w-12-1-2-1-piece-superflex/ If you just want to run a Furick cup on your yeswelder tig, just buy a stubby gas lens kit for a size 17 torch and it will fit right onto the yeswelder torch. The Furick cups will then screw right on to the stubby gas lens. I am currently running a Furick cup myself and it is an amazing upgrade! Let me know if you have any other questions. I am currently making a video on how to convert the Yeswelder to a water cooled torch setup and the adapter will be shown in that video coming up soon. Let me know if you have any other questions.😊👍

      @PranaTech  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there, The foot pedal they are selling now is a great one! The one mine came with was junk! It does control amperage very well and smoothly. The tig torch that comes with the Yeswelder is pretty decent. You will be able to weld anything you want to with it. No modifications are needed to this torch to run a Furick cup. You just buy any size 17 stubby gas lens kit for 3/32 tungsten and the Furick cup will screw right onto it. It will be the same with the Weldpro if you go that route. I think Weldpro builds a great welder as well. The Weldpro is dual voltage and the Yeswelder is 220v only. The Yeswelder does have 50 more amps though. If you are going to be welding a lot of aluminum, especially 1/4”, I would go with the Yeswelder. If you can live with 200amps for most of the welding you do, the Weldpro would be a great choice. 😊👍

    Hi, just wondering if you have had any issues with this welder as of now (FEB 2024).
    Mine tends to have issues with an error code E3 that isn't mentioned in the manual. Of course I contacted the company and, although having a good attitude, did not really resolve the problem (of course my power source etc has been thoroughly examined and verified). Bottom line, I wonder if there is an upgrade/update available, like a new circuit board or whatever, as I see the machine is no longer offered. I've respectfully contacted the company and have not heard back. They have a "200P ACDC" now - replacement? THANKS for the excellent video!

      I haven’t had any issues with mine at all. I use it now for mobile Tig welding and regularly run it off my Honda generator with big extension cords and I’ve never thrown an error code. It has shut down a couple times from me welding too long at 250 amps, but after it cools down it still keeps going. I was kinda surprised that they discontinued it because it is pretty rare to find a 250 amp ac/dc Tig that is this portable and at an affordable price. I keep hoping that they will come out with an updated model, but haven’t heard anything from them in a long time.

    • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  3 роки тому

      Hi Pickleman, I use the Miller welding app on my phone to determine my general settings for Tig with this machine. It is not that critical with Tig because of the variable amperage with the foot pedal. As long as you set the amps a little higher than you need for the thickness of aluminum you will be fine because you just press down more when you need more power. 1/16”aluminum I set at about 85 amps, 1/8” is 140 amps and ¼” is 180 amps. This should get you started. Remember to hold the pedal down for a few seconds until the light on the panel comes on so the welder knows you are using the foot pedal, otherwise you will get the full amperage at startup. Hope this helps👍😀

      Hi James, this is a great welder but it does have a couple of things that need upgrading. The Tig torch that it comes with is kinda bulky and clunky. I purchased a CK Worldwide flex head torch to use with this Yeswelder Tig and it is a great improvement. Also, the pedal that comes with this Tig is pretty crude. I upgraded to a Nova pedal and this really improved the usability of this welder. So the cost of both of these upgrades together cost me about $285 on top of the welder. Once I did these upgrades, it is the nicest Tig I’ve ever used. It welds amazing, especially when I am welding aluminum. So all total with the upgrades, this welder is just under $1000 with my discount code. I don’t know which Esab Tig you are looking at, but I do know they build a great product. If you want a great welder that is ready to go right out of the box, then the Esab may be a better choice if you have the money to spend. I haven’t used this welder as a stick welder yet so I can’t comment on how it will work with 6010 rod. Thanks 😀👍Don

    Does it have crater fill on it

    • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  3 роки тому

      Hi JB, most of the time you just taper off the current with the foot pedal to get a consistent crater fill at the end of the weld. Many guys are taught to set their downslope longer to reduce the crater at the end of the weld automatically. This welder does have upslope and downslope settings so you could set it up to deal with crater fill if you wanted to with the downslope settings. I have never seen a Tig welder with a specific setting for crater fill, but I’ve only owned 4 machines in my time. 👍😀Don

    • @PranaTech

      Hi Mark, the duty cycle for tig is 60% at 250 amps and 100% at 183 amps. Compare that to any big name welder out there and you will see that it blows them away. • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  2 роки тому

      Hi Don, yes, there are many options now for this welder. Yeswelder started making a decent pedal about 8 months after I got the welder. It’s pretty darn good I must say. Unfortunately I spent a bunch of time converting a Nova pedal to work with the Yeswelder tig and then I went and designed my own pedal and built the ultimate one from scratch that I did a video on. Here is a link to my pedal build.ua-cam.com/video/f2ta08h3q5E/v-deo.html Also after that SSC started making aftermarket pedals to fit the Yeswelder Tig. Theirs are supreme quality and work great but are a little pricey. Here is a link to theirs.ssccontrols.com/product/c960-0525-tig-welding-foot-control-yes-welders-tig-250p/ So there are plenty of options out there for you to upgrade to. The Yeswelder one is the most affordable of the bunch though.😊👍

      Thank you for your quick response I’ll look into those options. Are there any other mods that you have done to make it your perfect welder? Million dollar question…. To do over again with this still be your choice or would you be looking at another model? Thank you

    • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  2 роки тому

      Hi Don! Yes, the other mod that I did to make this the perfect welder was to convert it to water cooled so I could make longer aluminum welds without overheating the torch. I built a big Tig water cooler as a project and I will be putting up a video soon of that build and a video on how to do the conversion on the Yeswelder Tig. If I had to do it over again I would still buy the Yeswelder Tig again because it has performed flawlessly for me and I weld a lot! If there were any quality issues they would have shown up by now for sure. The other reason is that there isn’t any other 250 amp AC/DC Tig welders on the market that can compete with the Yeswelder 250P. There are many cheap Tig welders on the market now in the 200 amp range but most 250amp ac/dc Tig welders are over $1800 and up. That extra 50 amps of power is a big deal when welding aluminum. Hope this helps! 😊👍Don

    Which model Nova foot control are you using?

    • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Chris, I’m using the Nova pedal for my AHP 201xd. Both welders use the same resistance potentiometer value of 10k ohm and the wiring is the same except the AHP uses a 7 pin plug and the Yeswelder uses a 5 pin plug. I made an adapter that fits the 7 pin on one side and 5 pin on the other so that I could use the pedal on either welder when I need to. If you purchase a Nova pedal let me know and I’ll send you the wiring schematic for the Yeswelder Tig because the one in the manual is wrong. If you just want to use the Nova pedal on the Yeswelder Tig you could just buy a 5 pin gx16 plug like this and replace the 7 pin plug on the nova pedal. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DC7PHM3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 5 minutes of soldering and you are in business! Hi Lon, for the pedal to work you need to hold it down for about 5 seconds holding the torch in the air without starting an arc. This notifies the computer that there is a pedal attached and the indicator light on the panel will light up on the lower right of the control panel. It is the upper light of the three indicator lights there on the lower left of the panel. If you don’t do this it will just give you the maximum amperage set on the control panel as soon as you start the weld. Hope this helps! Most inverter welders do not put out high enough volts to weld with 6011. If you switch to 6013 or 7018, your troubles will all go away.
