The Thai people were very incredible, and they were very valiant and brave at the same time to help such an incident like this. It's such a shine and so saddening to see quite a lot of people injured at 1 died. In particular , one from britain who was seventy three years old. Resting in Peace Jeff cook.
Otherwise, thank you, Thailand, for all the help and assistance. 😢😢
As a pilot very sad to see this, very sad to see the injuries to the passengers. Excellent assistance from Thai emergency services.
Thailand medical services always very efficient. Condolences to the family of deceased . Prayers for recovery for all those injured.
And this is the reason why it's recommended you keep your seatbelt fastened at all times.
Singapore Airlines is known as the best airline but things can always happen with the fluctuations in the weather. The captain was very good at deciding to make an emergency landing in Thailand.. Seeing the good help of Thailand, I feel admired and everyone. Very country should do the same help when emergencies like this occur.
My deepest condolences to the deceased and his family.
❤ from Thailand
Wearing my seatbelt the whole flight from now on.
Always have done here. Take it off if I need to go to the toilet & once landed, that's it. Safest.
Yes, well part of the standard warning is to ALWAYS wear your seatbelt in case of anything like this happening.
steady on there billy... slight over reaction not good for you , you'll give yourself hemorrhoids
True, but What if the passenger was walking toward the restroom and it happened all of sudden? Who knew? Even the pilot couldn't see it in the radar.
Don't Fly.
On a positive note - this just shows the strength of these planes.
Boeing?
@@Michael-yy3frBoeing 777
Incidents like this also show good training and experience from the crew since they recovered the aircraft, preventing more injuries.
Correct... and a well trained crew.
Air pocket (sudden drop) can not be detected by radar, that is why it is important to keep your seatbelt on at all times!!!
Having worked for an airline, this is the exact reason I always have my seatbelt buckled the whole flight when I travel. RIP to the poor man 😢
Whenever you sit on the plane always use seabelt if you are not moving around. On my last flight Havana-Paris two months ago I was unbelted 3 minutes to go to the toilet, the rest of the time I used belt (9 hours). Most probably every passenger needs to experience heavy turbulence once, to know why. The plane I was flying with has never made a sudden big drop, but when and if it would once, I am sure I would be well prepared.
On the way to Cuba, Airfrance avoided turbulent areas over the Atlantic, what we were told and the flight was 30 minutes or more longer. But not all companies do that.
You're so smart wow.
Who would of thought seatbelts where useful 😮 I'm speeches
Have always worn seatbelt when seated
So sad RIP
This is horrible! I am so sorry to hear this.

Perhaps now people will pay attention to the safety brief, including always keeping your seatbelt loosely fastened when seated.
I agree can be heart attack because turbulence really is scary
Thai people are taught to think like this: think, speak well, act, make friends, and go to good places. You will find only good things.
I always do as advised...keep seat belt loosely fastenned during flight
Tragic as it is one man died, at least the rest all survived and the plane didn't crash. It must have been horribly traumatizing.
Someone probably filmed the whole thing.
RIP to him.
In 144 resolution.
This is unbelievable. I’ve never heard of turbulence killing someone. 😮😮😮. This is so sad.
A comparison of the normal tracks of the same flight on this route with that of the affected one, seems to suggest that this incident may have occurred just south of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta ) as the aircraft crossed into the Bay of Bengal . From there the aircraft diverts to Bangkok instead of carrying on to Singapore . Whatever , very sad . Condolences .
Have they innnvaddeddd?
Ideally, the only time you should ever take your seatbelt off is to go to the toilet or to take a few minutes of exercise.
Very Sad indeed!!! 😢
Rip
My deepest condolences to the deceased and his family.
From Thailand ❤
RIP 🎉🎉🎉. So sorry.😢😢
why you sorry ? did you know the person , or you just searching for virtue likes to make you feel better ?
Finnair crew members are very critical if you start to wander around and not sitting . They will soon come and put you sitting again and seat belt fastened. End of this month I will have a flight to Helsinki and hopefully all passenger will have their seat belt fastened when not using the toilet.
Why would anyone with a braincell be walking around on a plane. Unless you are going to the toilet.
@jake751 have seen such passengers. Yes, they like to just get up for stretching or something. Especially on a long flight
Always go to bathroom in terminal just before flight to minimise toilet usage and minimise walking around in plane. Always put seat belt on. They always advise this even when seat belt sign off but I suspect many don't bother listening to that warning. Also, wearing a padded Bluetooth headphones will protect your head and side of face in event of objects flying

You’d hate to be in the toilet when the turbulence happened !
My comment was censored. Outrageous censorship. All I said that it was the best place to be for fucks sake.
Is it possible to take a boat from the UK to other countries?
Or is plane the only means, since it's an Island technically.
You can travel by ships/cruises but it takes a lot longer than the plane.
I lose someone I love in an airliner due to their failures? Someones going to lose ALOT of planes.
LMFAO OK kid go back to keyboard warrioring.... Can't predict turbulence and the passengers are told to keep your belts on unless you need to get up!
Every airliner tells you to wear your seat belt while seated for this very reason.
What is going on with Boeing planes?????? 😱
I forgot that only Boeing planes can experience turbulence
Uncommanded slats deployment will cause the aircraft to yo-yo in the way described, not turbulence.
Woops. Turns out they didn't have their seatbelts on. It could be the crews fault for not warning folks to keep on their seatbelts.. or it could be passengers disregarding instructions to stay strapped in.
61 folks weren't strapped in... it could be the crews fault because thats a lot of people who must have been caught off-guard by the turbulence. If they were prepared.. surely they'd be strapped in.
It was clear air turbulence, which the pilots have no way of detecting.
Warnings are ALWAYS given to keep your seat belt buckled at all times. Common sense really, but there are always some who chose to ignore it. In no way is that the airline's fault.
@@tonywoodhouse6988they don't tell you to keep your seat belts on at all time
they said it's around the time lunch was served. And many were not seated, apparently?
@@Witcher14they do. It's aways suggested to keep seat belts on when seated regardless of the seat belt sign as it's always too late/delay for the sign to be put up before majority of damage is done. Rmb turbulence can only predicted to certain extend and it hits like rogue wave. Unfortunately everyone just conveniently take it lightly or just ignoring it. All is good when no issue arrise, but when things go south. People likes to start throwing blames before reflecting on they own action. Typical human being.
Mayday, Mayday - Gerard Butler film about a plane going over Malaysia? The plane hits turbulence, A passenger gets thrown about and hits his head. dies, and a flight attendant too. Its a bit weird this played out in real life. in MAY?

@@sjbict yep , the xfiles had a spin off show, the lone gunman? and in that a plane flies into the twin towers a year before it happened.
Michael Crichton's book 'Airframe' describes a fictional incident exactly like this, whilst it is fiction the aircraft detail and description of how a large passenger jet functions is accurate. Warning, if you read it you may never fly again.
@@54000biker i don't have a passport, no intention of ever flying. I do not see why people want to travel to some foreign land?
not my thing.
@@paultimson6674that’s fine, it’s your choice - as long as you realise you’re way in the minority of people throughout the planet.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised because it isn't very common knowledge amongst the general population, exactly how many people die in the air every year. Ask any international Long haul flight attendant that you happen to know they will tell you at least one or two stories, And those are just individuals who all have different stories. So people dying of old age and heart attacks and strokes etc is not as uncommon as you'd think. These don't get reported on because believe it or not the airline expects this to happen from time to time and they have procedures in place. For example they usually just leave the person sitting there in place as if they are sleeping, they wait for everybody to disembark and then have medical personnel and authorities board.. And the public is none the wiser.
Why is it always Singapore or Malaysia?
Yes. No other airlines had any air crashes. Dumb comment

I never take my seatbelt off!
Going to be interesting to see if the pilots used the tools they have to try and avoid the turbulence and passengers should always wear their seat belts when not up going to the restroom
This happened during daylight hours so it will most likely have been clear air turbulence. Commercial airplanes are not equipped to discover clear air turbulence in time.
The number of injured seems to indicate that the fasten seatbelt signs were not on simply because there was no sign of turbulence until it hit. Some people would mostly likely have been in line at the toilets which is normal.
Clear air turbulence hits out of nowhere like a hammer. If the airplane drops out of the flight altitude, the people not strapped in will have experienced a zero G event which means they will have violently hit the ceiling in the cabin etc.
Unless, you are strapped in, clear air turbulence can be a very violent event.
The airplane will not fall out of the sky and can take a lot more punishment than any passenger so the airplane was structurally never in danger.
Pilots could only avoid severe precipitation in clouds by looking at their weather radar but no way they could know there was going to be a severe turbulence. As soon as they felt the airplane was shaking , the seat belt sign would come on. Passengers must heed the sign if they also felt the plane was starting to shake.
To say there was no way they could have avoided the turbulence is only partially true..in my response I said “use all” the tools available to them..and maybe they did..the use of radar weather reports notams and other pilots reporting clear turbulence and of course the pilots of this aircraft calling other pilots to see if anyone else in the area experienced severe turbulence
They do say to keep your seatbelt on during the flight; no one knows what a day may bring, knowing God is our only real security, seek the Lord while He may be found, and call upon Him while He is yet near.
Dont go on aeroplanes....
avoid bad weather, why not?
Very sad incident. But attributing this to climate change is an insult to the intelligence.
Sq pilots are not the smartest to make proactive calls to identify turbulence threats , usually the weather monitoring system are quite good nowadays can pre want passengers to wear seat belts etc.,
as usual everyone gets complacent and think flying is safe , now this should be a wake up call to do your own duty for your safety and sit down and buckle up unless needed to be up IE : toilet and such like ... condolences to family of lost soul onboard ...

terribly sad.... this aircraft has only 2 engines.... perhaps it would not have dropped 6,000 feet if the aircraft had 4 engines ..... and the turbulence drops are ALL VERY SUDDEN DROPS .... MOSTLY UNPREDICTABLE !!! BUT if the Aircraft had 4 engines, the power and thrust of the 4 engines could have prevented a 6,000 foot drop...... sadly these days, they like to design aeroplanes with SKINNY WINGS which do not have much lift and to make matters worse, they install only 2 engines......so it is not surprising that in Turbulence, the aircraft may drop 6,000 feet !!!! but they want to have SKINNY WINGS and LESSER ENGINES to be more Fuel Efficient.... after all ....they all fly at 45,000 feet..... and a 6,000 foot drop is just a fraction of the height that you fall in Turbulence.....During the Boeing 747 days... you seldom hear of Turbulence Dropping over 800 feet !!!! This will happen to All Airlines using these Twin Engine airplanes with Skinny Wings....
The so called “skinny” wings are good for turbulence. They can flex to relieve stresses caused by the turbulent forces… pretty sure you would rather a sudden drop (which is safe wearing a seatbelt) over a a wing failure.
Sorry but your wrong
I’d like to believe this is a joke
@@ApexHarvestR SKINNY THIN WINGS dont have as much LIFT as Broader Wings.....
@@vincentowyong The amount of lift produced by the wings is hardly a factor, during flight at cruising altitude. Both styles of wings produce much greater forces of lift during takeoff and landing. During flight they only use a proportion of the lift they could theoretically produce.
