VW Weber IDF Carb Question And Jets
Вставка

- Driving your car and listening to the engine will help you determine what jets to use. Check the condition and color on your plugs as they will also tell you if the engine is running lean, good or rich.
Some constructive criticism need to work on audio quality. Things like wind noise etc are distracting and when a viewer has to strain to hear what you're saying the message you're trying to get across is lost. I am trying to work on these things as well good luck and keep moving forward.
I have a 1915. Big valve heads. Engle 110 cam. Dual 40 HPMX. Timing is set. Valves adjusted 006. 115 mains 200 airs and 52 idles. I keep getting what I would describe as a sneeze through the carbs periodically. I’m at a loss. Have any suggestions?
Is the issue more at mid and upper rpm range and not at idle?
More at idle and midrange
@@rickyelder2798 I’m really thinking your jets are too small. I had a 1641 with 120 mains….
One last question, even though I think I know the answer…. How many turns out are your idle mixture screws?
From there I can get you in the ball park of where you should be.
One and a half turns
@@rickyelder2798 wow, I was expecting more like 2-2.5 turns out.
Ok, my suggestion is to leave the idle and air jets alone.
I’d jump up to a 130 main jet. They come in between 2500-3000 rpm. You air jets don’t come in until upwards of 4k rpm.
115 mains are too small, they are boarder line too small for even a stock 1600cc.
Since you’re getting a “sneeze” through the carbs, you’re too lean.
Nice combo. Hope to see you march 9th if you can make it out to orlando speed world for our meet up. All run for fun and meet and greet.
Great video, learned a little more about my Weber IDF 44's!
Brian Minson I’m glad you found the info helpful. Thanks for watching.
Do I enter the hall of shame if I cut ''Access Holes'' to get to my idle mixture jets on HPMX 44's?
Haha, nope! I did it also. Just make sure you do something to close the holes back up to seal the engine compartment.
I was going to tell you about those guys!!
I’ve had my 1641 twin 40 set up on dyno but it still suffers from hesitant in 1 n 2 nd and spits and pops a lot at idle and setting off
Sounds like your idle jets or circuits are messed up or sided wrong. Best to get an air fuel meter and sort it out.
@@VWJawbreaker I’ve had snail flow meter on both carbs disconnected one carb and set both carbs to 5000rpm checked linkage and still got the bad smell of fuel and popping and spitting
@@tospicy4ya something isn’t right then and there’s not much I can do without being at your car unfortunately.
Great Carb. info💪🏼✔️
I’m glad you found it useful!!
You deserve more subs
I appreciate that but it’s not about the subs or the size of the channel. It’s about the community coming together, heloeing each other out and spreading the knowledge we have to grow together.
Thanks for a very easy to understand video.
👍👍👍👍👍
