    Here's what can happen between piano chord changes. This tutorial demonstrates three approaches: chords only, improvised melodies, and combining chords + melodies.

    It took me forever to find a video on this technique. I’d hear so many amazing pianist use this filler technique but never knew what to call it before I found your video. How did you learn about this technique?

    This is wonderful! Thank you! I do have a question though. At our church, we have a keyboard and a piano, and for right now I'm just doing chords with no fill in's as a beginner. When I do start filling in, do the keyboard and the piano have to be doing the exact same fill in? As I said, I've only been chording for a short time and need some advice, so I really appreciate it!

      Hi Leah, is everyone hearing you when you're playing with the piano? If not, you're free to play in between chords. If they are hearing you, than yes, you have to be careful not to step on what the piano is doing. It's best to play a different type of part, like sustained chords with a pad, melodic lines with strings, or some Hammond B3-type organ playing. I have some videos on those if you need me to steer you in one of those directions. :-)

    U mean 9th, 11th n 13th not 2nd, 5th, and 7th? but how do you break the theory of this down for beginners

    QUESTION the notes between the chords you just played is considered melody or harmony embellishment

    • @OurWorshipSound
      @OurWorshipSound  6 років тому +1

      It's mostly a matter of how you want to think about it. I tend to think of in between notes as either rhythm based on the chord notes or melodies.

    I have Yamaha Dgx 660....what can I buy to get it to sound like your piano?

    • @OurWorshipSound
      @OurWorshipSound  4 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure if there is anything you can upgrade on the DGX. The best way is probably to hook it up to a computer. I recommend a Mac (how to buy a used one: ua-cam.com/video/u_3KjSrXjcE/v-deo.html) running Mainstage ($30) software. I use it almost exclusively now. For more, I have a free course available: getstartedwithmainstage.com/ I hope that helps!
