I will occasionally use a laser pointer to guide my cat to where the treat is hidden. This mimics hunting better than anything I’ve found. I know laser pointers are a bit controversial but this is the one use for them where I think they are good because the cat can actually “catch” the laser dot and gives them a reward for running around. I haven’t tried a puzzle box yet so I just ordered one. See how that goes, thanks for the suggestion.
Well as long as your cat has something to catch and kill or a treat reward after the laser that can help complete the hunting drive. The frustration for the cat is there is nothing to catch/kill/reward from using the laser alone. Puzzle toys are definitely more advanced but your cat will get it!
My girl doesn’t like treats. I’ve tried everything, freeze-dried salmon, sardines, minnows, chicken, turkey, I’ve tried friskies, temptations, even actual pieces of chicken, cheese, other cooked meats, raw beef bits, she is not into it. The only thing she likes is churu (cat yogurt looking stuff) and wet food but only chicken or salmon flavour. She is SO picky that once, while away from town, in the middle of nowhere pretty well and could not get to a pet store, I unexpectedly ran out of her food because my friend’s cats were getting into her food, so we tried feeding her my friend’s cats food and she refused to eat anything until we got home several days later. She was fine, but stubborn as hell.
Hi Jess! Thanks for the catamazing box puzzle idea. I've been looking for food puzzles/toys, but they all seem to get such bad reviews for being cheap and breaking. So I love your recommendations, cause Jericho is playful and if this box hunting puzzle was a piece of junk, I know you would tell us. Also, a challenging puzzle is great not only for stimulating kitty, but giving those freeze dried treats away for "free" is expensive (if the puzzle is too easy for kitty). And hard to think of games to play with wet, raw food! Ewww, gross, eh? 😂 Much kitty love!
Most of the toys are made out of cardboard (like cat amazing) but it is very sturdy and holds together well. I like the different levels of it too. But yea you're right not much we can do for wet gooey food lol I've tried lickimats before but the food just ends up getting stuck in there.
I sometimes put freeze dried chicken treats in the cat carriers, which are kept in the living room. I wait to see how long it takes for Colbie and Panda to find them. They still chase each other around the house for most of their exercise. They jump up on high windows, the tops of cabinets and the refrigerator. They also play with kick sticks and a few of the kids' plush toys. Colbie loves to hug and play with a Remy (Ratatouille) toy.
Some of the toys get me nervous as I wonder how healthy it is for them to ingest the wool, or whatever the toy is made of. I throw away a lot of toys when they start to get too chewed looking.
thank you for the tips!
Great challenges! Ruger is working on them now. Jericho cracks me up 😂pawing at you.

Where did you get Jericho's cat ladder? It's awesome, I want one!
It's on etsy - there is a link in the description (:

Aww cute! Love those games. Jericho is runner and speeds around the corners and drifts lol

Yes I regularly pick off shredded wool. Just haven't been able to invest in new ones yet!
I’ve been using dental treats because I’m struggling brushing their teeth. But their regular diet is exclusively wet food.
Raw meaty bones is the best toothbrush (:
@@jesscaticles Hi What type or brand can I buy it?
Thank You
@@jesscaticles any particular bones. I’m kinda afraid to do it over choking
