Thank you. I notice a lot of UA-cam scrollers dislike spiral blades.

      Hi Peter,
Great to hear from you. I always loved the idea of spiral blades in theory myself but whenever I tried them I just couldn't get the results I wanted. I think a part of that is the fact that I have used the same style of blade for so long. Not saying there is anything wrong with spiral blades but for me and the work I do they just aren't suitable.

Great vid. I use blades that I get from advanced machinery where one gets new Hegner. They are labeled pinguin and also (the kind I have with me) pulger’s spiral. I am working in a softer poplar right now; probably only 5/8” thick

      Hi Marty,
Hope all is well with you. Blades are always an important part to scroll sawing. So many options and options too. Will have to check out the blades you are using too.
Thanks as always for supporting our UA-cam channel. All the very best from us all. 👍👍

Great video as always I guess I’m just old school I am not a fan of reverse tooth blades they just was readily available back when I was starting out just never switched to them
Thanks for all your great videos

Thanks Jerry, hope all is well with you. I have always worked with reverse tooth blades so it could be the same reason that I prefer working with them as opposed to other blades.

Search online for companies like Niqua, Pegas and Flying Dutchman. I work with a reverse tooth number 9 blade. The best for me are the Niqua Pebecco number 9 reverse tooth blade or the Niqua Speed number 9 reverse tooth blade. Pegas do their own version too.

All my Flying Dutchman blades are the Ultra Reverse. I have them from a #02 to a #9. I don't have any other brand to compare them to. I also have their puzzle blade, but I haven't used one yet and I have a few of their spiral blades in different sizes. I just don't like spiral blades. Too much cleanup after cutting with them. I enjoyed your test run on the blades. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Take care!

Thanks Michael, sounds like your own experiences are very similar to our own. Would be interesting to find out if certain scroll saw blades suit certain machines better too. 🤔🤔 Would be a great experiment for the future.
Hope you are still making good progress on the gardens. Take care, all the best from us all. 👍👍

@@DailovespoonsThomas Maybe the machine's variable speed has something to do with it? Take care!

It's possible. My hegner is single speed so perhaps a different speed would be better suited to cutting with a spiral blade.

I’m glad I discovered your channel as I am about to purchase my first scroll saw. I find your information to be incisive and informative. Growing up I learned it is always best to buy the highest quality tools you can afford. So I’ll be ordering a Hegner 22” saw soon. I’m sure there are other quality saws out there, but after doing my homework I decided on the Hegner. Other than it’s tried and proven long reliable history, I appreciate the fact that it has fewer moving parts compared to its competitors. To me that means quieter more precise operation and less to go wrong and maintain. Keep the good videos coming.

Hi William, thanks for the positive feedback, it's very much appreciated. Having spoken to the people at hegner Uk recently they were recommended the Hegner Multicut 2s, the Hegner multicut Quick (the one I believe you are referring to) and the Multicut SE. All three are very similar in design and top quality. The 22" machine you are looking at purchasing has all the quality of the machine we use but is suitable for larger projects because of its size. We are mainly making smaller gift items here at our family workshop so the Multicut 2s is fine for what we do.
I hope enjoy working with your new scroll saw, let us know if you have any questions about set up or any things about the scroll saw, blades, techniques etc. We are always happy to help if we can.

Is there a UK importer for FD blades now or do you still need to order from the USA? I have to say that my experience of FD blades has been the polar opposite to yours. The last batch I bought about 8 years ago were absolute rubbish and I have'nt used them since. Hopefully the quality has improved since I bought my last ones. I do all my cutting with Pegas blades now and they are easy to buy here in the UK.

Hi, great to hear from you. I don't think there is a UK supplier for Flying Dutchman blades. I had to get these from the USA. Hope the video was interesting. Thanks again for supporting our UA-cam channel.
