Chris I can’t thank you enough for sharing your experience and knowledge!! I’m a one man remodeling outfit and have benefited immensely from your instruction. Absolutely will be buying products from your store. Thank you!!!
I was a painting contractor for 20 years. I quit in 2007 but just recently came back to painting, can't believe the freaking price of paint! Anyhow everyone has there own tricks and ways of doing things. But this is how I use to do ceilings also, I found for myself, it provided nice straight lines and I was a pretty good cut in man also, but I still rather mask off the walls even though its a pain. I recently saw a guy spray all of the ceilings first, then came back the next day and sprayed the walls wet 3/4 of the way up and had a guy following the spray back rolling and cutting in. I thought it turned out pretty good, the ceiling lines were pretty straight. He did get a little over spray on the ceilings here and there mainly in the hallways, but he just touched it up. Hey whatever works for you.
Also have emerged myself in the study of airless spraying, from techniques, spray patterns, operation, maintenance, tips, anything I can find,,majority from u,,lol..so more hours in the classroom probably then on site
New at airless spraying. I have bottom of the range wagner 150 control. But after doing a few rooms think will need to upgrade. Ive watch loads of your vids and so many hints and tips learnt. Even purchased your tape belt holder.. awesome!!! Seeing how you mask up the wall. Ingenious. Thanks and keep doing what you do best. Thank you.. 🇬🇧
I was going to paint ceiling then walls; after watching your video, I'm now strongly considering walls then ceiling. Had not thought it all the way through before watching your video to start spraying (because like I said, was planning on ceiling first). Now it makes logical sense that it would be easier to mask off the walls than the ceiling to make a clean break. Thanks!!!
I've been paying for a week and a half and I would always think that you would do the ceilings first and then cut in the walls and save a lot of time that way, what is your what is your opinion on that
Yup.. the speed at which you move and the distance you shoot from are all related to the size of tip orfice and fan combined with pressure from the machine. Takes a little bit to nail it down.. I'm still transitioning to a sprayer and just had a mishap in a room with some fresh start primer lol. I'm gonna need to do a little sanding and skim cost the runny areas lol. It was pretty bad. Pressure dialed way up. Was not moving fast enough and another mistake was not having ample lighting. I sprayed the ceiling. Sprayed the walls. The pulled my light up and everything looked really wet.. then about 10 minutes later I started noticing the runs haha... oh boy.. Basically the overlap shot from ceiling to wall was hit a little too much... haha. I bought some better tips FF LP with a smaller orfice and went ahead and primed the rest of the house with sprayer dialed up just enough to eliminate the tails on the sides of the spray fan and tried to move a little more. Worked out well. Lots of factors. You make it look easy in these videos haha... so really only one bad area in the house that I'll be working backwards in. Lesson learned.

Is it less likely that a second coat will be needed if a sprayer is used? I ask because I usually have to give at least two coats, letting it dry between coats, which would not allow me to remove masking while wet.
How much square footage of ceiling could be sprayed with 5 gallons? I'm spraying onto raw sheetrock so 2 coats back to back. any tips on keeping the spray rig on standby while the first coat dries? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
About 5:30 and 5:40 I see heavy tails like the pressure is too low or the sprayer is struggling to keep up. Is this a problem or is it OK because you put so much paint on the walls?
Would you spray the ceiling or walls if the home was currently occupied? Or do you just use the sprayer if it's an empty house with no wood floors or carpet?
If you spray all walls and ceilings for new construction, how do you handle touch ups from other trades on the walls as the work on the house progresses? Spray finish will show brush or roller touch-up even in flat finishes.
That’s great in a house, but I have 250 unit, brand new apartment homes in fla. ceiling is one color, duck white, walls are anew gray. Trying to find the easiest way to do it. Started with ceilings first, then cut and roll walls. A bit time consuming and hard to find painters who can cut a straight line. Any ideas?
Hi! New subscriber here. Do you have a video that shows how to safely paint around a smoke detector and sprinkler in an apartment? With a sprayer. Also, with a cheap Walmart or Lowe's sprayer.
Use 1.44" masking tape around the detector while leaving one edge of the tape flaring out. Then use plastic or paper, and stick them to the exposed sticky tape. If the plastic is too dangly, roll it up, and use tape to hold its form.
I noticed you had tails on the edge of your spray pattern?. I thought this was a no no?. 3000 psi also seems very high can you explain why these two things are ok for the ceiling but not walls. Thanks
Got a dumb question probably!! Starting a new paint/ handyman biz. If just 1-2 guy outfit with all that taping to spray is that still faster then roll an brush cut in? Thanks I like your videos

If that prep tape takes any of the wall paint off the wall, then that wall wasn’t painted properly or painted with poor paints or both. The tape should be fine on the walls.
Before painting the sealer and topcoat on the walls make sure any spots that will have tape applied, like at the ceiling line and around doors/trim, have been sanded well and dusted with a damp rag. Especially when square stopping plaster is involved. You want no dust in that corner at all.

Love the videos! You mention use a flat on the ceiling because a satin or so would leave overage spots. What if you did a second coat? would it all then blend ok? I want to use the slightest satin on the walls, but would love to knock out everything with the same paint. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hey Chris, the ceiling of my dinning room is already painted with a very dark red color. If I want to repaint it to white, what prep work should I do before spraying primer?

Hello i am from Saudi Arabia. i have taken 4 million meter square paint contract. but in saudi arabia no body is using airless paint sprayer.... just what to know what is the cost of airless paint sprayer
Dude!!! Another great training video! If you're not the main training video guy for the major manufacturers or large painting companies....you dang sure should be!!!My brother-in-law said that when he worked for his contractor buddy he usta have to go in behind him and back roll or whatever... He said the rooms were like a total fog and you couldn't see sh*t right in front of you... Is that amount of fall out or whatever it's called off the ceiling be that heavy??? It sounded to me like he should have tuned down his pressure or wasn't moving fast enough or was running a really fat tip??? Right? I'm not seeing that fog in your videos???Or, can I add something to make it stick better??? You're the Jedi master so fill me in bro! Getting my extensions and 512 / 312 tips... Might grab one of these 12(12?) or 12 (13?) tips you use to hit the ceilings in your video's. After I botch up my house and have paint sprayed friggin everywhere... I'm probably gonna wanting to kick you in the took-us for making this look so easy!....cause I know it is not!!! With acrylic can I just fill a few 5 gallon buckets with hot water and a few drops of Joy to blast it threw the gun/hose/pump... and will that make it clean enough to complete a couple day job... Then at the end completely disasimble before putting it to bed until the next project??? Just a light coat of gun oil for the resting period will do, correct. Thanks, Dave-O!

Probably on purpose to minimize the overspray
You should show how the ceiling looks like after dries. Is this flat finish ? how does it looks with the light reflection ?

@@thesaviorofALL yeah its a better looking finish, but when you try and touch up you will get flashing with the roll or brush.
Love the videos! You mention use a flat on the ceiling because a satin or so would leave overage spots. What if you did a second coat? would it all then blend ok? I want to use the slightest satin on the walls, but would love to knock out everything with the same paint. Any suggestions? Thanks!
It just depends on the quality of paint
Hey Chris, the ceiling of my dinning room is already painted with a very dark red color. If I want to repaint it to white, what prep work should I do before spraying primer?
Just spraying primer will be good
Why did you paint the walls first?
quick question man iv been painting apartments that have a Water base paint over oil base and its pealing i prime and paint it and its still keeps happening any solution other then stripping it or sanding it.
+The Idaho Painter cool thanks man & will do
