Oh the Bella! I am the same way! My MIL has a huge long one. It sits a few feet from a west window and she does nothing with it. It flowers like crazy. I’ve been fighting with cuttings for months. Like you, it grows great in a prop box. I just potted up a bunch into soil again and I’m slowly acclimating it to room conditions so we’ll see. 😂

Thanks for sharing your lovely hoya plants. They mostly all look great! I don't understand either why your Hoya 'Sunrise' looks like that either. Mine isn't even getting all that much light and still gets nice red tones. I have to say I threw out my Hoya australis 'Lisa' it had days of being gorgeous but sometimes it was just a frumpy mess. In the cold season it used to develop a lovely burgundy color, but overall it mostly made me sad to look at it. Hoya Crimson Queen is so common yet so beautiful with its white/cream and gorgeous deep green leaves. It is one of my favorites and yours looks so beautiful.

Friday the 13th is a lucky day indeed. Happy Belated Birthday Bruno! I saw you on Svetlana’s plant swap video and was reminded that I haven’t watched your channel in a bit and what a wonderful Hoya video you have gifted me. Thank you 🙏

Hi! Keep your moisture level of plants down. Dry planter pots with a rag after watering, space plants out after watering, be sure there is ample circulating AIR around plants after watering. Mealy bugs love high levels of moisture. So you can't have wet plants after watering and high levels of humidity this is ripe enviro for Mealy Bugs. Gosh, I don't even know when is the last time I've had mealy bugs. All of my plants are in or near a window with the window wipe open. I have mesh cloth covering the wide open windows. In the Northeast of the US it's been warm and I've had to water more often than I'd think like every 3 to 4 days and the soil is dry or crumbly dry. After watering I dry my pots with a rag and let it day a bit before placing them home. I stay away though when I'm watering from wetting any leaves. I'm not cleaning for bugs so I don't need to get the leave wet. Just sharing my experience. Happy Planting!!

I’ve seen that Hoya Bella needs more water compared to many others, I have it mine in a chunky mix and water it around every 4-5 days and it’s going well.

It’s been awhile. Nice to hear you had a nice vacation and your Hoyas are just amazing. Some of mine are ok some have a middle seat in economy 🤭. Mine are just regular basic hoyas. Loved to hear your content. Take care till next time. 🐕🪴😊

Hi Bruno! 👋 I wonder if the quality of the window glass inhibits the sun stressing factor. I brought my H. Gunung Gading into work this summer to sunstress as the sun blasts through our South facing window all day. She grew like a weed, but very subtle colouring. My boss put in strong UV blocking glass to protect the furnishings so I’m wondering if that is the ‘sunscreen’ also blocking your ‘Sunrise’? Wonder if you should try hanging her outside next summer? Thanks for the update! 🇨🇦 Good to see you. 😃

Thank you for sharing your lovely plants and growing experiences with them! 😊
The one you didnt know could it be a Carnosa?
I hope you will find the name in your spreadsheet
As for the Hoya that you have identified as Sigillatis…. If it didn’t come with an ascension number or location, please don’t add it, because it could be something else or from another location.
If names and numbers get added to Hoyas, and cuttings are sold or traded with those names it will quickly become impossible to find the true Hoya that originally had that number.
Some may wonder “why would that matter”… well, not all leaves and flowers and growing conditions needed are the same, also some people would collect all the Lacunosas or all the Sigillatis varieties and enjoy the subtle differences 🌸
Because of Hoya Sunrise… I wonder if the sun is less intense where you are? (It does look like it could be a Hoya Sunrise)
    Things to think about:
Is it almost touching the window? Or a bit away from the window?
Is it full sun or are there a lot of clouds on most days?
Do other Hoyas sunstress at that window?
If nothing sunstresses there, maybe an added growlight would do the trick?

So glad to finally see you back! Happy belated birthday to you!
Could I ask your proportions when making chunky soil mix and what they are please. I’m finding I am gravitating to Hoyas more and more!

What I use now is 1 part tree-fern fibre (for the older plants it used to be coco peat), 1 part pon, 1 part pine park. I also add some worm castings and a bit of perlite, but I don’t stick to any amounts for these.

I have the hoya australis Lisa too and I thought I was not caring for it properly as it seems to stay the same size from last year. I got two new leaves this year but that’s it.

My hoya wayetii tricolor only sun stressed when i put it out for summer and it received morning direct sunshine for about an hour each morning. Also your kerrii looks so good my kerrii splash has not done anything this summer sadly maybe because its getting an eastern window so economy seat 😅

Hello, first time here, Beautiful plants!!, I notice that you use several different devices to contain your plants, I would love to know more technical details about this.

    • @tropicalsupnorth6658
      @tropicalsupnorth6658  2 дні тому

My Hoyas are planted either in ordinary pots (prefer see through ones), or in self watering Lechuza pots. For support I use a number of different things, depends on what I find in the plant/nursery stores. For thin vine hoya I make my own cylindrical support towers using chicken wire. For thick vines I use large bamboo hoops, you can join 2 together to make a dome. Sometimes I use round metal hoops, or rectangular plastic frames. I think this is a good topic to include in my next video!

I think that looked more like Hoya obscura, not the hybrid Hoya 'Sunrise' (lacunosa x obscura)
Though hoya obscura can sunstress well too

Could be the case. Hopefully it will flower and then it will be clear which one it is!

Have you tried a grow light for your Sunrise? Mine is sitting in a west facing window and I have a pot clip Sansi grow light blasting it for 8 hours a day and it has sun stressed beautifully. Not sure if it’s the combination of natural light and grow light, but I’m very happy with the results.
Your Hoya collection is very impressive. Beautiful plants! ❤

Good info, there is a Sansi grow light near it, so I’ll move the plant to be under it❤

Lovely Hoyas. Only thing I didn’t like was, you saying I will take the extra plants to a plant swap and I either give them away or “ compost “ them. “ it doesn’t matter to me “. As a plant lover how could you say that!! How can you throw a healthy live plant into a compost bin. That’s like killing a pet. Plants are our mute pets.
There are always new plant growers out there who will happily take any free plants.
