Jasper Ave itself can be a bit of a car sewer, and except for a few places it's mainly fronted by office towers that don't really offer much to the streetscape. I''ll drive down it, but normally avoid it on foot or by bike, especially when 100 and 102 Aves are much less noisy and sun-blasted in the summers. Less giant trucks trying to turn through me when I'm crossing too.
All the people whinging about how bad it all is. Meanwhile, they're in their cars heading out to the West Ed Mall because there's free parking. it's the same with cities across Canada: people cry about how bad downtown is but don't want to admit that their "need" for free parking is the root cause of why downtowns were/are abandoned, thus leading to more unsavoury elements taking over the downtown. Look in the mirror first, people; you're to blame.
It just seems like it because this video was filmed downtown. Edmonton is massive, it's the 5th largest city in north america. There's more green spaces here than just about anywhere including a network of walking and biking trails second to none.
Nice job. If anyone remembers downtown from the ,60's and 70's this is so sad and the result of generations of bad city council. Embarrassing excuse for a downtown from a life long resident.
How many years have you been trying to record this video? No crackhead downtown it's impossible. Usually among hikers this 50% Near Tim Hortons they have a camp. Likewise in the park in the last minute of the video. Your video is propaganda.
Thanks for the Edmonton town tour. Not many people out on such a beautiful day.
That's more because it's downtown. Whyte ave etc would be packed.

@@gp7910 Could you share what was different back then please?
Vid so real you can almost smell the urine and pot on Jasper Ave.
I have watched a couple of other videos of Edmonton, but nobody gives a narration, what's wrong, they don't speak English.😊😊😊😊
I don't like talking and not from the city to give a historical tour
Sad and crying how this city turned out ugly! I live here still and this city is ugly!!!
Thank you for watching
After all these decades, still a barren hole. Good old Deadmonton. You should be ASHAMED.
But it has a best mall in Canada! 🎉
You should see it now downtown. Its an absolute shit show.
