  • This 1,600 mile road trip was incredible. Washington DC back home to Denver, CO! This 1997 Toyota Century V12 is an absolute beast.

    I grew up just outside of Cambridge Ohio, when you said that I was shocked.

      Haha Cambridge seems pretty cool honestly! Granted I was just driving through but I liked the scenery.

    The whine is alternator feedback...look into improving grounds where you can...had the same with my Audi on my trip...ended up using a bluetooth speaker instead for stereo :D

      Thanks! Will do. This will be shown in a future video but I also think my alternator was on its way out which may have also contributed to the whine.

    Nice! What was your speed on the highway and your fuel economy?

      @MrKieriosity  6 днів тому

      @@MrKieriosity Wow that low? It's only a 5L engine. I would of guess around 22mpg.

    As someone who probably did 100+ hours of research on these cars and real invested into eventually buying one, joining the Century facebook group opened my eyes seeing the amount of electrical issues these cars have with parasitic drain always needing to be on a battery tender, alternators, batteries, not starting for random reasons, rear soft close doors dont work and the car wont start...just little random electrical gremlins that are not present on most other Toyotas albeit this car does have 40 different rear seat controls with its own AC system..i get that but still..would make it annoying to own, not even daily.
    I get that thats the vocal minority that complain, people without problems dont post that they have had no issues but these are known issues with these cars among many other things. Very difficult to find a competent mechanic to work on these as well, last thing you want is it doesnt start for a random reason when your hours away from home with family and everybody gets in the car and the thing doesnt start..now what..these cars are just too complex even for someone like me that babies their stuff.
    Some parts of this car is dead Toyota simple and others are very very complex especially being an only Japanese car and having everything in Japanese including trouble codes which is difficult to scan in the first place with an obd2 scanner.
    Amayama has nearly every part listed on their website but when you inquiry the part is discontinued or not available anywhere.
    The build quality and attention to detail is insane but the fear of something constantly going wrong would be irritating. Hope yours is smooth sailing tho. Gorgeous car.

      Well said! I’m curious to see how it holds up as I put more miles on it. I came from a first gen Audi R8 so I’m betting and hoping this holds up a little better lol
