@MrSFblack Well when you want to learn the songs it's always a good thing to turn it up, you also pick up allot of fills you loose in the drum track when you listen to Steve. So you don't have to, but if it's needed, that's the way to do it. . .
I often question if they even plugged the bass in when they recorded Newstead. Haha. I have the Bass Booster EQ on my ipod all the time and i can never hear him.
@InToTheFireKISS One thing I have to do to hear the bass in Metallica, and most Iron Maiden songs to hear Steve, is turn up the treble instead of the bass, cause the bass you just pick up the bass end of the guitar
@XXXkLeCiIj69XXX Yeah they are! I only really know Blackened at the moment and that's a pretty tough song. Probably a bunch of stuff off this album is.
in this case you can, just use overdrive. In other cases, like punk and such, you should use a pick to get that aggresive sound. The sound Jason has here can be achieved with overdrive
@mario1136 Yeah exactly. I love and justice so much the songs are fantastic. They're masterpieces but just the lack of bass takes away from the fullness that it could have. Compare the 1989 version of And Justice for all from Seattle and compare it to the album version. It sounds so much fuller with bass in the mix.
@mario1136 They really do. They can remaster the Black Album Load and Reload (All fantastic albums) but not And Justice? The Black Album Load and Reload were mixed really well And Justice for All... Not so much.
@XXXkLeCiIj69XXX Oh yeah that album is very much so a masterpiece. I guess just being a bassist that takes away alot for me. Great album no doubt though.
Such a brilliant bass job should be heard more than James himself. A shame, even on Death Magnetic Trujillo's amazing bass is not heard. And then I question myself, is Metallica using the bass just for themselves? To support themselves and their playing? That's a shame. I love Metallica I'm a huge fan but... I also love bass.
Wow. Interesting to actually hear what the bass sounds like XD
haha the verses is sick!!!
does anyone know where to find a 16 or 24 bit copy of this or any multi tracks for that matter? PM ME PLEASE!!!

@InToTheFireKISS try using skullcandy's I can hear them really good with those

God damn it! I was looking forward to this so I can actually hear the bass on AJFA for once, and an error occurs...
@thelegendoflink52 I find it kind of ironic that this master track be cut short when it was barely audible in the album.
Same haha, I can hear it faintly but it always gets lost in the mix
I got a fever! And the only prescription... is more bass!
@XXXkLeCiIj69XXX Yeah they are! I only really know Blackened at the moment and that's a pretty tough song. Probably a bunch of stuff off this album is.
It wasn't intended, like the bad sound on Death Magnetic wasn't aswell, Flemming Rasmussen have already said that.
@InToTheFireKISS
If he wasn't plugged in how do you assume these tracks were recorded.

Like during the second half of the solo, listen for it.
fair enough
@MrSFblack I thought the drums were a bit too loud
I think Jason was the perfect choice. I like him better than Robert to be honest.
@007ssrp
yeah. Jason used pics with his playing
use overdrive man, you still get that awesome sound, just a bit more bassier

how did you get it?

@chevysdime92 I very well might! :)

METALLICA HAD A BASSIST ON THIS ALBUM?!?!?!?!?!?!
Such a brilliant bass job should be heard more than James himself.

sounds good. But I don't believe I could ever hear Jason much on this album, the way they mixed it
The bass is mixed so low that the Bass Booster EQ just ends up raising the low end of the guitars anyway lol
Metallica really needs to remaster this album. Id like and justice for all alot more if Jason was heard. Hes a fuckin great player/
-Caution-
The pick is propiety of Chuck Norris.
google?
@Centahnethebassist I was joking bro.
Only pick players can ever be trully 'Tight'
Hes using a pick cause hes jason newbread
shit jason can pick
Very fast bass track... It is Metallica!!!!^^. Thats ofc its fast if its metalllica
yes, 23 years just to to realize how bad is the bass tone in this album -.-
@bluedevilxx its certain that is sounds better than you
that bass tone is God awful. Even with studio headphones, it's mainly just clanking.
