- Last year, Cassidy highlighted Drake's versatility as a rapper while breaking down Kendrick Lamar and Canadian rapper's rhyme styles. Cassidy pointed out that Drake doesn’t even have to rhyme words to come off smooth before placing himself into the conversation. As a rapper I love doing songs where I rhyme everything, have a lot of bars, and use multi syllables all the way through, but as a musician I understand using all those techniques don’t make a good song.

I don't remember the exact date this whole ridiculous rumor started that drake had ghost writers but I do remember it was when he had just bodied somebody and they got pissed off and started it. This is the same Drake that has had every hater bouncing in the club since 2008 and now all the sudden he's "trash" and Kendrick beat him...smh 1st of all "family matters " was better and was over 7 straight minutes of him dragging Kendrick, Rick Ross, metro, and others...just imagine if he would have took that 7 minute ass whooping and focused it all on Kendrick! You can say what you want but drake answered everything that Kendrick said. Kendrick already had a song pre written ready to go so when drake dropped family matters, Kendrick dropped meet the graham's with the sole purpose of taking away attention of how big family matters is/was. But it had no responses to family matters it was just a pre written song firing allegations that are absolutely ridiculous but Kendrick knew ppl would question it with all this Diddy shit going on. A year ago nobody would have even thought twice about the lies Kendrick said. Kendrick got ate up by drake and had to revert to making shit up. Family matters did more damage and was the better song than anything that Kendrick put out. Kendrick will never sell like drake and will never I repeat NEVER be as big or known like drake is world wide. This was dope! Cassidy taught me something, now I know the difference between a rapper and a lyricist, and the skill is greater using more syllables and consistently doing it. I think award shows should have a rapper category and lyricist category, and not just a songs impact on the charts.

As a student of the game. That multisyllable ish is the first thing I notice when I hear new rappers, and when you add punchlines, you have my attention!
flow is important too while doing it, you could rhyme hella syllables but if you can't flow and marry it to a beat, it don't hit as hard.
Cassidy can rhyme a lot, but his flows are battle rap type ish, which I love, but when Eminem rhymes whole sentences and does the craziest cadences throughout, that's a whole new level

THANK YOU, Cass. He's the only rapper of his stature to highlight how intricate it is to rhyme so many syllables aka Multis. I do think there's more to rap than just that, but it's a different level of writing when you can Multi AND do the other technical parts if rap.

As a Poet/writer to hear Cassidy indicate he doesn’t acknowledge near/slant rhyme is borderline 🤯 . Rhyming every syllable isn’t necessarily syllabics; to me Cassidy is describing his preference for combining syllabics and strict rhyming as a means to knit pick between whose a better lyricist is how you take away the fluidity of the word art form

Yeah lyricism is surely way more than syllabic rhymes, but i think he's saying making most sylables rhyme when telling a story that makes sense and while using metaphors and similes at the same time is way more difficult..
But it's true that most people in rap music have a narrow minded conception of lyricism , there are triple entendre without sylables rhymings, there are pure poetry, creative storytelling in songs like "amongst kings" by Nas or "close encounters" by jay electronica, these are crazy lyrical prowess whitout multisyllabics rhymes needed..andre 3000 is such a lyrical titan i don't know if he used that many multisyllabic rhymes..

Sometimes the person who masters the basics becomes the best.
Kdot uses multi syllables in most of his songs it should have been very easy to come up with aleast one example. What makes his raps even more interesting is his flows, he's very creative in the way he switches them and still manages to ride the beat insanely. You could never hear him using the same flow over again which ive seen many rappers do which to me seems like they run out of flows even though they would still have more words to say. With drake, most of his flows sound the same, the lyrics might be alright but over all I don't really see an mcee when I'm listening to drake. His music overall give me a good vibe but even if i hear a bar I don't get really excited because I can't tell whether he came up with that line himself knowing that he has Ghostwriters.

Yeah but sometimes multi syllable rhymes can take away from the song. It’s good to have a balance to make the song appealing to the ear while also displaying your pen. When you only focus on the pen and how well you can rhyme you can really take away from the music
