All in all a great group of footages regarding manufacture or arms and ammunition. Could have used some proper post editing however as much of the narrative while well said, was not in sync with the footage i.e. discussing metal stamping for mass produced automatics whilst showing fine woodworking and stock fitting for premium side by side shotguns, showing shotgun shell loading whilst discussing centerfire and magazine production etc.
This is a very good video. The only criticism I have with your video is that the AKM production footage is not in Tula, Russia, but is in Poland at the Radom, Łucznik Arms Factory.

When you have multiple parts coming together, tolerance stacking will ALWAYS be an issue. It all depends on how tight of a tolerance you want. It is impossible to manufacture something without either building in slop so that pays don't bind, or hand fitting. Especially in a high production environment, you're not going to get approved tolerances. Even with a $1M high end machining center, you will either have to slow production and have highly skilled machinists running parts (huge price increases), or do some hand fitting. Especially when you're talking about forgings that aren't completely machined and when you're using stamped parts.

Most military firearms are made to interchange easy with parts replacements etc.. but Russian AK's have terrible tolerances. They are built as cheap as they can and cut corners. Look how much material has to be removed in a simple hand guard to fit. This means tooling and material issue at the factory, and they are just making it fit/work. The Ak design is good just the the quality from factories is suspect, good old corruption.

The one people collect are the Polytech Legend series. Very limited in production. As they are the best example of an AK-47 Pre Ban models. They came in several flavors. Milled receiver fixed stock.
