    I visited Mangwon Market for the first time and it was amazing! This area is underrated and should be considered a top hangout spot for solo and group travelers! I found many things to experience in this area!! How did you like Mangwon??

      All do respect, why are you asking them in Engkish instead of Korean? For Korean consider have no manner though..

    Love this market! Not as touristy as Gwangjang Market, but you get all the variety and bustling market energy that you want... and the food delivers! Mangwon as a neighborhood is also just a nice place to hang out 🙂 Enjoying the videos, keep 'em coming!

      I think this area is better than Gwangjang for sure. Too many tourists in Gwangjang. Mangwon is so chilled and relaxing. I'll be going there a lot more often! Thanks for watching and your support! Really appreciate you!!!

    시장에서 보셨던 나무 재료들은 "한약재"라고 불려요. 차 마시듯이 끓는 물에 한참 우려내서 먹으면 건강에 좋다고 알려져 있어요.

    I'm just blown away by all the markets and the massive indoor one... We don't have that culture in the US and it's sad. We do have weekly pop street "farmer's markets" that are 1/25 the size, but I'd love something like this here. You are definitely blessed to have all that good food near you!

    • @francoismarc3
      @francoismarc3  3 місяці тому

      In Atlanta, I went to one of the pop Street markets and it pales in comparison to the markets here in Korea. For sure, so fortunate!! The more I think about my life, the more I realize I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to complain about! But, you know human nature. It will always find something.

    This is a wonderful area!
    The coffee shops are aesthetically pleasing as they are sure to be satisfying!
    As you said, a lot more chill compared to Gwangjang!
    Thanks for sharing this to us, Francois!

    망원동의 거리가 깨끗하고 시장도 정비가 잘되어 있네요. 맛있는 음식도 많고 광장시장에 비해 가격도 합리적으로 보이고요. 다양한 카페, 펍, 음식점에 공원도 좋아 보여요. 마지막에 미소지으며 웃는 것은 프랑소아님의 매력포인트 ㅋㅋㅋ 😙

    전 홍대 근처에서만 20년 넘게 살고 있습니다. (망원동, 성산동, 서교동) 망원동은 정말 주택만 있던 동네였는데, 요즘 망원동의 카페와 레스토랑들은 대표적인 젠트리피케이션(gentrification) 사례로 꼽힙니다. 서민들이 살았던 집값이 저렴한 동네였는데 너무 비싸졌어요.
    홍대 지역도 젠트리피케이션 동네가 되기 전에는 음악과 미술을 하던 사람들이 많았고, 여러 상점이 많은 메인 스트리트는 화랑 등이 있었어요. 록음악 클럽도 많았고. 이제는 부동산이 비싸서 홍대는 점점 텅 빈 가게들이 늘고 있습니다. 홍대의 많은 예술가들이 문래동으로 갔어요. 그나마 상수동(홍대 상수역 인근)이 예전 분위기가 남아있네요.
    망원동 옆에 성산동은 시민단체(civic group ?) 사람들이 많이 살고 있는데, 공동체 문화가 많이 발달했어요. 지역 주민들이 공동 육아를 하거나 그런 것들이 많습니다. 환경보호 등에도 신경을 많이 쓰고.
    성수는 수제 신발 상점이 몰려있던 개성이 있던 지역이었고 젠트리피케이션 영향으로 카페 레스토랑이 늘었습니다. 젠트리피케이션이 이제 서울의 어느 동네로 향할 지 궁금하네요.
    서울 시민의 수가 계속 줄고 있는데 젠트리피케이션 영향이 큽니다. 집값이 비싸서 결국 서울 외곽(경기도)으로 가는 분들이 많아졌죠. 망원동에서 렌트(전세-월세)로 살던 사람들도 떠날 수 밖에 없었습니다.

    • @francoismarc3
      @francoismarc3  Місяць тому

      Thanks for this comment! And how do you feel about gentrification?

    • @Nonamedesuda
      @Nonamedesuda Місяць тому

      gentrification은 장점과 단점 모두 갖고 있습니다. 지역 발전에 도움이 됩니다. 하지만 임대료가 크게 오르면서 원래 있던 사람들과 상점들이 다른 동네로 이동하고, 임대료는 계속 비싼 상태를 유지합니다. 유행이 지난 gentrification 동네들은 손님이 줄고 점점 빈 가게들이 많아지게 됩니다. 이미 많이 경험한 현상입니다.
      hongdae area 많이 와주셔서 감사합니다. 혹시 다시 가게 되면 절두산 순교성지(www.jeoldusan.or.kr/renew/)를 추천합니다. 절두산 순교성지는 한국 Catholic의 중요한 역사 유적(Pope 바티칸 교황님도 오셨던 곳) 으로, 굉장히 아름다운 곳입니다. 옆에는 한국의 기독교 Christianity 유적도 붙어있습니다. 종교적인 이유로 추천하는 것은 아니고. 아름다운 곳이라 지역 주민들이 좋아하는 장소입니다.
      이 영상에 나오는 한강공원 전함(배) 쪽에서 왼쪽 방향(합정역)으로 걸어가면 바로 보여요. 제가 hongdae area을 처음 오는 친구나 손님이 있으면 늘 여기를 데려갑니다.
      좋은 영상들 잘 보고 있습니다. 늘 감사합니다!

    You can eat fishes you catch from Han river. No polute there in Han river.

    • @jillthompson6110
      @jillthompson6110 3 місяці тому +1

      Robert Neff from the Korea Times wrote an interesting article back in May, about the fishing in the Han River. You can google it. Most fishermen are older males who practice catch and release. The Han River near the battleship will also be turned into a floating city by 2030, with floating hotels, restaurants, and convention centers.

    • @1nielsemo1
      @1nielsemo1 3 місяці тому

      @jillthompson6110 it is true that fishermen there in Han river fishing they usually release the fishes they catch back to the river...
      And... it is true also that the city of Seoul is planning to build a harbor near there...
      There used to be many docks along the Han river during the Joseon Kingdom era and ancient days.

    • @francoismarc3
      @francoismarc3  3 місяці тому

      Woah, I didn't know that! Still, maybe it's better to let those fish be free in the river:)

      @francoismarc3 lol ik I've been pretty dormant around here this past year but I've always kept an eye on the homies. Just been doing ALOOOOT of working both at a job and on myself I even got a gf and started studying to become a pilot. But more on that stuff later lol Canada was great man I got a video on that coming soon and I stayed for a week in the Ottawa area with friends both by the city and the country side. I didn't do any filming at the farm house out of respect for the family I stayed with. But it would have made for a great segment just because of all the history involved.

      @sixx_xlr A gf!? Studying to become a pilot?! This is a lot different from the direction it sounded like you were taking with your music! You have been VERY busy I see! I want vlogs on all this!!! I want them now! Lol Big congrats on the new changes in your life!! And super happy you enjoyed your first trip abroad!!!

I just made something for the first time in a long time now that I have had a bit of free time
