The one thing about Wilcox and support staff that carried over to some degree from the Dykes years is that they’ve always had the team ready for the east coast and the southern humidity. 2-0 in the home and home vs Texas 2-0 in the home and home vs ole miss 2-0 in the home and home vs North Carolina And although many were claiming the Dallas heat would cause them to face plant they beat UNT convincingly (not that they’re an equivalent opponent). Whatever it is the staff has always had the team ready to go unlike in the tedford years when we would drop games or get in close games in the South and east coast that tbh we had no business losing. So basically no excuses as Wilcox said. That said, and to your point. There are a few spots on the schedule that worry me from a chemistry / psych perspective. Namely the disparity in competition in the beginning of the year. We play ucd (fcs) at home then travel to a top 25 in auburn. Then we play sdsu (a decent but probably 50-60ish ranked fbs team) at home then we travel to a top 10 team in florida state. I worry about that slate from a mentality standpoint because they’re basically going from home field advantage against fcs schools to incredibly difficult road environments vs top 15 teams. Hopefully Wilcox figures it out and gets them ready upstairs. Looking forward to going to Pitt this year. Roll on you bears!
