My first guitar 30 years ago was a Sheraton. Still have it and always liked it.
Fantastic demo of this guitar, mine has just arrived and I'm looking forward to playing it , thanks for the inspiration !
I just got this guitar. And really enjoy it. The look and sound and everything. And really appreciate your video, cuz watching this video is what push me making this decision!
Nice one Frank! 😎👍👍
Awesome video ! I'd love to see more of the Emily Wolfe signature with different pedals and amps ! Keep up the great work you do with your videos ✌️
Cheers Robbie! 😎👍🎸
Enjoyed this review!! Have had my Emily Wolfe pre ordered for some time! I’m in the UK Too so have fingers crossed now that I’ve seen you get yours
Cheers for support, I hope you don't have to wait too long... but you will love it!
I picked this up about two months ago, and got a Gibson Les Paul Tribute a couple of weeks ago as a solidbody compliment. I’ve been IMMENSELY happy with the Wolfe - it’s a tank of a guitar, and it demands to be played. Love it, and the setup new at the shop was damned near perfect. I grew up with a 335 type, and this has been like going home in style.
Cheers man, yes I agree and tank of a guitar is a great description!... definitely makes you feel you could really give it what for without any fear of breakage! :)
You really do nail it....here we are ...9:32...and you are just killing it!!! The sound is so great!!!
Thanks Andrew, I enjoyed playing this guitar a lot! 😎👍
Sheratons are great guitars. I played one in a band when I was young. Reliable, great sounding
Another great review!
Cheers Tom! 👍😎
Great looking guitar! Enjoyed the review as usual and as usual had a laugh as well. Yeah .. it is a wolf. Thanks for this
Cheers Paolo... can’t believe I honestly thought it was a tiger! 🤣
I just got this guitar im in love with it, i agree on a comment that it would have been better with ebony fingerboard. But i still love it, great guitar
Ive always enjoyed the grain patterns in a dark rosewood.
You can darken the fretboard
A Gorgeous Guitar !! Great Review. Love Your Videos Mate.
Thanks for kind words glad you found us! 😎🎸👍
"You can do rythmic 💩 without fear of knob damage" Brilliant CD I 🧡 your whimsical turn of phrase & with the added bonus of the tunes🎶 you play when demo-ing the 🎸 it makes for another fun filled review....😃
Cheers Mr! 😎👍🎸
The diamond ‘f holes’ first appeared on the Gibson 335 Trini Lopez model in 1964. I had a sheraton from either ‘93 or ‘96 built in the samick factory. It was lovely to play, sounded great and even came with a bit of quilting on the back. Would have one again. Yet another great review👍🏼. Cheers from sunny Devon.
Cheers!... from rainy Essex 😆👍
wow what a beauty. great sound also.
I got mine a month ago, the neck pickup w/fuzz is unbelievable!!!!
100% yeah! 🔥🎸
I've got a regular Sheraton and basically I just love to crank things up with over drive and wah - these things can really take a bashing. Thanks for this review - Sheratons seem to be incredibly versatile for many different styles of music.
Cheers Simon, agreed these things can really rock! 😎👍
Damn! I came here from your comparison of several ES-335 guitars video. The Sheraton was the guitar that appealed to me the most of that group. Now, I’m seriously thinking about adding this guitar to my collection. 👍
Gotta trim a few others out anyway, so...
😆👍👍 Cool guitar!!
I hope to be able to jam like you someday, nice playing 👍🏼
Cheers Dica that's appreciated! 😊🙏
Second guitar you've sold me now! This one and the '59 Les Paul. Epiphone owes you a commission I think! Thanks for another solid review.
😂 cheers Jeremy that’s great to hear... I shall send them an invoice! Hey also let me know what you think of them once you’ve bonded 😎🎸👍
@@theguitaristas well....I'm amazed by it. I dont know how I got so lucky but my fretboard is actually very dark. It's nice and heavy like I prefer. And damn is it pretty. Everything about it is perfect. First Epiphone I bought where no setup was needed. Lowered the bridge just a tad and polished the frets and changed strings like I always do but that was it. Sounds incredible also. She's a keeper!
@@jeremywooldridge5537 Great to hear!
Brilliant review !! Cool axe
Cheers dude...keeping this one!👍😎🎸
Awesome video!!
Cheers Tim! 😎👍🎸
Those diamond f holes are something else. Isn't it silly what we get attracted to 😂
Also the epilite case is nice! Nice to see epiphone show off the binding on the front of the guitar for once properly! Just finished the ES335 series you did and trying to decide between that (Blueberry Burst colour) and this one!
This is the one I reckon... bit more pricey though? It's a tough isn't it, all these fabulous guitars we have to choose between nowadays!! :)
I am tryina to make the same choice… which one did you end up with and are you glad you made the choice?
Just ordered one from Anderson’s can’t wait 😝
Cheers Paul, it’s so cool 😎 hope you don’t have to wait long! 👍🎸
That would look lovely next to my mat black Schecter Solo 2. Almost a perfect match.
Love the show mine just turned up today love it 👍
Yes nice one!… when you can put it down tell us what you think 😎👍
@@theguitaristas na Ive jus tout away my 76 SG for this and it sounds grate , I may add a pedal but I dont think it needs any thing , Tell me why do you change the strngs on the guitars when you get them ? Is that much of difference , now there a taking point what to do with a new guitar .
Thanks Paul
Hey Colin...
Another great vid...!!
I have a 2020 Epi Sheraton II Pro...amazing guitar..!!
A couple of interesting factoids...
First...and something that drives me insane about the Sheraton II. Like all other Sheraton's, with the exception of the Emily Wolfe...there are no inlays past the 15th fret. It's like playing a violin down there...you can get a little lost without that reference point in the back of your mind as you play. So...I had to put black dots on the binding where the inlays would fall. Doesn't sound like a biggie...but I would by an Emily Wolfe just to have the inlays..!!
Secondly...you mentioned the finish. From someone who has a Epi 59' Les Paul with that same type of finish...it does begin to gloss in areas that you have repeated contact with. Namely...around the edges where your arm is...and for me, between the bridge and tail[piece. To me...it adds a uniqueness that is yours because it glosses up depending on your individual style of playing....how cool is that..!!?
Lastly...you mentioned being the same style as Gibson's ES-335. Similar...but with an important difference. The Epi's which include the ES-335's as well as the Sheraton's, are slightly wider than the Gibson's in the body, and by wider I mean wider across. Make sure that when you go to buy a hardshell case for one...it is for the Epiphone's specifically...they will not fit into your standard ES-335 case.
Keep'em coming...!!
Be Well...
Dred
Hey Dred, now that is an interesting fact about a size difference between Gibson and Epiphone 335 style guitars... I shall look into that one! Cheers man.
I’m going to have to check this out, I’ve got a hardshell case I got as a high schooler for an off-brand 335 clone.
A lovely thing, thank you.
Thank you too!
Just ordered one and it arrives tomorrow. It’s the only one I could find online. Are these limited edition or just produced in low numbers?
Can’t wait. I like the fact it’s based on an Epiphone guitar and not a ES-335. Makes it more genuine and unique.
Nice one!... I think both limited edition and low numbers is probably the answer, but you're right it's definitely unique and it's a great guitar to play too. Hope you love it! 😎👍
I recently bought a normal Sheraton (Pro II), and it's just great, the neck on the Sheraton is nothing like anything else - almost fatigueless and comfortable to play, and the quality of finish is right there. And given that Gibson doesn't have a Sheraton, I don't feel I'm playing just a cheap version of it's ES335. I'm playing a Sheraton. The Pro II split coils are very usable (not as good as PRS coil split, but still quite good). Last time I played the Gibson ES335 ( a long time ago), I couldn't relate to it, the tone was a bit lackluster/bassy for my taste, not so with the Sheraton.
Thanks for comment! I agree and am really glad we got this one 👍🎸
My band mate has one it's
Stoner Rock Machine loves the dirty stuff, but so elegantly deals with a bit of the jazz vamping.✌
sweet guitar brother!
ya my 1st act me501 has the 2 volume/1 tone going on as well...the 501 is 1st acts version of the les paul...one of theyr higher end models...mine has guitarfetish gfs "paf 59" chrome covered humbuckers and sounds like a dream!
2:32 : Looks like Gandalf using his magic with the closing guitar case sound it is perfect.
I love the aesthetic and am in the market for a Semi-Hollow. This one seems to me like it is a fair deal closer to a Les Paul, which I own, soundwise than other models already are. Would I be correct? In that case I'd have to pass to really get something different. Cheers!
I don't know really... they often say 335 is Les Paul beater but this one has a quite a different flavour 🤔
I'm undecided about this guitar. I approve how they finally had the sense to add inlays to the Sheraton at the 17th, 19th and 21st frets but I can't say I like how they did away with one tone knob. I can't see any advantage to that. I'm okay with the diamond f holes and no pickguard.
I do quite like the single tone knob… got that setup on the Flying V I reviewed this week and it sort of makes sense and is easier to dial in for the way I play which is normally with tone wide open and only rolled off for ‘woman’ tone from time to time. I find it easier to keep track where I am! 😎👍
@@theguitaristas My reason for not approving of the single tone knob is that I perform a song comping on the neck pickup with the tone rolled off then switch to the bridge pickup for fills and the solo with the tone up full. A master tone makes performance of this song quite difficult.
Great review. Nice guitar.
(Pedantic FYI......abalone has 4 syllables. Ab a lone ee)
Cheers man 😆👍... that’s the Essex pronunciation!
how did ypu fix the grover tunners? they are a bit scratchy and not smooth..
Like it. New sub!
It's a stylish but also sexy guitar. I want one.
It's a looker for sure.
Why do Epiphone ES 335 and the like not have curfing (not sure on the spelling). Is it important?
🤔
Had to return mine as the tuners were really grinding when you turned them, to the point of not functioning - like there was a bunch of sand and grit inside the gear. Has anyone else experienced this with this particular guitar? (I never have before this). Apparently (I was informed by Epiphone through my dealer), there are no replacement parts available in the satin gold colour. A shame, because I did like the guitar.
Hey Paul, that’s a shame! ☹️ nothing wrong with mine at all... anyone else??
Mine were a bit stiff but loosened up after a few weeks! Pretty smooth and stable now
@@theguitaristas Glad to hear yours was fine. I also watched a video review from Trogly Guitars on You Tube and he commented that the tuners on his review model were "gritty" and rough as well. Maybe hit and miss?
I loved your recent review of the Inspired by Sheraton Pro 2 but tbh.. the matt black and the diamond F-holes and the nicer headstock shape... I think this is the one to have :D... i can take or leave the wolf design on the back but the rest is 100% nice... Only thing I am missing is the 4 ply walnutty neck thing on the standard Sherry's .... the wolf is all mahogany... not as pretty imo.
@guitaristas did you love this enough to keep it? Finding it almost impossible to demo one in store, and would love to know if it had longevity for you.
Like many of my guitars i didn’t get chance to play it so flipped it after a while. It’s good but i prefer standard Sheraton to be honest.
@@theguitaristas thanks for this, that’s an interesting curveball. Was tossing up between the Emily Wolfe and an ES335 as like the slightly hotter pickups, and can’t quite get to love probuckers, but maybe that’s just older probuckers…
If you had to choose between the emily wolfe sheraton and the standard Epiphone inspired by gibson 335... Which one would you choose and why?... The review was great thanks.
I’d choose a Sheraton because it’s an Epiphone original
@@theguitaristas Thanks... I was wondering if the extra money would be well spent on the Emily Wolfe model given that it has the same pickups fitted as in the 335 version... Its is good that the Sheraton is true epiphone by originality.
Damn, I’ve got to stop watching your videos! Every time you post one, I go buy the damn guitar! We’ll done sir!
😂👍... there is no cure! 😎🎸
I just picked up a 1998 Epiphone Dot 335, with hard case for $300. It looks great, plays just fine and sounds good I can't seem to "bond" with it.... maybe it's the large body,, (the size of my ex wife's ass) maybe it's the neck, but I keep going back to my Les Pauls. That guitar however, looks GREAT. Greetings from the U.S.!
👍🏻👍🏻
How does this compare with your modded 335, or even the Casino??
I will probably do a comparison at some point... but short answer is that it’s totally different to the Casino (both are great) and it’s way cooler than the 335 😎🤘 Cheers man!
@@theguitaristas Appreciate the Casino is a Hollowbody while the Sheraton and 335 are Semi, but I wondered how much of an audible difference that makes and whether, for the price and the added tonal quality of the P90s, you had a preference. But I suppose that's prime video content for another day!
I'm keen to pick up one of these as my next guitar purchase. Very much like the aesthetics of Emily Wolfe's sig, but you did a great job on modding (and charting the journey of) your 335! And Mick Taylor's Casino does sound fantastic too! At least there's one GAS that never runs out.
Keep up the great videos man 👌
Cheers, did you see my review of the Casino yet?
@@theguitaristas I did, only recently discovered your channel but I'm slowly making my way through all of your content 🤘😁 The Worn Olive Drab would be my choice too!
@@Hades_88 Cheers man glad you found us! 😀👍🎸
Nut width anybody? It seems to vary: 1.68-1.70" depending where you look. 2mm probably sounds silly but I got sausage fingers, so size matters to me. Recently bought a D'Angelico 60% off from GuitarGuitar and the buzz keeps me awake at night.
I LOVE THIS GUITAR! But I can't get past the diamonds holes. They seem to fight the shape of the guitar.
I dunno Ken... with the satin finish and diamond shapes it reminds me of Led Zeppelins 'The Object' and '2001 Space Odyssey'.... it's a thing of beauty!
Mate I adore them!
Still waiting for mine now been on order since may last year ```````````````````````````````````
Crikey that’s a shame you are very patient! I think it will be worth it though it’s very distinctive… did you see the comparison film ‘335 the rivals’ I did?
@@theguitaristas yes looks nice i did have a e-iPhone black and blue which i should not of sold but its turned up now and its great
👌
Dont forget the knob protector......
Wonder how this guitar is holding up after these years.. thing about guitar reviews there are very few follow ups out side of the new release hype.. not a criticism of you or anything but just a general observation.
She got rid of the second tone control because she couldn't reach it.
Is it heavy?
Did I not weigh this one? 🤔
@@theguitaristas Nope. And no neck measurements, either-unless I missed them.
@@scottdavidson6066 Oh well sorry about that... it was a year ago and I was still finding my groove!
@@scottdavidson6066 @redflamered Actually as it happens if you check out the film es335 rivals part one I do weigh the Stealth and also give neck profile & measurements. 😎👍
Nice guitar perhaps could sound better seems a bit muddy don't no if it was amp settings seems like a finger magnet have shereton years ago sounded much better
Cheers Raymond! I guess it depends what sound you’re going for and I was after a tone rolled back dirty grungy fuzz tone... it’s what this one was made for I reckon? 😎🎸✌️
@@theguitaristas ok thanks 👍
Uhhh, epiphone invented the 335 style guitar as did the invented humbucker and mini humbucker pick ups! Gibson bought epiphone way back! The 335 and most dirivatives were epiphone!
I just realized I wasn’t subscribed! Fixed.
Thanks man that’s appreciated! 😎👍🎸
I just fkng hate the diamonds
Noway theyre Trinis!
Its not a real Sheraton. Doesn't have a maple neck and in Block.
Lovely guitar, too big for me though. These guitars always remind me of jazz players 🤮. Nice playing
Look at Tom Delonge then who took the 333/335 style into punk rock as his signature model for nearly 20 years now. I own 4 different semi hollows like, including this one, and only think of punk music when I see them now. There’s of course Dave Grohl as well so there’s been a major transition in the image of these guitars.
What’s wrong with jazz players ?? Lol
Hes always wearing the same clothes
Not true... I wear fresh underwear for at least every other film! 😂✌️
If I played this left handed is my arm right on those controls? Ugh
The life of a lefty. Discrimination I say! 😄
You have it tough for sure, I too am a lefty but learn't to play right handed as I didn't know any different... I sure dodged a bullet there!
Nope. Not this one. A show-pony that can't run imho.
- Fortunately all the other new Epis seem to be really good, & great vfm.
Hey Jeffrey, That’s interesting you say that... why so?
What makes you say that? Interested as someone who is deciding between this and the ES-335 and similar models (have a gretsch centreblock jr p90 with bigsby almost here but looking for hardtail humbucker semi acoustic sound and prefer epiphone for sentimental and monetary reasons!)
too much talking… please just play it.. need to hear the clean sound especially….
Sorry about that… perhaps someone else did a review that was more specific to your requirements? 😜✌️
