Hey guys, hope you enjoy today's video and find it useful. In part 1 we look at how to play a basic arrangement of the main tune, and in part 2 we will look at how to improvise over this tune!
A quick note about the first and last chord - on some lead sheets the chord may be notated as Cm7 - this can be replaced with a Cm6/9 and i personally think it sounds a lot better.
If you have any questions or feedback please do let me know in the comments. Thanks for watching! :) I have added a second channel for exploring my own musical ideas / @osmusic1986 .
Please subscribe to that if you would be interested in following that journey
Pierre
Very nice, Ollie. I'm looking forward to part 2.
This is easy to follow. Thanks!
Thank Olly for these great lesson ! 😊 Number one for a beginner !
Hey Ollie, thought you were supposed to be doing part 2 to this video, where are you?!
I'm actually learning a lot from this.
I really enjoy your tutorials, very easy and stress free way to learn a piece before I refine it on my own. Hope to see part two in the future :D
Olly you're the tastiest of all jazz Tutors on YT. Please do more tutorials, you're the best.
Be good.
Haha thank you, yes I will definitely do more! :)
Thank you, Ollie, you are a great teacher. Your patience and ability to simplify things is such an encouragement.
As soon as I manage to play this fantastic tune with ease, I can hardly wait to see what you have for us in the improv video.
Thank you again, Ollie.

PS. Perhaps you may find the time to come and perform for us at the Brisbane Jazz Club someday.
Thank you Ivan!
Enjoyed your Blue Bossa tutorial. Thanks for sharing!
I have been learning Blue Bossa with just 3rds and 7ths so your extended chords suggestions are really useful. Thanks very much Olly
Great stuff, Ollie. I found this really useful. Thanks. Good to see you back!

Thanks heaps mate!!!
Nice tutorial!
Thanks Pierre!
HI OLLY good job when do you put the second video of Blue bossa for impro regards
Muito obrigado pela aula. Parabéns!
It's good Ollie. You come across to me as uncomplicated. Have you made part 2 yet? I'm curious to know what improv. techniques you'll use.
Also you did a version of Yesterday by The Beatles
Have you got a PDF of what you did?
I'm also curious what you did there as well!!
Wonderful. I sing and play, and will that work to sing while playing the melody on top too? Can you do a lesson or just comment on how I would go about playing if one wanted to sing too?
If you sing melody, you could accompany yourself nicely with roots in LH and rootless voicings in RH
That would sound very pleasing I think- keep rootless voicings below your melody
Maravilhoso grato
Sending out a search party for you. Social distancing does not equate to new videos :)
So you never did a part 2 for Blue Bossa?
It's on its way - just editing , should be up in the next day or so :)
@@ollyonpiano That is great news! This is the first Bossa Nova I've learned and I love it. Your tutorial is great. I love how you show the chords in each section and play it through a few times to help it sink in. Wonderful thing you're doing here for people...............Thank you so much.
Atroce
Olly, your teaching method is GREAT !! You really explain slowly and it's easily absorbed. THANKS !
