"Gamblers at a roulette table looking to double their money traditionally face the choice of putting it all on black or red. And on Black / Red, their landmark 12th album, Feeder also go for a high-stakes double: 18 tracks, two “discs” and one raised middle finger to today’s supposedly TikTok-ravaged short attention spans.
Luckily, if there’s any band that could be described as a sure thing, it’s probably Feeder. There’s barely been a misstep across those dozen records and while this trilogy-concluding follow-up to 2022’s excellent Torpedo is certainly ambitious, Grant Nicholas and Taka Hirose emerge with their high-rolling reputations enhanced.
The ’Black’ disc continues Torpedo’s hard-rocking renaissance, the tightly wound classic rock riffing of Playing With Fire and the expansive, cinematic landscape of ELF striking a charming juxtaposition with the irresistible pop rush of Hey You. ‘Red’ isn’t quite as heavy, but it’s just as intense, stuffed with Feeder’s ’00s trademark: melody-drenched, emotive alternative-rock anthems such as Sleeping Dogs Lie, Unconditional and Here Comes The Hurricane.
Feeder are still more than capable of springing a surprise - lord alone knows what odds you’d have got on the poignant Soldiers Of Love sporting a bagpipes intro, 30 years after they first blasted out of South Wales. But as that song rails against a world 'When you feel nothing is real', you’ll realise that - whether you have time to hear these songs all together or listen to them in splendid isolation - Black / Red is an authentic representation of a great band in full, long-distance flight.
And, if you’re looking for a band to keep it real in a world of fakes, you could do a lot worse than to put it all on Feeder."

Criminally underated band. Amazing live.
Loved this song so much when first hearing the single/echo park album and GT3. Now many years still listening and get that same feeling of excitement and enjoyment.
Don't wanna be a hero don't wanna be a zero. Great song!
Oh my gosh. I forgot about Feeder. Just discovered this song after many of years and totally forgot how much I love it.
Please come back around! I don't want to sit here wasting time, I just want to see feeder live, feeling comfort in sound in echo Park. Grant, your depth knows no measure. Please do one last tour, Ive been a super fan since i was about 10. Im 28 this year. Come on, close your eyes and drift away to a tour this year, the summers gone, but your a friend, and ill blame myself, even if its in saint germain!
+MrMace001 That was simply brilliant hahaha
You’re 34 now? Feel old yet?? I’m 35 on a nostalgia trip. Music was better back then, I know everyone says that but current music is…..money, hoes, sex, swearing, gangs, basically vanity!!! music or the 90s and early 00’s was proper music, could buy a thousands albums from back then and pick a random sing of a random album and it’d chart today!! Peace
Great song, love that simple, higher-pitched riff during the chorus. Very evocative. Kinda reminds me of My Hero by Foo Fighters
Haven't heard this in years, bloody still as awesome as I remember!
This song made me fall in love with feeder and is still my favourite, so much nostalgia floods back with this
shame this is so underrated a true master piece yet no one notices but a few love u feeder
Who said he couldn't sing anymore. I just pointed out this voice has changed since 2001 which is pretty obvious. He's still more then capable.
I remember hearing a feeder song in GT3 around a decade ago, and I don't know how but I somehow remembered the chorus and looked up the band, thank you brain, feeders simply amazing!
Watching teachers took me here again such a great soundtrack and such an epic song!
Again, I could say it a thousand times- one other of Feeder's most anthemic songs.
His voice is so Bryan Adams, beautiful song from a great band ❤️
I love all feeder tracks x saw lead singer a few years ago at a petrol station hes gorgeous made my weekend just a moment but warms my heart always aaaw :) xx
Cause I don't want to be you're hero but I don't want to be you're ZERO. I wish that I could turn the clocks right back it's easy to forget just what you've got. just a few lyrics from this amazing track. SO BEAUTIFUL SO POWERFULL SO TRUE!!!. A class band all-round. R.I.P JON HENRY LEE.
I listen it over again and again, and it's still not enough. Awesome. :))
This song always makes me happy when I'm sad, I don't know why .. I adore FEEDER !!!!!!!!!
Still love it!
There's something hauntingly beautiful about Feeder.
Have recently discovered Feeder and can't understand why they haven't broken through in the USA, other than times have changed and you need a good Pandora presence. Still, this British band is the stuff.
one of their best songs! :) one of the best bands ever out there!!! :)
timeless... thank u feeder
great song! Plz play it live again!
great song..great band
You were brilliant at the Godiva Festival last year keep safe guys
I also just rediscovered this song, was my favourite song on Echo Park :-)
i dont wanna sit here wasting time....feeder still going strong

Feeder formed in my Hometown Newport Wales !!!!!!!!
Hella sexy drum kit ((and drummer ;) ))
this is the voice I love. Start singing like this again! Drop the Silent Cry and Renegade voice!!!
Teachers on Channel 4!
Dude... happened to me too!
Taka Hirose
Looks like the same place they filmed for Find The Colour...
この曲大好き!\(^o^)/
GT3 A-spec was the shit. feeder is good music for maxing a Pagini Zonda.
It's called 'time'. You'll notice when you're 11 years older than now you will sound different.
Not my fav Feeder song and still perplexes me how this made it on too "Echo Park" Instead of gems like Sex Type Drug, Just a Day or Purple!
@Oenomauss In GT3??? really???
@shaka5384 yeah, so?
they aint british they are WELSH...FEEDER...from my hometown,LOST PROHPETS,SKINDRED...from my hometown,BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE,STEREOPHONICS,FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND,GOLDIE LOOKING CHAIN...from my hometown,KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES,MANIC STREET PREACHERS,MARINA AND THE DIAMONDS,THE BLACKOUT,all the best bands are WELSH.
Wales is part of the Island of Great Britain so would geographically still be “British” even if it wasn’t part of the UK…
so maybe if Grant can't sing any more they should pack it in...
Huh
@classylarry don't knock the blondeness
CD player player player player
@classylarry you would look "incomfortable" and dull if you were making a music video, they are hardly fun. Standing around all day miming the same song over and over to get different camera angles. Check out the video for Buck Rogers, that was actually filmed at about 2am in a freezing cold carpark!
As much as I love feeder and this song, the band seriously needs some style injected in them. They all look so pathetic with the blonde highlights and the lead singer looks so incomfotable and dull.
