There has been many a day where I've questioned the importance of poetry and storytelling; but then I hear a poem like this, read with conviction, and I am reminded to fortify my heart against the "clockwork soul." Thank you.
Thank you for this beautiful ballad. What a delight it is to visit your library regularly and enjoy your generous offerings! With many blessings from Saskatoon, Canada.
Many thanks! The ballad was a new departure for me but it seemed to go well so I think I will write some more and maybe do a cycle of ballads about Galahad and the grail!
@@MalcolmGuitespell That Ballad was your first ? Gosh well done 👍 I think you could choose a more relevant subject ( no offence to The Grail) ie, about how music and poetry ( two things you clearly love) blend into something surreal, or draw on Orpheus who as you know was both poet and musician. Just some thoughts that have come to mind. Grazie 🙏 again . S.
I've never been one for poetry. But since finding your channel I've developed quite an interest and enjoyment of poetry. Thank you sir for sharing your gift. God bless.
Mr. Guite, absolutley mezmarizing. I am just getting my feet wet in poetry and found your interview on The CommonToad, really great info on wetting ones foot in the pond. Thank you for these videos.
So glad! There is no better tribute to a poem than that it should bring tears. This is very encouraging as I am thinking of writing some more Arthurian Ballads!
Wonderful! Thoroughly enjoyed this! The stream near the end brought to mind a dream I had years ago. I was in a green valley, ankle deep in a stream, talking with a friend about scripture - soon I realized that the water itself was the Word, and verses and phrases were flowing around my feet and becoming illuminated when we would speak of them. I waded a bit further into the stream, and it was up to my knees, then a bit further, and it was to my waist. Finally, I came to a river that was perpendicular to the stream, a deep river flowing fast. Then I awoke. I later found an identical account of the river that flows from the temple in Ezekiel 47. Your writing recalled for me my dream. Thank you for that.
Your enjoyment as you read that was really infectious. Brought cheer and hope to a gloomy lockdown afternoon - lots of smiles and laughs. (The knights face revealed as cogs and wheels brought to mind Darth Vader. Alas my academic credentials are laid bare)
Poured up a Bordeaux "Château Grand Désir" 2016 to enjoy this pure gift. With Geo MacD's Golden Key being a favorite and then recently reading Piranesi, there seemed to be a similar deepening invitation of wayfinding and more.
The only thing missing is your pipe, good sir. I wish many years of life to yourself. BTW: I love your Sherlock series Peterson original and I also, am a fan of all 7 briars of that set. Good coffee, a good read and my pipe is my idea of solace or reflection.
@@MalcolmGuitespell it sounds like a three pipe time frame. Ill insist all around must not speak a word for fifty minutes. I know the reference won't be lost on you.
@@MalcolmGuitespell Some day Ill have a Peterson of my own in honor of the great Holmes. Id love to get that long black clay churchwarden he smoked so meditative as described in the original.
How come only 151 people have liked this? This poem is sublime.
It thrilled me so much - was on the edge of my seat, Joyous and sublime. Malcolm is a terrific word slinger.
Very good! The line "and soon a mechanistic will became a clockwork soul" is a perfect argument for why we need poetry. Thank you for sharing.
thanks. Glad you liked that line its what the poem is about!

Bro's tilted lampshade is on point
Absolutely beautiful. I was standing at the stream with them. Thank you for taking me along. Be well my friend.
Glad you enjoyed it

My pleasure!
Wow, that was incredible!
Truly beautiful and well done !
Excellent! Thank you, Malcolm. (It reminded me of Saruman and Orthanc)
Yes I was thinking of the line ‘he has a mind of metal and wheels’
Wow !!! Wonderful ❤

Darth Vadar and also a touch of Treebeard saying that Saruman had ' a mind of metal and wheels'!
@@MalcolmGuitespell Of course. Thank you. Think I might get Lord of the Rings of the shelf and spend some time in Middle Earth. 👍🏻❤
Marvellously Epic!
Wow!
So much yearning and hope this ballad inspires!
thanks!

Ah, so glad you joined me in a glass of Bordeaux, yes Macdonald's golden Key which I had recently re-read was definitely in the mix!
I love a good story with true heroism

Thanks, the next episode is actually going to be all about pipes and include an ode to my Sherlock Holmes Professor!

Wow! Keats, Coleridge, and Tennyson came to mind, rightly or wrongly.
quite rightly, they're all in there! Ancient Mariner, La belle dame sans Merci, Lady of Shallot!
That was brilliant. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
