They always had the killer DJ, were masters of the sample & played their own instruments to make their own beats. They came from when you served the track instead of everything being a 'battle'. One thing you got to understand about the Beasties, they loved what they were doing and were always self depracating. Probably spelled that wrong, but they were always making fun of themselves in their videos.
In about 1983 they switched from punk to hip hop after meeting Rick Rubin and their sound, attitude and look was influenced heavily by Run DMC, rather than earlier groups that took influence from glam and disco, like Sugar Hill Gang and Grandmaster Flash. Chuck D credits them with kick starting Public enemy’s career and LL Cool J, and Rakim have stated the Beasties were instrumental in solidifying Hip Hop as a genre. Eminem has said he wouldn’t be around without them and borrowed their License to Ill album cover for one of his records. Questlove has said that their instrument use directly influenced the Roots. They’ve been there since the beginning and they never tried to be “black”, they did their own thing in their own way but they’ve always stayed true to the core of what Hip Hop is.
I've always had a special relationship with RUN DMC and Beastie Boys! We're all the same age and from NYC. I've been down with their music since 1983 to the present day. We share a lot in common because we're from the same generation. Both bands also toured with my frat bruthas FISHBONE! So this shit is deep! Beastie Boys are one of my all-time favorite hip-hop groups. They're possibly the funkiest white dudes in music history! PAUL'S BOUTIQUE is the serious joint! However, I have to strongly disagree with you about them not acting "Black"! They used to wear doo rags on their heads and Puma sweats, along with the Puma Clydes with the fat laces. It was Russell Simmons who told them that doing "Black Face" wasn't necessary for white rappers! Just be yourselves. And I agree that the Beastie Boys always kept it real and never embarrassed Black people by never imitating a jigaboo impersonation! They're great ambassadors of rap music! But, by being white rappers who were rhyming on the mic to funky music that was created by Black American people and their culture, they were already essentially acting like they were Black! They had to sound funky and carry a certain swagger like the Black rappers that inspired them and which they were emulating.
Love it - lyrics don't have to mean much when you feel the energy from it. But the Beastie Boys lyrics and performance, and videos usually make it even better.
HEYYY......MISFITS!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice Jai!! You're making me nostalgic, I might have to go dig out my skateboard and give myself a Mohawk..lol Shake Your Rump, not literally, unless you two want to 😊, ..Beastie Boys song that is sooooo under rated, it's off Paul's Boutique, it's a track that back in the day, really upped the bar for sampling, mixing in everyday sounds, and whole different tempos in one song. Great reaction, as usual!! ✌️❤️️
Beastie Boys were there for the beginning of both hip hop and hardcore punk. They're literally OG's in two massively influential genres, as their earliest music was Lower East Side hardcore punk. They even named their group to have the same initials as Bad Brains, their idols. Bad Brains were a group of black Rasta dudes from DC that were basically the inventors of hardcore punk, and they also incorporated reggae into their sound early as well as heavy groove rock later in their tenure. Now there's a whole nother rabbit hole, digging into Bad Brains.

I feel ya. 46. my daughter who is 25 now. got to grow up listening to all variety's of music. Paul revere is one of her fav's. any time we are were there is karaoke. party's what ever. we'll grab a mic and do paul revere and blows her friends away, A. cause they never heard it. B. she knows every line. C. Her dad does two.
I’m 51, and remember buying License To Ill on cassette when I was 17. We wore out the tape jamming to it at work! I went from these guys straight to NWA, and Public Enemy. But, around 1987 I was introduced to the music of Sir Mix-a-Lot. The album Swass is pretty cool, specially the single Posse On Broadway.
Hey y'all (yes I'm Southern 🤣, I say y'all) Quick heads up for when you do "Sabatoge." It's like a little movie. It was directed by Spike Jonez & it's a parody of the 1970's cop shows. It's hilarious!! 🤣🎵
Yes!!! Do Misfits and Danzig! AstroZombies, Last Caress, Mother, Where Eagles Dare...
I'm so excited for the reaction community! It's always fun to watch the community get on some classic music they just discovered for the first time.
Please! react to Beastie Boys "Root Down"
You two are what I look for out here on UA-cam. Discovering good stuff and spreading the gospel. RESPECT and love.

I was about to comment on that MIsfits shirt, and then you brought it up! That shirt is BAD ASS. It looks great on you too! Keep kickin ass, Jai!
Hell F’n yeah we want some Misfits!!!
Hybrid Moments!!!
_Teenagers from Mars_ and _Astro Zombies_ are my favorites haha
Y’all gotta do this song. It was waxed in the 1990s but remastered in the 2000s. They use an animal call in the song and have a crazy intermission mid song that will knock off your socks. 😂 B-Boys Makin' With The Freak Freak (Remastered 2009)
"If this goin' be that kinda party... something.. something... mashed potatoes!!!" -Archer, the tv show Gave a shout out to that song

Rap you were meant to dance to.
""Dance, I said."
Jai you are just too beautiful, my goodness. I've missed a few of your reactions lately and just saw this. You 2 are awesome 😘😘💜
It sounds like Public Enemy pulled heavily from this song.
Beastie Boys was my favorite group in high school. Their music got me through the crazy high school years. RIP MCA.
React to “Rhyming & stealin” by beastie boys
They always had the killer DJ, were masters of the sample & played their own instruments to make their own beats. They came from when you served the track instead of everything being a 'battle'. They were punk MC's who shouldn't really have fit where they did but their honest joy & non-cynical love of the music made it OK. You guys rock & I'm looking forward to following your Beastie Boys journey (I know you'll wanna take it after this). If you listen to more & dig it, check them out live in Glasgow. It's a joy.
Beastie boys legendary Rip Adam 🙏🙏
Where Eagles Dare would be a good place to start with the Misfits
Holy shit.. still have this on chrome. Saw this video on mtv and had to have the album.
One thing you got to understand about the Beasties, they loved what they were doing and were always self depracating. Probably spelled that wrong, but they were always making fun of themselves in their videos.
Yinz are awesome, spreading joy through music. One love, and all my support.
The trendsetters of Hip Hop. You’re going to learn who the GOATS were
This takes me back to the days of Boomboxes on the shoulder and clocks hanging from the neck!!!!
Everybody pauses the songs at the WORST places!!!
Nice Jai!! You're making me nostalgic, I might have to go dig out my skateboard and give myself a Mohawk..lol
Shake Your Rump, not literally, unless you two want to 😊, ..Beastie Boys song that is sooooo under rated, it's off Paul's Boutique, it's a track that back in the day, really upped the bar for sampling, mixing in everyday sounds, and whole different tempos in one song. Great reaction, as usual!! ✌️❤️️
Saw them play live when they toured this album. Best gig ever!!
FIRST time hearing the Beastie Boys!?!? Yooooooo come on now! Hip hop pioneers baby! At least yall on em now, respect!
Great reaction. Listen to 3 MC's and 1 DJ. Pure Hip Hop.

That Misfits shirt is bad ass! One of my favorite artists, Pushead, designed it.
Nothing but great vibes from the Beastie Boys! Great reaction!
Hey, watching your guys channel from New Zealand...love your reactions, so honest and clean....love it🙂❤❤❤
Your physical behavior alone honors and appreciates the cool shit enough. Actually, I don't need your verbal comments - it's just fun to see you celebrate it! Honest, authentic and full of enjoyment.
They were tight with Run DMC. Both Def Jam artists. First concert that I ever went to. And RIP Jam Master Jay,
Some people try to say the beastie boys didnt have a influence or impact on hip hop or they weren't real hip hop but i think they did even though they were considered rap rock watching y'all react to it was the best part of this i can always count on you two for a good laugh or to put a smile on my face🔥🎶🔥
Just subscribed cuz you make me smile with your energy!❤ BTW...Beastie Boys were my first concert I paid tickets for at 13. The warm up was Fishbone!
Keep on keepin on!
You have a really nice chemistry together! I can tell you really enjoy time together! Nice to see! :)
I got you, Half. Our bus driver used to let us bump this album on our middle school bus!
The misfits T is what brought me here, love it, punk was one of my first rebellion as a kid, mucho 🧡
I grew up in the city so this is VIBES of the time and it holds up. They are street. I consider this the moment before true stoop rap. They started as a punk band but looked up to RUN DMC so much they switched gears
Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 by Chuck D and LL Cool J. You should check that out because you'll learn exactly where their place was in hip hop's history by what Chuck D and LL say about them.
Public Enemy opened up for the Beastie Boys on their 1st headlining Tour. If you want to see how iconic the Beastie Boys were watch their induction into the Roxk n Roll Hall of fame see who put some in there
The Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 ....They are hip hop legends!! Just so you know!!
There is a huge reason they are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and you are listening to it.
Public Enemy used to open for the Beastie Boys and they are the ones that gave LL Cool Js tape to the label which is what got him signed. You should watch Chuck D and LL induct the Beasties into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
Hope I left same comment long ago but still feeding algorithms; "what'cha want" coming outta Jai's mouth every time Half said it look involuntary everytime!, And that's why I think those boys wrote it.
Beastie boys are the pioneers of hip hop music. They Rock!
Looks like Half is back to his old self 😁
Nice shirt Jai!✌️🌞💝
