Thank you! I wanted to cover a shade, for a guest bedroom I'm re-doing. I was thrilled when I found your video, because I am using toile. I did exactly what you said, and first attempt literally took only minutes, and it turned out great . Thank you, again!
Thank you so much for doing this video. I have 2 mini lamp shades just like the one you used. Yours turned out so lovely. I loved the pattern you chose. I'm going to try do mine after watching this.
Oh Emily, You are so very welcome. Most everything we get at the dollar tree can be purchased in other places just for more money. I know that almost everything the dollar tree carries they carry a similar item at Walmart or Michael’s. Thanks for the love and for watching!
Thank you for sharing this DIY! I have an old shade I need to cover, but all the other videos I've watched made it WAY too complicated. Your process is simple and so well presented. Now I'm off to dig through my mountains of fabric to find what I want to use... 🙂
Agree. I wanted a simple DIY solution, didn't want to spend 2 weeks hand crafting a Victorian lampshade from scratch (they are beautiful but too much work).
Love the look of that. I have a buffet lamp that has a boring shade on it. Looks like it’s going to get an upgrade. You took the fear of the unknown away. Thanks.
This is ingenious (especially the roll&trace technique!), thank you so much! Before I found your video, I was trying to use geometry! I also really enjoyed listening to you and watching you make it, everything was easy to see and you explained it well. :)
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE watching ALL your DIY & HAULING Videos. I appreciate how you explain everything in simple to understand methods. I would like to see different shapes, sizes and ideas. Keep your wonderful videos coming Thank-you 😁
Can I give this a double thumbs up? This was just super cute and so easy!!! I missed the live stream 😪. Was uploading videos and didn’t see the time. Love from Me and Ella in GA to you and the fam!
This one of course was an already lined a lampshade but any heat resistant nylon or polyester should work. Unless she is a little white lightbulbs and really anything will work. Someone at Joannes or your fabric store should be able to help you find which ones work best. Best of luck!
Thank u so much. I could not find a panel lampshade recover. I love that u talk about getting ur items from Walmart and Dollar tree. While I would love to buy glass glitter and other pricey craft supplies, it's just not in my budget. 🤯
I love the pattern of the tulle pattern but not partial to brown colors. It looks really pretty on the shade though. I like the sage green and the county blue tulle fabric the best. Gonna try to find one of those to do my lamp shade in. Great idea as usual Jeri.
The inside of the shades I want to cover is a little cracked and yellowed. Would cutting my lining the same way as the outside, but leave no fold over allowance at the top and bottom, work? It would involve a snip or two to allow for the wires, but I think it should be doable.
Thank you so much for doing this for me, I really appreciate it and now I’m pretty confident that I can do mine lol. If I have any problems I have your number and I won’t be afraid to use it lol!!! I’d love to see you cover the other shades as well!! Your amazing my friend!!! Tyfs, hugs 🤗 Teresa
Hi Jeri-Ann your lamp shade was beautiful. I have a question. I have a lamp shade that has the plastic lining inside. It cracked and chipped and you can see it when light is on. Do you have any ideas how to fix or cover the inside of the shade ? Thanks hun..
This seemed to be quite easy and a simple way to create a lovely lamp. I am wondering if you don't have a covered lamp, that is a lamp with just the wire base how can I make a shade. I have a lamp that I love but neighbor child knocked it down and the material on the shade is ruined?
I hope you show how to cover the odd shape one like in your work room. I have one like that and I’ve been wanting to re-do it. But I have no idea how to do it. So hopefully you can help me with that! Thank You Jeri-Ann.
This is lovely, I have a lot of lace trim, do I add it the same way as the rope trim? I don't have a dollar tree or dollar store where I live,f but I have an equivalent store, and get very similar supplies. I'm really glad you didn't add the pom pom trim it was beautiful and perfect, as it is. Thank you for sharing you craft, you are really blessed with a wonderful talent.
Hi! I have a question regarding fabric types. I would like a sheer or semi transparent fabric on my lampshade as I need as much light as possible to show through, my room is not very bright. Is this doable? If so, what would you recommend as fabric?
I’m a very very newbie at this...lol. Can you show a large tapered ( like triangle) shade? It’s got pleats I want gone. Replacing with fabric and lace trim
Thank you very much for sharing, how would you do this if the bottom wire came off? I have a very old lamp shade, should I just toss and get new frame and cover?
Thank you my dear. I have several old lamp shade forms. (Form is a better word than skeletons). Any way I have a frame/form that looks like a opened tulip and it hangs from a stem like frame....looks like an S, so the shade points to the floor on an angle. I am going to shabby chic it and try and figure out what to do with the shade. I need to rework the electrical system (stuff). The spine of the shade has 8 sections and wavy around the bottom. OH MY.... What to do.... it was an oiled paper shade, but did not survive the grand kids. So, I am ready to tackle this thing. As soon as I can figure out what type of shade to make. Sigh.....
Lol. I’m sure you’re so grateful to have grandkids funny that you didn’t care about your lampshade. Let me know how it turned out once you get your fabric.
U r making my house a home! Tip on newspaper--grab them from free newspaper stands outside/inside of different establishments. Boy, am i cheap! ThanQ on lampshade tips. I have THE ugliest lampshade ever; can't wait 2 try this.
I’ve done those in the past,so I’m trying to remember how I did it. . You used to be able to buy lampshade frames at all the craft and home dec stores. You need contact paper as the first layer or something as flexible. The fabric will sag otherwise.
What a great 24 hours its been. Last night was wonderful, this morning was great. Double bonus for us! The lampshade turned out lovely. Is there anything you can’t do Jeri?
Do you believe in reincarnation? i wish that you would have been my home ec./sew instructor in Jr.HS. You explain everything so well. Definitely would not have felt intimidated by u. I know I would have learned so much more with u while feeling less stressed and inept. It would have been a more pleasant experience. The toile fabric shade came out super Jeri-Ann! I would feel confident to try this project after seeing & hearing your hints. Would definitely want to see other more intricate lampshades covered by u. Would u make it a little more clear on the problem u would have if u were to use stripes? I have difficulty visualizing that concept...thank you.
Eureka! Jeri-Ann I just figured out what u were talking about if u were to use stripes! Took a piece of paper rolled it into a cone shape & saw what u were explaining.
Thank you! I wanted to cover a shade, for a guest bedroom I'm re-doing. I was thrilled when I found your video, because I am using toile. I did exactly what you said, and first attempt literally took only minutes, and it turned out great . Thank you, again!

- Thanx 4 sharing your skill at making a V E R Y nice lamp cover. Where can I find lampshade liner fabric ???
This one of course was an already lined a lampshade but any heat resistant nylon or polyester should work. Unless she is a little white lightbulbs and really anything will work. Someone at Joannes or your fabric store should be able to help you find which ones work best. Best of luck!

This is so neat and beautiful. I wish I could do this buy I have no lamps in my home. I have the tall lights on a pole from Wal-Mart. Tfs!!❤❤
That is your only source of light? Do you have a lot of ceiling fixtures? Or is it really dark in your house? LOL?! Thank you for sharing Mandy.
Thank you. This is an awesome tutorial.❤
I have a damaged net lamp shade made of thin wood. Can i do it the same way?
Please answer.
I love the pattern of the tulle pattern but not partial to brown colors. It looks really pretty on the shade though. I like the sage green and the county blue tulle fabric the best. Gonna try to find one of those to do my lamp shade in. Great idea as usual Jeri.
Thank you Regina. It’s actually black on ivory, oddly enough. Lol. I have this fabric everywhere lol. Thanks for the love.
I love it!
Thank you Robbin!
Is this flammable, will it still be safe to use l00 watt bulbs?
Great job..
Doing mine now :)
The inside of the shades I want to cover is a little cracked and yellowed. Would cutting my lining the same way as the outside, but leave no fold over allowance at the top and bottom, work? It would involve a snip or two to allow for the wires, but I think it should be doable.
Yes. Place the lining first. I would recommend trying to keep your salvage edge (piece the wraps inside) and little as possible. Best of luck.
Very cute!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️
Thank you Donna. You are so very sweet.

You definitely need some structure. Was the bottom wire it’s only bottom support?
Very cool diy!! I have a lamp shade I would like to recover but it's one with panels so I would love for you to do a tutorial on those. TFS 💗👍
You got it Andrea. Thanks for the love

Great instructions!
Please share how you cover the other lamp shades, thank you for the great tutorial!!
You got it! Thanks for the love and for watching
Please do. Thanks 🙏😍💕
Have u ever lined a huge scalloped edge shade INSIDE, then covered the outside?
Is it possible to decoupage a yellowed shade?
Yes, absolutely. You just want to make sure it’s as dust free as possible. Thanks for the love and for the great question.
Thank you!

Love it & thanxx!
You are so very welcome.
Yes!! I want to see more. Do you think I can successfully cover a shade that is just the frame?
Yes. Just glue one panel at a time and glue around the top and bottom cross braces. Thank you for the great question Gail!
I’ve done those in the past,so I’m trying to remember how I did it. . You used to be able to buy lampshade frames at all the craft and home dec stores. You need contact paper as the first layer or something as flexible. The fabric will sag otherwise.

how about a tutorial on 20's and 30's style with the beading and fringe? I loved this tutorial, Thank You!!1
What is the best way to measure
A fabric tape measure Measure the largest edge first.
What a great 24 hours its been. Last night was wonderful, this morning was great. Double bonus for us! The lampshade turned out lovely. Is there anything you can’t do Jeri?
