I am 73.I have travelled in 41 states in US.I can say you are really amazing to do hitchhiking so successfully. Hitchhiking was a very popular hobby in US until mid 80s but now practically no one gives lift to anyone in US,.....another comment your videos are so clear and contain very good music.
In many ways I am similar to you.I am also a vegetarian and therefore face so many problems in many countries but not US.There are so many Indian restaurants here.

but a small misconception that northern state people have is that southern state people can't speak Hindi.but in reality many speak Hindi ,along with other regional language also.some people can speak even more than 5 language.
I was in Bangalore. Only 50% people knows hindi!
The problem is they know hindi but they dnt speak or even answer something in Hindi. They think its lower language so they prefer to talk in English.
Sometimes south indian think north indian forcing their language on them ,that's why ..It should not happens if north indian think about indian should speak in hindi ,then north indian too start any south indian language
I was in yanam puducherry , I met people who spoke hindi .
