Thanks - I enjoy your videos! I have a 95 and I need to check my transmission oil. Do front and rear differentials need to be checked? Can you give some more detail regarding setting timing? Are you setting the strobe right on the 6deg mark, and if so , which one is it? Looking forward to seeing the project Sambar rolling down the road!
Don't know how I missed this. Front dif should be checked if you have a leak or maybe if you are a new owner. Rear diff is part of the transmission so same for that one as well, but don't use just gear oil, it needs to be a GL4 gear oil. Middle mark is the 6 degrees.
what is everything you would get done for a checkup on a recently purchased kei truck, any common tips and tricks? any good 3d prints for quality of life? KNow any good places to buy the wind/rain covers for the door windows? Any good upgrades or parts list?
If you mean maintenance, I would do an oil change, new plugs, air filter and a new fuel filter. As for you other questions, I would go on Facebook and become part of the group “Sambar Squad”. There is a ton of information on there and very helpful people.
Oil in the coolant will likely mean head gasket issue. Any decent oil today can easily go 7500 miles (~12,000kilometers) Send a sample out to Blackstone and you'll see 5,000 kilometers is too soon.
It was corrosion in the block. Decked head and block solved issue. It is in another video showing exactly what the issue was. 5000 km is when I do my oil changes on all my vehicles. Maybe more than needed but it is hands down the most important thing to do to keep an engine running a long time.
Oil today can be very effective at providing anti wear as long as the TBN remains above >1. There is no difference in protection between a TBN of 8 vs 1+. In my 94 TBI BBC V8 I run the oil for 7500 miles and at that interval the TBN is still at roughly 3.5@@turnbullgarage88
Very educational. I cannot wait for my Subaru Sambar to arrive from Japan, very exciting.
Thank you man, the lighting and editing is brilliant 👍
Great information and well presented. Thank you 😊
Hey Turnbull! Informative vid as always!!! Good stuff!, more smiles per mile!!!
Definitely get lots of smiles!
Helpful video, thanks. How about one on how to do a coolant flush?
Coolant flush vid would be great!
Thanks

Awesome. Can you do a video on your RPM guage in the dash.
Probably not the way I would like to as I did that before I started making videos. I do have lots of photos I could probably put something together.

Yea those are very cool.
Do particular years have the induction coils in the distributor or is it after market? Thanks for the Gret Videos!
It is factory, though I am not sure what year the change was made to that from points. It is somewhere right around 1990-1991
I have a 91 , it has points .
My 90 Try XS Supercharge has electronic ignition.@@dennislucas8745

You able to get a MAP sensor for a 1990 Sambar Try XS KV4-011913 (KV4H56R)? I will be in in Japan (Shizuoka-Fujieda) in December for a month.

The other video you showed the battery being on the side. This one has it under the seat. I am confused.🤔
The trucks normally have just one battery on the side. I added one under the seat so have 2 batteries.
did you add a second battery under the passenger seat? my '94 has a battery on the side but has an empty spot under the seat where your battery is at.
Yes I did, to have more amps for the lighting and winch.
where did you get the inductive pick up at.
Number one spark plug lead.
did you buy the inductive pick up kit and where
I have had that timing light fir 25 years
