ICE CityZen Award 2023, Bronze Award winners, St George's School | ICE

St George’s School students Finn, Samuel, Thomas C, and Thomas Z (Team YinYang) share their sustainable design idea to prevent sewage pollution in the River Lea and promote eco-friendly public transport in their hometown of Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
They propose renovating the local sewage treatment plant and introducing biogas buses powered by the sewage. This plan aims to reduce river contamination, enhance community satisfaction, and promote sustainable transport whilst preserving the local environment.
This initiative is part of their cross-curricular learning and citizenship project, highlighting green careers and sustainability.
The ICE CityZen Award is an annual competition for UK school and college students aged 16-18 (KS5) that encourages participation in careers programmes focused on environmental solutions. Go to www.ice.org.uk/cityzen for more information.
