    Hey there! Thanks so much for this video! I felt like this would be an easy job and when I had my car in the shop for another issue, I'd asked them about adjusting my hand break which was loosened due to the car being on a dolly and trekked across 3 states-it was so loose that my key would not release from the ignition a couple of times. The shop said they could fix it but they'd have to take the entire center console out which seemed really drastic. I didn't have a ratchet wrench so had to buy one (and they only had a 2 pack at the closest shop) so for $30. In 10 minutes I fixed it myself thanks to you! Keep the vids comin'!

      Don’t know, been a while. I work on many things. Can’t remember all nut sizes 😆 I think it may have been a 12mm or something like that.

    Hey I have a Hyundai Tiburon is has the exact same setup but my issue is a little different hoping maybe you could shed some light on it both rear calipers are brand new changed them s while back new shoes new rotors new bearings etc all that good stuff but only one rear tire will engage and the cables inside the arm rest are not even one is further ahead then the other how to fix ?

    • @TechnMoto
      @TechnMoto  2 роки тому +2

      All I can say is check your cables (one could be stuck) and check the parking brake mechanism/caliper/etc.

    • @JimmyPage455
      @JimmyPage455 2 роки тому

      @@TechnMoto disc + pad + rotor brakes all 4 tires no drum brakes on the Tiburon my guess I've never saw this happen but have heard of it happening is it possible one cable may have stretched over time ?

    • @TechnMoto
      @TechnMoto  2 роки тому +1

      @@JimmyPage455 As long as everything is working like it should then I guess it could be possible. On a serious note, if it were me, I would have someone check it. Nothing wrong with having a professional check it out. My gut tells me something is not correct or was installed incorrectly. Good luck

      When you get three clicks on the parking brake handle and you can feel the brake engage.

      You may want to have a qualified person check your brake system. If you did adjust brake correctly then there are some issues with the brake system. Seriously have it checked.

    Quick and nasty and wrong! Adjust parking brake shoes at wheels first, then the cables as described. If shoes are so worn that there's hardly any contact with the drum(s), all the cable tightening won't do anything for you. (Now thankfully retired, after too many years in the trade).

      I realize this comment is 5 months old at the time of my reply and I'm definitely not much of a mechanic (that's where videos like yours on UA-cam come in handy! So thanks!) but i believe Tony Quance is referring to adjusting the star wheel adjuster located inside the brake drum that turns to increase/decrease the pressure of the shoes against the drum before adjusting the parking brake cable. Im assuming that's what he is referring to anyway. Replacing drum and shoes on a 09 hyundai accent currently and adjusted the star wheel through the front before putting the drum back on but there's also a small window on the backside of the drum to adjust the star wheel once it's all back together. They sell a special tool to get inside the port on the back to adjust but you can also use a little flathead screwdriver. Just My 2¢ worth
