hello Dr Lin, I have been suffering from urinary retention since my prolapse repair in August of this year, I am 69 years old, I have a post residual of 200 ml so I have to self cath and I self cath 6 times a day, this has caused many UTis and many trips to Emergency, now I am taking antibiotics every day as a preventative treatment for UTIs BUT the antibiotics are making me sick, not able to sleep, my health has declined tremendously. I am looking for something that can help like Interstim or Axonics for SNS, I live in Canada so I have son insurance in USA, do you know which is best for Urinary Retention Interstim or Axonics? Have you seen patients with never damage if the lead is put it incorrectly? where should I go to get this done? do you do this procedure and if you do how much it will cost? Any advice is much apprecaited! I am looking for a very experience doctor that has this expertise to implant this device
It only works by interfering with the signals and modifying them from the bladder before the brain gets them. If the brain has no control or connection to it, the device would run its programming without any way to know if it works since the individual wouldn’t have any connection with their bladder to know. It only has a chance to work if the brain and bladder can talk to each other.

Here in Brazil there are good doctors, they are not very expensive, I know that in Canada there is a Brazilian doctor who does this procedure
