I know the industry uses clamps. What I don't understand is why use friction instead of a physical bolt through nuts and bolts. What if the installer had a bad day or in a rush and didn't tighten the clamp sufficiently? I suppose that could also happen with a bolt through connection but at least the loose nut and bolt has some holding power. On the other hand, a loose clamp has no holding power.

Not really practical in rooftop solar plants. Clamping is a better solution there. For ground mounts, we can do bolting.
