Boy, that door at the back might be a good way to carry a power scooter/power wheelchair but would definitely need some type of tiedown since some of those are heavy and could go flying to the front. The rear door could be very helpful to disabled persons such as myself. Cargo netting....generally I prefer doors but there are advantages to cargo netting as you can squish some awkward items into spaces using flexible storage bins. I agree about the two burner cooktop being placed vertically rather than horizontally. It would definitely leave space for a Keurig and I got to have my coffee in the morning no negotiations on that. As far as the microwave goes, I'm not sure.
I suppose it would depend upon how you plan on using the camper. If there were hookups or enough solar you could substitute a small toaster oven to do the baking. I might focus on using the cooktop and outdoor grill/griddle. The bathroom is small but functional. At least it isn't a wet bath! I do really like that rear storage door. I believe you did a video last week on another RV that had a similar setup but it was a larger trailer but it had the vertical storage underneath the bunks. Aside from a power wheelchair lift that I have seen in some classes, the RV manufacturing community has not really done anything to attract or support disabled persons who want to RV and camp. I think having a small ramp that you could wheel up a wheelchair/ motor scooter type item as well as finding a way to accommodate people getting in and out of the RV who have difficulty using steps would be to very big ways that disabled persons could be supported. Have you had many disabled people come into the dealership searching for an RV or expressing concern about not finding something that may accommodate their needs? In terms of getting in and out of the RV without using steps the only other thing I could think of would be to use a ramp or similar type of setup that some boats use with a ramp that somewhat folds in half and then could fold back into the camper for storage during travel. I just don't know what other options might be there. I think this would be a really great camper for a single person or as you said a single parent with maybe one child who also wants to maybe on non-child weekends might want to take it out kayaking or some other type of weekend getaway with friends as you mentioned. Another really nice trailer! Thanks Uncle Josh.

2x4’s, 2x6, fence boards, tents, water skis, portable tables and chairs, tents, car and boat parts, flea market stuff, small furniture, pet run fences, ladders, lamps, protest signs, tools, drones, R/C planes, trains, cars and boats, uncooperative kids, friends and family who have partied to much. Pets, big and small. Just a few of the things you can use this rear door long floor space camper for.
This is a great little trailer you can even tow with one of them new little Ford Mavericks with the 4K max tow package.
I am with you for dumping the external speakers.

Rockwood and Jayco raised the bar on small campers, Apex is answering the challenge. I'd prefer a full queen, and not crazy about two piece or bendy beds, but I'd make it work for camping. I like the small size, bigger is not always better, the comfortable but small market really has a lot to offer for those of us who have moved past the tent but don't want to tow a house trailer around. More choices and more competition is a good thing, it drives innovation and quality.

Agreed! I like seeing all the creativity they come up with in little spaces. Something like this for instance -- where else can you find an SUV towable camper that can actually hold a kayak without being a toy hauler?

They had big wheels and those altho not heavy were bulky and being able to stuff them thru that back toy door would if been great! We could of put the mini fridge thru there, the coolers, the tent the screen tent, everything we loaded on the dinette in bed mode! We had lounge chairs, and an outdoor 10×10 rug to help keep the dirt outside the camper, we had portable tables the Coleman camp stove, we loaded our little camper up and had to climb in and out 500 times before everything was out as set up! That door is a game changer! Wish we could'a had it.

I don’t like shower curtains- ever have, never will ;). I wish that back door was taller, it’s nice and wide tho ;). I would prefer a convection microwave every time, not that much bigger and so versatile. Agree on the cooktop, turn it ;). I am ok with a couple of netted cabinets but not that many. I am on the fence about that outside kitchen- not sure u can call it that with just a small griddle drawer. Nice size fridge, never like it when they put those tiny half fridges in. I think with a few tweaks it could be a great small towable camper, outside colors are nice and the big awning is always a winner. Thanks for the review- you always crack me up. When you are talking solar and batteries now, you need to mention and or look into the solar charged battery pack like the Ecoflo. We got one to run our house when we have a power outage, and they are quiet and can run inside! Think the camper world needs to look into these now instead of the outdated car battery setup that is standard. Could make for a great upgrade. Not cheap but much safer than gas generators and eco friendly solar powered! Just wanted to share as we have not heard you mention these new solutions to power off grid.

"Not Cheap" is the delimiting factor I suspect. In a market space in which everyone already feels everything is overpriced anything working against that factor is quickly detrimental. And sadly not everyone understands cost vs value like it seems you do

To me this looks like it was designed by someone who wanted to entice both the RV crowd and also the #VanLife crowd. I would make the following changes: Shelf doors that opened up towards ceiling. All of them would have doors except the area over the dining booth because you can't get a door to open there with the bathroom wall. (I really hate cargo netting.) I would figure out a way to lose the outdoor kitchen (but not the layout) by opening up the space from the inside (remove the front panel?) so that you have a little shelving there under the bed. some sort of drop down gate type of thing attached to the back of the bed to keep things back in the "garage" space. But it would be able to lie flush w/the back of the bed so that if you want to put in something long, you still can. I do wish the windows on either side of the bed were slightly bigger. Maybe even the addition of a longer window across the back too. And the front window should be bigger and also be made to open. Okay that's it. I'm done. :)

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  3 роки тому +1

It's interesting you mentioned the vanlife ideas. I felt a similar resonance with that here when I went thru it as well. Especially that rear cargo door vs. the rear doors on many van setups where you'd often find a lounge/bed/dining kind of combo seat

Do you think the guys in your shop could do a slight modification to that rear door, by widening it so I could mount a wheelchair lift? The openings on the sides would probably be the right width, but one of them would probably have to be the height of the window. Of course, It would require building a larger door, but it doesn't have to be made of the same material. as the rest of the unit. The outside of the door could be covered with a sheet of black plexiglass, to match the colors of the windows.

I don't like the cargo netting. Things look to cluttered without doors. The cubbies above the dinette could have sliding doors. Agree that a front to back stovetop would be better and not a fan of the tiny round sink since it's the only sink in the trailer. A lot of mfgs have the storage behind the outdoor cooktop which is a waste of space unless you enjoy getting burned. I would like to see them move the cooktop up and have the storage under it. Also, if they are going to call this a Remote model and market it as off-road it should have a 12v fridge and an upgradeable solar setup. I would rather have a solar hook up for a more powerful solar system and pay extra for the panels. All that being said, this is a great little trailer. Love the bike rack and pass through storage. The toy lock is cool too and the bike rack is awesome. Love the flip up bed/toy hauler feature. I would flip the bed up and have a counter extension on hinges and use it as a mobile office area. Love the ledge and storage area there. You could easily put your office supplies in the nook and put your monitors on the ledge. Move your laptop over at night and pull the bed down. I would also rather see the TV mount on that wall since the door wouldn't really work with the TV mount where it is. The trailer could make better use of the space and not overkill the windows. The appeal to me is that it can be towed with a smaller vehicle and sits high for off-roading. Great video. Thanks for the great work!!

Does the rig have a black tank flush or is it a magic wand only rig?. Walkable roof? just remember I'm going to turn that hot shot around on you every time you say Rockford instead of Rockwood so... ;)
Regarding 4Runner towing.. I think I actually have *GOOD NEWS* for you!
The max weight of this is just over 3,800lbs WITH CARGO.. so your vehicle would have about a 1,200lb buffer and not be "burning your candle at both ends" as it were

What is the official way they measure trailer frontal area? Is the gap between the ground and the bottom of the trailer included in frontal area calculations? And do they include all the stuff sticking out of the top of the roof, lice a/c units, solar arrays, vents, antennas and skylights and stuff hanging off the sides like awnings, fenders, racks and such?
The reason I ask, is a number of smaller lighter tow vehicles also include a frontal area size limitation in there tow ratings. Like 20, 35 or 40 square feet of area. In short, a trailer might be light enough, but have to much front facing surface area for wind drag.

That’s not a measurement I’ve ever seen from a factory nor has anyone ever asked me that before. It’s a great question but I do not have the answer
