My upper body went across with my hip turn too. One thing I am training with a stability ball is thoracic extension so I can get in that spot at the back swing and end with the thoracic extension the follow through.
More of this content! Great video Josh. Would love to see a follow up showing more of the med ball drills for ingraining transition and the downswing feels/application of force.
Outstanding information!!! I'll tell ya. I went to a golf school in 2001. I just found the still pictures they took of us that week. My swing was so long on the backswing I could see the clubhead out of the corner of my left eye at the top of my backswing. It was like a "checkpoint" that I went far enough. The pro wanted me to train that long backswing out. Fast forward and here we are I trained that out years ago and now I'm watching drills training that in. Granted I had to much extension in my spine at the top. I hit it a ton too back then. I averaged somewhere around 295 - 300 carry with a 43" Titleist 975D driver with a UST ProForce Gold shaft. Still have it and man does it weigh a ton. I love that towel drill. That's gold right there. Dana is the best!!! You're pretty good to Josh....lol.
I have the SAME exact issue. The drill with the throwing the bag behind you on the backswing is such a good feel if you are someone who gets too much of their upper body over the trail side.
Great vid Josh and Dana liked the towel drill and the breakdown of the trigger left . That was explained well. I've heard it before but didn't grasp it's to help find the right brake ....my right brake is so late. Excited to try these 2 things out. 🤙🤙👌👌
I have the same pelvis rotation that would then causes the center mass to laterally sway without organizing and lose angles . This backpack drill def makes sense and appears it would help increase those verticals
Hi Josh, great video! I really like this upper body move it helps me get easier downward pressure into lead foot in transition. In terms of speed production, does this move not reduce the moment arm, and reduce speed potential? It seems to conflict with a lot of advice on keeping mass back and get pressure lead side.
It helps a lot of golfers by providing stability and structure to the lower body. We've seen it help most golfers, but there are certainly some who do it well already who it wouldn't benefit. Like any drill, figuring out when to use it is important
Not a PT (I’m a medical student, so my knowledge base is very minimal) but I am also really flat footed and I think it causes other issues for me. I find it’s the opposite for me, that I try to keep my femurs externally rotated at address and my pressure tends to stay on the outsides of my feet. As a result in my backswing, I don’t load the trail side because I’m not turning into my hip/femur - it feels as though I’m just turning with my hip if that makes sense. As a result I don’t feel a stretch or Load in my glutes and am probably a lot slower than I could be in terms of swing speed. This is obviously my own interpretation and I’m not a swing coach so I could be very very wrong when it comes to my feels vs reals haha.
If you ask a specific question about what you're not understanding, Josh or others can explain. Dana uses a lot of terminology that's kind of unique to him/his style, so the more exposure to him you get, the more you'll understand.

This is a much longer instruction video than I would normally watch - glad I did though! Would love to see more of this.

We’ve got more Dana lessons coming up. Stay tuned 👍
Great vid man! Love the added more in depth descriptions.
Appreciate it! More Dana content coming soon
This is an awesome description of the fundamentals of the driver swing
Glad you found it helpful

Thanks for the comment! That driver sounds like a tank
@@hitbombs it sure was a tank. The weld along the bottom of the face is cracked. The bulg and roll is almost non-existent. Just a wall hanger now
@@industrialpalletworx3548 hit same driver similar distances :). slipped disk has not helped over the years and back issues.
This was fantastic man
Thanks Drew. Looking forward to getting the podcast with you up 😎

Such a good drill. Thanks for the comment 👍
This video is great! Thank you, Josh. Dana is the best!
Glad you liked it! Dana = GOAT
That was a great video and really liked the early left trigger and braking move. Well filmed and edited too. Cheers
Thanks 👍
So good Josh !!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment Team Downshift!
Wow, incredible stuff! This is really going to help me.
Glad it helped, let me know how it goes

Happy to hear it helped you. Let us know how it works

Like this, a lot 💪👍😊

Great question. He’s just trying to get the centers aligned, not necessarily trying to move mass towards the target.
33:25 is such an incredible endorsement for SportsBox.
Such a great tool
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
Is the towel drill something fairly universally beneficial, or a drill just specifically for this swing?

What is that shaft thing Josh has?

Greg saying “5’8” 😢 i felt that
I heard there is a club
🔥
Is their a cognitive thought to fire the right hip or does that/should that just happen?
Josh are you wearing socks?!!!? 👀
is this an engineering class or golf? it sounds like an engineering class. i don't understand much of what you are talking about.
sounds like you got some studying to do ;)
Thanks for the comment. Stay tuned for more lessons with Dana.
