    It's difficult for amatuer golfers to open or fire their hips early and not throw their shoulder over the top and the club shaft over the plane. It usually results in a pull hook if the clubface is slightly closed or a slice if the clubface is slightly open.

    Golf teachings are a funny thing from one to the next. I used to cross the line at the top and also had some body sway and flared my trail elbow out most of my time playing golf say 38 years now. The last year a few coaches I've tried want me to not cross the line, keep my trail elbow tighter so my arm angle from forearm to bicep is a 90 degree at top. Trail palm facing up and not swaying but only turning trail hip around toward the target almost. I've been doing as told, and I will admit the form of my swing looks better, but my distance suffers some. I figure the more I learn about swinging differently the more knowledge I get so I can make decisions on what I think and feel will help correct any problems down the road. So I do what the coaches say and practice what they feel is best for me at the moment. Love Dana's style of coaching. He adapts his coaching style to who is swinging in front of him. He understands there is no one way.

    • @Wrx2090
      @Wrx2090 3 місяці тому

      Put a water bottle against your trail heel and swing without knocking it over. Forces you to transfer weight and not fall back. If that doesn’t work just focus on dropping your heart to lead foot in transition instead of falling back

    Good grief! Your old swing vs new swing down cock were taken at different parts of your swing. In case you didn't notice, things are happening fast in your swing and pics need to be "nuts on" accurate. (pun intended) Hands outside your body, vs nuts on.

      Start as light as you can to feel momentum, meaning, you ned to feel it at the end of your arm. Technique is by far the goal here. Over doing it will be a bad idea. You will find that to begin, the first few reps feel to easy with light weight. Don't lt that phase you, continue the workout and remain 100% focused upon body. position and technique. By the end I guarantee you will be tired. ALWAYS less is more when starting out, do not let your ego fool you or you will end up taking steps backward with injuries or muscles tears.

    I used to be a very good putter and I grew up using the old Ping Anser putters that were very light, and I think it helped me be good on lagging long putts. I played most of my golf in the 1980’s and 90’s, and the greens were not as fast as today and much bumpier, at least on the courses I played and even when playing NCAA Division 1 tournaments. It was such an advantage to consistently hit putts on the sweet spot and put a good roll on the ball, it was a must on the more bumpy greens, because if you miss hit a putt, even if the face was square at impact it would not hold the line. And when got to putt on really smooth greens it seemed like the hole was so much bigger.
