- Thanks so much for watching! I hope you enjoyed the video! I will always play Rockstar games, but they have fallen out of grace with me as the best developer, imo. Red Dead will always be GOAT. Although GTA V was an amazing game, a decade ago. We'll have to see where Rockstar lands with GTA6. Can't live on a legacy.

Meanwhile, every product in this world, even the best ever made, is flawed in some way. If it is a minor flaw, it can be overlooked. If it is a pile of both minor and major flaws, that should be constantly pointed out, so people will know, what they are going into.
I think companies should be criticized more, just don´t waste your time arguing with their flying monkeys and enablers, who tend to argue with critics just for the sake of arguing.
However, don´t argue with pure haters as well. You don´t have to pick just between YES or NO and don´t let others to coerce you into either one of those groups.
Greed leads down a dark path of decline and lack of heart for anything but money. Unfortunately Rockstar has more than likely gone down this path.
The community has been trained to accept anything they are given. So there really isn't a reason for the company to do better. The "fans" will just complain and pay.

I miss the old days of gta online, rising up the criminal foodchain, money having real value and rare cars around the map to find. It was simple and fun, now it doesn’t really feel like gta, more like sims from hell with arbitrary chains stopping you doing things they don’t like. And Rdo didn’t even get the privilege of a decent start before turning sour, it’s just a clone of gta in its post shark state.
Or payday lite, they focus more of theft than the grand auto part..

I fully agree with you, I used to love them so much and always defended them but after GTA Tribology Definitive Editions, I have lost all my respect for them. I am expecting GTA 6 to be the worst shit we ever see.

Great video summarizing everything! I have stepped away from paying attention to Rockstar ever since they abandoned RDO and was even heading that way before their official announcement. Just yesterday I was checking out some pvp cat's videos as I haven't watched his channel in quite some time. I'm not surprised but it's just the same conversations that have been going on for the last 3 years or so. I think that speaks to Rockstar's inattention and neglect when the community is still talking about the same issues and concerns that have yet to be addressed over that period of time and even longer. It is sad for me personally because like you I had been a huge fan of them for years but to answer your question, yes it seems the Rockstar of old is gone and is in decline more and more. I mean if they mess up GTA 6 they're probably done in some sense. It's hard commenting on this stuff because I feel like I could write an essay on this topic but you covered the main points wonderfully. Great job as always McDizzle!
Thanks man! It is an interesting topic and we’ll have to see what the future holds for gta, I hope it is good as I have always loved the story modes of rockstar games have always been good but it’s hard to know if 2 good games in ten years means the next one will be as good but time will tell.

The larger a company gets the harder it is to manage and some companies try to throw bodies at their problems, which generally doesn't work. More employees doesn't solve an inability to communicate and manage. The company I work for is having these issues and they had to hire back and hire someone who ran the show when things were going well.
While GTAV was only developed by Rockstar North and Rockstar NYC - with support from the other departments as well, RDR2 was a different story. They did a complete overhaul and added 10 of their studios and employees as an additional support and formed Rockstar Studios as its official developer of the game, and I didn’t see them mess up with that project? Of course, Dan Houser said it was the hardest project that they’ve done, but they got there in the end. And please do not say “well, Dan’s gone now, they’ll definitely mess up with the next GTA.” No, instead they have promoted Aaron Garbutt to Head of Development alongside Rob Nelson, which is also a producer since RDR2 and a long-time veteran there, so now having 2 producers overseeing development for the first time ever, there is nothing to worry about. This community is brainwashed by false information. Don’t get fooled. They have almost 80% of the people who worked on GTAV & RDR2 still working on the next GTA, including the writing team.

First of all, where’s your source? That those 2 producers don’t get along well? Rob Nelson and Aaron Garbut are longtime veterans that work there since the old days. Before that, only Nelson was oversaw the entire development of RDR2, and it turned out to be the best project Rockstar has ever done. Now those two working together are because of the size their projects are becoming - more bigger.
And I think you mean Sam Houser? Not Dan Houser, he left of course. And no, as a CEO, he provides overwatch on all projects, as well as making sure the project gets released in pure quality. So he’s also heavily involved in that. He’s made “Rockstar Records” so that he can have his own record label and music for his games.
By the way, they have also hired Roger Drew, a 3rd writer for the next GTA game. Learn some things. They got at least 85% of the team that worked on RDR2 on GTAVI right now.
Money and Greed - it's what destroys all good things. For Rockstar it was the success of GTA Online that made the people at the top realize they could make huge profits for very little effort. Just keeping GTAO running is enough to pull in billions. Throw in the odd new car, coat, hat, race, mission every few months, and the money keeps on coming. Why spend money on developing loads of DLC or even new games, when a ten year old game can be "updated" for new consoles occasionally and have the odd online update that takes very little effort and very few staff to create. No wonder so many people left when they see this money focused exercise taking place. RDRO never made anywhere near the money GTAO did, hence the lack of support for it. You always back the winning horse, and GTAO keeps on winning. I would expect that with GTA6, their main focus is not going to be the base game, but the online element and in securing that they can repeat the success of GTA5's online with GTA6's online. Plus, with so many of the talent having left Rockstar, is the magic still going to be there. Or is GTA6 just going to be an expanded Los Santos map in order to increase the income for GTAO. I'd put money on some discussions being "you can make another GTA, just as long as it doesn't risk the income we continue to get from GTAO".
I agree, Rockstar were my favourite developers since 2001 as well. But now they are just in it for the money. Milking their cash cow, GTA online like a bitch. Really pissed with what they did with Red Dead online or should I say, never did.

As a multimillion dollar company, you know you've fucked up when you lose your executive producer and co-founders (Leslie Benzies, Dan Houser, Jamie King, Diego Angel, Lazlow Jones..) and still miserably try to hang onto your one and only IP thinking that you can survive with its decades long success. Just because Grand Theft Auto brand is recognized worldwide doesn't mean you can hide behind the franchise and think the money is going to flow like it used to before. The downfall of Rockstar Studios has begun and it's going to get worse because of valuable minds they lost in the studio.
It doesn't matter how much money they invest on hiring new minds, what made once Rockstar titles great were the brains behind all of the projects. And with Strauss Zelnick taking the CEO chair of Take 2 Interactive since 2011, this company is doomed.
I wonder when Sam Houser will leave Rockstar. If to this day he is still working with Rockstar, it must be because he wants to deliver one last experience to old Rockstar fans with the next installment of GTA. Although he is alone, I don't have high hopes from the next GTA.
(And today, I actually went back in history and played Midnight Club L.A. Complete Edition on PC with Xenia-Canary emulator. It makes you appreciate older Rockstar titles, the setting, the story, the plot and gameplay, everything represents the older minds that used to work at Rockstar, how much they wanted to offer to their fanbase, the standards they set for their products it is just amazing.)
To summarize, the next GTA will define the future of Rockstar Games. I won't be pre-ordering the game before I see some footage and reviews (Aside from the leaked development footages.)

Great Video brother, Sadly I Have no respect for rock star anymore it has changed dramatically from what they used to be. One thing for sure I'm grateful that I've had experienced their prime days and that is why I will continue playing the classics & The infamous Red dead Redemption 2 since I enjoy the story although I feel bad for those that worked beyond their limits which is not healthy at all.

Yes. They have become the poster children for "half-assed effort" in all aspects of game design. GTA online has been around forever, and yet there is not one single aspect of the game that isn't bugged. There are day one issues that still remain to this day, and unless it cuts into shark card sales, they will never be fixed. Add all that to the complete apathy shown on the topic of player safety, and you get a company well and truly heading down the drain - but with too much hubris to recognize the situation.

Your video describe EXACTLY why I’ll never by a take 2 or rockstar game anymore. It so sad wo watch a company turn into the satirical knock-off they always made fun of in they GTA games. If you take your time to sit down in front of a tv in gta online and watch it for a little while you‘ll notice so much parallels to the current rockstar … it almost make me cry how they killed my favorite game developer. I‘m done with take 2 and rockstar, no matter how good the next games are or how successful they selling them.

It’s a company I no longer have time for, they’re so greedy and carry on as if they’re Indie gaming developers. Even most Indie companies put more care into their product than Rockstar do. I liked them when they gave us games/DLCs excluding GTA Online but now and even long ago I’ve lost interest in them. It’s not just Rockstar, and not just Take2, I also blame the fans for constantly supporting their business practices and continuing to give them money for the sake of some digital cosmetics, or buying a game they already owned for like a 2nd or 3rd time.
So my prediction is If we get an announcement this year for gta 6 it's more then likely coming out 2025 to 2026. However if we get the announcement in 2025 I would say 2027 to 2028 is when we can expect gta 6 to come out. So do I think a gta 6 trailer is likely this year it's hard to say but my gut is saying next year for an official announcement may be more likely but I could very well be wrong and we could get one mid or late this year.

I can't lie my Hope's at this point for GTA6 are going to be low due to them not seeming like the same company as before. I'm sure graphics and normal shit will be badass but who knows about the story or the gameplay etc. Were at a point where they haven't let anything slip about the game but the whole world is on edge irritated with the wait with nothing. It kinda sucks waiting so long.
I am not here to defend R* but the way their games are made with such detailed worlds, you can't make that overnight that really does take time.
That said for a company that makes billions you would think they would recruit more devs, I mean if business is booming most business will open more branches and employ more people.
There is no reason they couldn't have people to maintain GTA online, Red Dead online and develop GTA 6. I find it telling that people who worked for them describe it as cult like, that maybe speaks volumes about where they are at.

I enjoy red dead online daily but I too am loosing my love for the company they filled my childhood with joy but now in my adult life they ignore requests from the community all the time. The ones who built there company us. We bought there games and now we pay the price :(

i don't even blame rockstar for the gta trilogy, that was take two's decision from what i can tell, they own the IP and they tasked "grove street games" with remastering them, it's hard to tell if rockstar had anything to do with that at all, i'm mostly annoyed that they have only bothered to put out two games in ten years

I have never been a Rockstar fan or fan of GTA in any shape or form. But I do love RDO. But once GTA6 releases, everything will be forgotten. That's just how it works, sadly. I wont be playing GTA6, but I'm 100% sure that game will blow the industry and gamers alike by storm.
Rdr2 was rockstars last hurrah because that was in production well before gta 5 and before the last of the big players left. I have zero hope for gta 6 the dialogue in the past few online dlcs have been cringy at best to saints row 2022 level at worst

when key people leave it can have snowball effect so they could also have lost other key people and devs along the way they chose greed and the easy way out after 5's success and gta online is a greedy and disproportionate game. hoping that with unreal 5 it makes it easier than ever to make great open world sandbox type games of any type thus making moot what used to be R* big thing which was great art and graphics

I want to add an extra factor that differentiates current Rockstar from Rockstar of the 2000s, especially from the first half of that decade.
One thing that Rockstar has currently lost is the ability to create that expectation about what would come next conceptually. Until the mid-2000s, GTA releases always generated comments and discussions that went beyond technical quality of the game. That "something more", that would influence the industry from then on. And this influence over the industry (as they did), was not a discussion about how much the company is capable of generating money.
I remember how the first GTA was seen as not a very good game technically. It was ugly, the controls were janky, but it was something new, conceptually.
Each new release of GTA games brought something that simply influenced the gaming industry for the following years. Suddenly there was talk of "GTA clones", just as in the past there was talk of "Doom clones".
I have no doubt that GTA 6 will technically be a marvel that only the brute force of money can produce. But I have doubts that it can bring something new conceptually like it happened in the early 2000s. Certain innovations depend on creative minds who are bold enough to try something new, which is difficult to happen in a heavy corporate environment.

On the ps2 most of the games I liked were from R* (gta SA, 3,VC Bully, midnight club)and red dead redemption is my favorite game of all time, and since gta online I knew that I'll never see these games again in the future (at least we got red dead redemption 2) it was the turning point for me that they care about nothing.
And now recently with the gta trilogy and killing red dead online it was the nail in the coffin for me
the fate of rockstar will depend the outcome of gta 6 if they fucked it up like what happened to cyberpunk then rockstar is truly done.....

The main problem with Rockstar now is that they are putting all of their eggs into the GTA basket because that's all the fans want now. I don't hear anyone asking for more of Red Dead or even another Undead Nightmare for Red Dead 2 as much as I did a year or 2 ago, instead it's all "GTA 6 when, where's GTA 6, Give us GTA 6". I get that GTA 5 was an amazing game and the online mode made it fun but as time went on that wasn't the case anymore when they added more and more things to it that ruined it and made things more expensive to get which usually would make you think to buy a shark card. Their failure with the remaster of San Andreas, one of the best GTA games ever was such a disappointment and Take Two went and took down the better fan made version so they could squeeze more money off their fans with their product.
Honestly, I'm not too hopeful for GTA 6, regardless if it has an amazing story because they will mostly likely do the same to what they did with GTA 5 and make sure they milk out as much money from players as they can.

God do I miss the old R*. Midnight Club is my favorite franchise by them, and one of my favorite games of all time. GTA hits the itch I want from Midnight Club, only barely. Now, I can't even cruise at the top of the map without a random hydra, broomstick, Lazer etc. grief me for driving like an NPC. Not to mention the disgust that's happening to PC players. R* needs to be sued. Fullstop.
Ultimately, it was Take Two with their shareholders that ruined Rockstar Games. I remember back in their inception they were a renegade company, a rebel, and people flocked to that company with the likes of the early GTA Games, Bully, State of Emergency, and Red Dead Revolver. But the bottom line mattered more instead. Alienating it's fans and players from good quality gameplay, with substandard DLC's that had bugs from both it's online titles. That and the lack of human communication with automated messaging with it's Ticket System, never solving critical issues then marking them as solved when they clearly are not.
Been saying they were in decline since 2015, everyone was blind to criticize them, but already most loyal fans knew there was a lot going wrong. Then came rdr 2 and everyone seemed to forget, ever since then it's been a shit show. Don't let their singleplayer games make you simp for them no matter what, they're the most garbage gaming company nowadays

Honestly, at this point I have very little faith in GTA VI. Rockstar no longer cares about delivering a quality product these days. And why should they? Back in the day, developers had to try and make the best game they possibly could. If the game was shit, it wouldn't sell. If it was good, it would. These days, game companies are no longer about delivering a good game. Instead, it's about which is the best way to monetize it. Rockstar is no different.

It's worrying that Rockstar has anything to do with Remedy, I know they have history but we all know Rockstar is now a parody of everything they used to make fun of, the irony.
Personaly i enjoyed the hell out of GTA V online without any Shark card (3000+ hours PS3/PS4/PC) and just started over on the Series X and i like the grind. Well online..90% invite only but still :)
But i think GTA 6 will not have this quality and the online stuff will be focused even more on paying monthly (GTA +) and with even more ways to make the grind unbearable so they can sell you in game dollars. The kind of humor will be different because well..the world changed and so will the people working on the game.
Great and well thought out comment! I have really just jumped into GTA a bit more since the private servers and its fun. There is almost too much to do, compared to Red Dead. I started the acid missions and they are funny. I agree with your comment about GTA plus and they will likely try to monetize the heck out of it.

I agree with everything you said here but this is all three year old stuff. Everyone has pretty much thought this for years now. I'm amazed it took you think long to realise.
Its been going on for a while, thats for sure, but it is really the last 3 years that has really put it in perspective tbh!
R* is truly fuking up rn 🙏🏽, I havent commented on gta 6 in awhile since I just fell off of mentioning it but we're definitely gonna be waiting for gta 7 just as long as we been waiting for gta 6 this past decade maybe even a bit longer, but ye r* has made gud games theres no doubt theres nothing like gta, theres nothing like rdr, theres nothing like the warriors or bully, but wuts going on with rockstar right now is there got their head caught up in so many wrong things and its causing even more problems wit gtao as we all know the whole pc mess going on rn, but also the lack of communication is getting worse, they've been just sitting n watching everything burn 🔥 but then take action last minute to fix the important stuff going on in the whole r* community as a whole very rarely do they do that, most of that other filler stuff can be held back they need to be focused on 1 thing n 1 thing only, communication n fixing their games

GTA6 is going to be a flop, yes alot of intrest in the beginning, then it will just die off....
There is a point to blame Rockstars success for them not feeling the pressure to put out games as frequently. But gamers who don't know about production underestimate the artistic and development effort that goes into making these games. Games are so complex these days that the few studious that can still pull them off have teams of hundreds of people and these 5-10 year development cycles. Gone are the days when a couple of dozen hardcore devs living for the art can whip up a banger AAA game in a year or two.
When you're playing GTAV you're playing a 500 million dollar production that took the effort of several hundred people half a decade to make. Requesting that titles should be released at the same rate as they used to back in the days when games would fit on a DVD ignores the gargantuan effort required to produce content for what current generation hardware is capable of.
Couple ontop of this how there's a mass exodus of senior talent because companies have become these soul-less for-profit companies and you're left with inexperienced developers who see game dev as just a job tasked with one-up'ing decade long efforts by seasoned artisans.

The only thing Rockstar does has is making fun games, literally nothing else about the company is worth a shit.
I still play the Warriors game today once in awhile but I have to play it through the computer they definitely need to remaster it for console the Warriors is starting to feel better than GTA once you get tired of GTA either play The Warriors or Red Dead Redemption 2

Just the way they handle cheaters(on pc) in rdr2 online and gta online says alot..
Rockstar has gotten slow about releasing games, 10 years we have been stuck playing the same tired game in GTA 5, I worry if GTA 6 will have a ton of bugs since its been in development for so long
I was done with GTA in 2013, 2014 tops, got some cred with RDR2 single player but f Rockstar now.
This is the end of Rockstar they lost all of their main people's 💔 thr flying cars and alian guns and weird gamemodes I knew it was going down after that
