This is a fascinating list. I can’t wait for your reviews. In my top 10 for last year was The Enigma of Room 622, translated from French. It was so twisty it still amazes me.
These are the translated works I’m so ready to read: Almond by Sohn Won-Pyung (I checked out the audio from my library and instantly bought it after listening for a few minutes. The writing was amazing, this feels like a book I’d want to annotate) and At the Edge of the Woods and also Echo Bay both by Masatsugu Ono. I Who Have Never Known Men is also totally intriguing me.
Reading books in translation really opens up new perspectives and approaches to storytelling. I'm working on a "read around the world" challenge, reading one book from every country. (Tracking it on Storygraph.) I fully expect it to take a few years, but I'm making sure to read a book from a new country each month. I could have given myself credit for a several countries, but decided to start from a blank slate. This month I'm reading Isabel Allende's The Japanese Lover. I'm also looking forward to Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk and Man Tiger by Eka Kurniawan
I’m from a non-English speaking country, so more than half of my books are translated, mostly from English. ;-) Have you read Blindness by Saramago? It’s an amazing Portuguese book. If you like poetry, I recommend Papusza’s poems. From Russian, definitely Master and Margarita, one of my all-time favourites. From Norwegian, Ice Palace by Vesaas, with beautiful descriptions of ice and coldness. If you like old-school, hard philosophical sci-fi, try Solaris by Lem. The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco is also very good. Bruno Schulz’s dreamlike prose in The Cinnamon Shops is an experience for sure.
Love learning about books from you! here's my list :) - the master and margarita - the shadow of the wind - the house of the spirits - the alchemist - the woman destoryed - the wind up bird chronicle - 1Q84 - lonely castle in the mirror - the travelling cat chronicles - what you are looking for is in the library - before the coffee gets cold - convenience store woman - welcome to the hyunam-dong bookshop
Such Small Hands has really weird vibes and beautiful writing. Only read it in Spanish, so, don't know how the translation is. Also, if you're in the mood for historical fiction Midnight Blue (Nachtblauw) by Simone van der Vlugt. It's about a woman wanting to break free from convention and become a ceramics painter in the time of the great Dutch painters. Beautiful writing too. Also only read it in Dutch, so, don't know if the translation is done well. Another book that comes to mind is "Tender is the Flesh" by Agustina Bazterrica. But that one is not for everyone.

Sounds like you don't have trouble finding those books, but reading them😂 I'm the same 😅
True 😂😂😂
I don't like the story of goat,it's quite disturbing as even we have to read about the sexual harassment story of a goat,it's quite disgusting!
Oh gosh, thanks for the heads up!
@@TheBookCastle you're welcome ✌🏻
