Had to pause this five minutes in and send my boyfriend to go get this ASAP, you made it so intriguing. You have such a charismatic energy, this was a dream to watch. Subscribed, can’t wait for the next video! 🏆
8:57 Well this has blown my mind! I always wondered about why they used these floating dialogue boxes, as they seem to just make it much more awkward to select the desired response. But using them to subtly force the player to view the characters in a certain framing makes a lot of sense.
This is amazing! This was the first indie game like this I picked up, and I was obsessed. As a politics student, my ideas of it were often focused on that aspect, but this commentary opened my eyes to a completely new aspect of the game. You earned yourself a sub
Awesome video! I really love the concept of the player vs character and its use here. Originally when I first play the game I was reminded of similar games, mainly telltale games and their games (a big example being The Walking Dead), or even We Happy Few with how you play as different characters over the course of an overarching story. However, Road 96 has the better advantage here with how it presents its story by showing right off the bat that the characters and how your over goals overall shape the environment of Petria, and it pays off in the end by having the choices you make with your teens impact the games ending and that your choices have meaning. It's a lot more satisfying in my opinion and captures the nonlinear essence a whole lot more better than the latter two games mentioned (of course there's more to it with those games, respectively, I'm just making a loose connection and I feel like the 'roleplaying' aspect is just done better in Road 96 compared to those two games). You brought up a lot of smart points, especially with the rules of thirds, which I didn't know about in detail. Anyway I love the way you presented the video, I really enjoyed it!
ngl!!! really enjoy this look at road 96, i really need to get the game... ive only played the demo but this video gives such good view of the games structure
Oh my golly gosh, I have played all of the games shown in the introduction, it almost distracted me from the emotional speech (you have a really nice voice btw), I feel seen, some of those games are really niche and no-one's ever heard of them
