I have a small anti freeze leak 2012 6.7. It might be the turbo coolant line it’s hard to see it. If I pressure test the main radiator will it lose pressure it it’s the turbo coolant line . ? Thanks
Great job with your videos A-Rod! Great problem solving and detail. I love my 2015 6.7L. Thank you for helping me learn what to watch out for to keep it running its best.
Should be like in the 200s. If it was black, I am pretty sure you might have an oil cooler that has failed. I would watch my emulsified oil goo video and see if it is the same as yours.
Question I have a 2019 F450 with green coolant, I’m being told it should not be green. I got the truck new and have not changed it , why is it green? 2nd question is it ok to reduce the thermostat temperature to have the coolant cooler when pulling my camper up the mountains. Or why does ford have the thermostat at like 190-200 degrees or something like that
Great video brother. I had an 11 in before christmas that had the gasket under the coolant crossover leaking on both sides. Job was solid but the upper intake bolts on the back will forever be annoying lol. Since Im a fleet we get to spend maintenance money as deemed necessary, and I drain and fill both systems on all trucks every 25k. Had real good success, very few leaks so far. Happy 2019!
AROD I have a 6.7 Powerstroke with an upper rad hose collapsed a couple of times, I finally replaced the degas bottle cap. Do you think I should replace the hose too?
What was the cause/fix for this? My 2011 coolant reservoir is bubbling and blowing coolant out the cap with tons of pressure building. Test for head gasket issues as well. I get off highway and shes built tons of pressure and blowing/leaking through the cap.
Does it matter which direction thermostat goes? I understand that the brass cone shaped pieces face downwards towards the engine but there is two different temperatures.. One thermostat is 201 and the other is 194. Does the 201 go towards the back of the engine or forward or does the 194 towards the back ?
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod thank you I really appreciate it. I would think that they do go a certain direction because of the holes beneath the thermostat.
Good detective work A-Rod. I Haven't seen that myself but I will be watching for it if I see coolant disappearing like that. Yeah that gasket was toast, I think you could be right in that maitenance could be the cause, there are lots of folks that change coolant but never go near the thermostat until it is an issue. Verizon interesting to say the least, some good info for the 6.7 brother
Yeah, I think she wanted to spend the weekend at Work. It was hard to believe how fast the cranking performance fell off over the past few days. It hasn't been all that cold here either. Passenger side battery was on the low end of what I would call "good", the driver's side was down to like 445CCA as per the Snappy battery tester. Showed good voltage though. Oil change, transfer case service and new wipers once I make 'er to the Shop today.
That wld be supper difficult to carry out for the fact, i cannot duplicate the boost pressure stresses coupled with thermal expansion...i might not get it to leak. Cut it apart ehhh might, might not show anything..altho great comment...maybe in the future...thanks for watchin!!!
Nice video yeah you right the thermostat not working properly because the gasket good work
👍👍

It's gonna lose pressure regardless of where your leak is
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Thanks for your valuable time 👍
Great video!! Thanks for taking the time to show us 6.7 guys. Very good info, keep them coming!!
Thank you sir
Mmm wow never would think tha gasket could fail like that.
Are there any more thermostats beside the primary?
Secondary syste.

As always awesome video. Top notch.
My mann!
NICE FIND!
Thanks broski!!
Awesome info! Thanks!
No prob!
Wat temp should a 2015 f250 6.7 run at? My colant in primary was black no orange color at all

Great video. It took 2 Visit’s to the dealer for my sons 2014 for the same issue.Wish you were closer to us.
Thanks bud, me too
While we are speaking about coolant why did Ford change from orange to green coolant on year 2019 power strokes?
Good question, i still do not know yet...stay tuned!

It is yellow, looks green. Leave the thermostat....diesels are not suppose to be running cold there chapp
Just saw my first charge air cooler ruptured today. It was actually bad enough to overflow out of the reservoir on hard acceleration
Saweeet
Great video they always give awesome tips an tricks.
Thanks 4 watchin brother

Good video once again will keep an eye on that into the future. Thanks
I have a P2185 code and the 6.7 going into reduced engine power mode, any solutions??? Thanks!
If u wanna get down on diag...gotta drop some $$
Hey A-Rod your newest video that you posted last night did not go through. It's saying it's unavailable!
I knw i dont knw what happen. Im tryin to fix 😯
Back up buddy!!!
Do to Bidenomics; that same thermostat is now nearly $70
What’s your opinion on the spe low temp Tstat is it worth it does it benefit or hurt it to run a little cooler

Then ull b fine
Nice Vid. How much coolant did you have to drain. I have to replace the O ring on the upper coolant hose above the thermostats.
Ull need about 3 or so gallins or Motorcraft Orange coolant. VC-3-DILB
If you're doing only thermostat do you need to drain coolant at all?
Yea u do
Now could I drain and not have to evac the coolant system if I don't drain past upper hose? Thanks so much for the help!
Just drain the coolant a little...
How much coolant do you need to take out in order to replace the thermostat?
Lil bit
AROD I have a 6.7 Powerstroke with an upper rad hose collapsed a couple of times, I finally replaced the degas bottle cap. Do you think I should replace the hose too?
Itll happen again...as it cools it almst put the system into a vac. Be glad, lol ur system is TITE!!!
Interesting leak points. All internal , is that a common thing. Or just from a lack of maintenance?
Out of all the trucks i touch, ive had 3 so far...
TGIF Bro great video. Might just be something that I'll run into someday.
Thanks bud you too!!
I always seem to get them leaking the other way, the boost pressure forces the secondary coolant to overflow.
Oh wow!!

Hey Arod I'm looking at a 2014 F450 w/6.7L with 94,000 miles. What are any other type of issues to be aware of?

Nice did once again a rod! Btw question. Does the secondary cooling have a coolant thermostat or is it just open loop?
It has two!!!!! 😀😀
PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod do you take out the grill etc. to get those little gems out? What's the easiest way to pop the caps out of the radiator?
Yepp sure dooo!!!
👍 👍
Different CAC on the Cab/Chassis models?
Nope!
What is the torque on those thermostat housing bolts?
Snow White got two brand new BXT-65-850's tonight...
Great content BTW Homeboy! ;)
Thanks broski!!!! 12 volts a crankin! Just snug em down. Id have to look it up..

You better give her a rubb a dubb dubb at the .25 car wash!
If the roads weren't wet here, she'd be getting the "Full" lol.
No wet here bout to do a def tank on my back here in china. Beautiful out
Great instructional video!! Are you going to show a video on the cooler and possibly cut one open to show the internal leak?

What light do you use ?
Snappy magnet light buy a Cronwell...same thing waayyy cheaper
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I don't have a Cornwell truck that comes by are shop
Awe....get em on line. They like 35 bucks...BA got 2 at work 2 at home!
Diesel or some other petroleum contamination in coolant.
I replaced my thermostats and gaskets at 100k just for maintenance not necessary anything wrong with them.
Coolant CAC, brother to 6.0 oil cooler.......
Dude, you have 3 arms.. nice..
