Rec Hall is unreal for a big wrestling match. One of the most underrated venues for a sport in all of sports.
I've grappled, my sons wrestle. Watching this kid's work ethic is crazy. Can't do anything but respect the domination
Hayes was in a world of pain but valiantly fought off the pin
He teched the number 6 guy in the country, like the kid was a high schooler.
geez, 20-0, 15 falls? this man is insane
That was exciting.
Retherford V. Hayes. Get it? Good match.
Presidential match?
Hayes was decent but his conditioning was not up to par
he did alright but when zain got the legs in it was done lol
99 percent of all people in that position get pinned. He is plenty well conditioned and more than that he has bueno guts. @@strictor2417
@@strictor2417 alright? He got 2 takedowns. We’re they lucky? Maybe. But hey, a takedown is a takedown when you’re in the mad.
The zainiac
Penn State attracts the creme of the crop, and develops them into a league of their own.
Man they are both so fast
3:58 peel back attempt
5:14 double to Jacob
6:48 power half
7:09 chicken wing if they grab foot while flat
8:20 chicken wing pullback when they defend jacobs
Zain's first 2 backpoints on the reversal should not have been awarded.
Def the reversal not the back points. It is college rules so I could see maybe 1 point making it 4 to 4. Point is mute anyway zain dominated the rest
watch it in again and pause it, Zain got control at 24 seconds Hayes got out at 22
@@Cheesusrice69222moot*, not mute
zain always finishes strong
Except when Diakhamolis wins.
@@crystalclear8813 Which is rare right now. He's like 1-3 against Zain.
Zain DESTROYED a respectable wrestler.
If Hayes would’ve been attacking the whole time instead of just standing there he could’ve won because 3:10-3:15 he was actually on the offense and scored.
You are obviously unfamiliar with the sport of wrestling
oldcougar65 🤣
oldcougar65 I’m not, but where am I wrong in the statement? If Hayes had a bit more conditioning and kept wrestling Retherford with grit then he would’ve had a chance of winning. Ronnie Perry from Lock Haven, everyone though Zain was gonna run through him but he wrestled his with grit and his conditioning was good it was just Retherford was not gonna lose his last match. These guys are beatable anybody is in college just look at Dan Gable just proves anyone is beatable. By the way i’m a Nittany Lion fan all the way but a lot of guys didn’t wrestle Zain with grit and when they did they would stop and give up (Mayes, Hayes, and Perry for example).
@@jt519 So your opinion is: he got a takedown when Zain was being over-agressive, then got a lucky td off the mat when Zain relaxed, all in a few seconds time. All he had to do was maintain the same level of agressiveness for 3 periods against Zain's relentless pressure. Yeah, right. You are obviously unfamiliar with the sport of wrestling.
oldcougar65 I’m not unfamiliar, wrestlers aren’t invisible so why treat them that way? I’m a huge Penn State fan but no one in college ever pushed Zain to his limit. When you look at people who match his pace like Ronnie Perry or even Brandon Sorensen(sometimes) he was wining 2-1 5-1, but if everyone wrestled him with that intensity every match his road to a national championship would be harder. If you are implying Zain was pretty much invisible in College then that’s not true, no one is invisible PRIME example Dan Gable. Larry Owings matched his pace and beat him.
LOL, Zain totally wrecked guys from the top : D One of my favorite college wrestlers ever!
