    Awesome video. I had a $140 Mad Rock Safeguard, $40 Hand Ascender, Carabiners, and a Foot Strap ordered- just cancelled them. You rock!

      No disrespect to the creator here. I'm just throwing out some helpful bits of knowledge I've gained from research. Just be warned, rope on rope friction will wear out a rope faster than using a metal belay device(i.e. Madrock, Grigri, figure 8, etc.). As for you canceling your order for a Madrock for $140🤬. That should have been canceled on principle alone. Madrock Safeguards should only be around $90.
      *friendly FIY Moosejaw has them for only $89.95 with free shipping.

    Where do you get your ropes from? Great video by the way! I am definitely going to try this at my own risk :) Thank you for sharing!

    Forgive these stupid question - Can you elaborate more on what you do with the DRT lines themselves when you get to the platform height and begin to hunt? After mounting the platform and a tether at the height you prefer, do you keep both the DRT half hitches tied on while you hunt? Would love to see more about that last part of the setup.

      A lot of times I will attach my tether and then leave the Drt system attached with a little slack as a secondary tether or safety. I simply coil the excess line up and hang it from a limb or stuff it in my pack.

    I see a lot of videos dealing with the Blake’s hitch but none ever show where, how or why the rope is anchored. Or is it anchored? Do you just throw the rope around a crotch or what? Your video actually showed how to ascend which I couldn’t find in other videos. Great explanation of the Blake’s hitch though. Thank you

      The rule of thumb I use is to throw the rope over a limb or crotch bigger than my forearm. The tag end is then brought down and used to tie the Blake’s hitch. It is not anchored. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Best of luck to you

      @@perryfrazeoutdoors8019 yes, that helps. That little detail had me researching and confused for a minute. Thank you. That answer allows me to move forward 😃 At my own risk of course.

    Whats best length of rope to have for this system

    • @perryfrazeoutdoors8019
      @perryfrazeoutdoors8019  5 місяців тому

      Length is twice the height of limb you throw it over plus around 6’. That being said, I usually carry 45’ or so

    Perhaps add a tiny bit more rope so you can do a figure 8 knot at the end as a safety knot? (makes it impossible for the rope to slip through the blake's hitch)
