My son has the 3070 and my daughter has the 3060 12GB. Both great cards. If the 3070 had 12GB it would have been one of the best cards ever made. The 3080 should of had 16GB.
To make 3070 with 12GB that would reqire to disable 2 of 32bit memory controllers with high density GDDR6 memory modules it would work in 1080 but in 1440p that will create massive bottleneck gimping GPU performance.

Listen everyone, I’m still on a 4core i7 4790k with a gtx 1070, most the settings on ultra you don’t even notice the difference. Some settings bring down fps and don’t even make anything look better. I run squad, Tarkov, COD, still hanging on at 60+ frames. Don’t over think your hardware. Especially this whole new panic over bottlenecking. You don’t have to go nuts on hardware, I’m upgrading now not because I have too but because prices are so cheap. I’m going for the i512600k and a 306012gb because they are under 300 bucks at the moment. As long as you tweak your settings you should of a great looking game. Make sure your games are downloaded on your SSD, make sure you don’t have background apps running for now reason, and good air flow. If my system now runs medium settings on most these titles at 60fps, then you well be more then good 👍. So don’t stress and just play!

Seems like it is a 10 fps jump per card upgrade at 1440p. I have a 3080 and a 3090 in each of my rigs but I think I will wait another generation for the 50xx cards. I'm not too impressed with the 40xx cards this time around... 😒

once in 2020-22 era the 3060ti was used to be 25% faster than 3060 12gb but now in 2023 for most of cases, the gap reduced from 25% to just 8-10%, sometimes even less, ofc with more stutters 😑
I'd still take the 3060ti if I'm only limited to both. I can lower the textures to lessen the VRAM consumption while pushing other VFX settings and it would still look great. These days I can barely notice the difference between Medium and Ultra provided I have the post processing effects turned ON.

@@nomcognom2332 He's not accounting for resolution @1080p its around 10% in 1440p its 25% or so. the ti is only worth getting over the 3060 12gb if your gaming @1440 and up otherwise id go with the 3060 more value over ti @1080p. Thats why the gap shrunk. Also he's using the gddr6 not gddr6x which is much faster.
The limited of VRAM started age now, I own a 3060ti now and it was not working great with Ray Tracing (which I love to play games with RT on), gonna saving lot of money for the upcoming flagship 5090 whole new PC build...

Those core clocks on 3060 ti are generally lower what I have. Mine are around 2 ghz most of the time.

So one of them has an intel core i5 12400F with 16gb DDR4 ram and the other one has 32gb DDR4 ram and has an intel core i7 6th gen. Can you please tell me which one is better?

@@llllllllllllllllllllllllll4313 For this, the i7 should perform better for heavy use (editing & etc) since it has more cores even though its 1 generation behind. Typically if its like +/- 1 generation, the performance gains shouldn’t be THAT different but the amount of cores does play a role if you would use it for heavier tasks other than gaming.

I do think VRAM is important but for example in this context, even if you do have more VRAM but the other card has less but is generally just faster. It's still better to go with the faster card, also not everyone is a PC enthusiast that would just crank up all the games they play to the max settings, that's the only place the high VRAM shines is on max settings for a more stable experience with less stutters. But if you aren't using all the 8gb VRAM then you shouldn't stutter much and it would generally be faster.
Even for us animators. It's hard to decide whether we should get a 3060 or 3070. 3060 makes it easier for us to rendering big projects while 3070 literally twice the performance and speed.

Just picked up my first PC that has a 3070 in it with something called a Ryzen 3700 I think. Only paid 900 cad for it so took the gamble. Am I bottlenecking this PC with the CPU? Trying to understand all of the terminology and what bottlenecking means
Bottleneck depends on which application you're using but generally speaking your cpu isn't going to be a bottleneck for gaming as its usually a gpu heavy task

FPS look worse but the frametime graph seems to be a lot smoother. Did you notice a difference when actually playing it?

When there is not enough video memory, the video card uses RAM memory. And because of this, although the textures are on ultra, in fact, they can be much worse. Also because of this, friezes appear
I think the reason is that most of games do not get 100% Vram usage with an average less than 8 GB.

5600 + rtx 3060 is well within your budget. that extra 4gbs of vram on the 3060 will be helpful down the line. then get at least 32gb of ram.
but check the prices in your area, your budget might be enough to build a r5 7600x + rtx 3060 setup

I think you'll need to upgrade in 3 years but you'll benefit the most with 6700xt if you're a pure gamer. If you do 3d, videoediting, you'll benefit more from 3060ti or 3070 if you can find those for ~$300

I think your 3060ti did poorly in the first few tests. In The Last of US it gets more performance, and in the test it is practically equal to the common 3060.

The 3060 12gb, that's what I have. The VRAM helps with everything, because it's always in reserve if you need extra. Just common sense. 8gb cards are okay, but not for streaming imo.

I can´t understand how a remastered game like TLOU that runs perfectly ar 60fps in FHD in the PS4 with 1.84 TFLOPS, can't run at 60fps at same resolution in an RTX 3060 12GB with 12.74 TFLOPS, i love that game but probably i'll never replay it on PC for that reason.
the pc version is a remake, the version on ps4 you're talking about is only a remaster, these are completely different things

@@reqollect More VRAM is actually used when gaming on 4K monitors and all settings on Ultra. Even though my card is 12GB, when I try rendering some heavier scenes it says "Out of memory".

I almost wasted money on the 3060ti, then went for the 3060 12gb for a lot cheaper. Couldn't be happier, FPS just aren't that important to me. If they're over 60, great, if not, it just depends on the game. LOU, Uncharted, Hogwarts, other games like that I don't care if they're lower. That VRAM will come in handy for the future. Even if it is 1080p.

3060ti every day and twice on sundays. You can tune each game to easily run in 8gb and will always be faster than a 3060 its a none issue.

In VRAM heavy games the 3060TI is almost at the 3070 level which is crazy. Really AMD cards need better software features and to be faster in general. Nvidia cards need more VRAM. I think a used 3080 is the best until next gen GPUs come out.
What do you mean faster and better software lol, the AMD software is so better than Nvidia control better and doesn't look like it's from 2010, and you can undervolt and overclock in the software itself. Also the 6700 XT is the best GPU in it's price, you can also get the 6950xt for 600€ new which is faster than a 3080 and has 16 gb of VRAM.
@@TheACTIONZ What he meant was probably what most people say "nvidia gimmicks". That gimmicks include any AI-based stuff like dlss, painter, broadcaster, raytracing support (remix community support etc) which amd gpus lack any of those features or just generally inferior to what nvidia offers. If only amd had those "gimmicks" and do better than nvidia me and probably most people would be easily copping any amd gpus and dethrone nvidia once for all.

Let's say raytracing not just for gaming, eg: 3d model and 3d mapping raytracing. Amd RT compared to nvidia and Intel still being the worst performer to this day.

It doesn't make sense why the powerful cards had less vram. Like it would make more sense if the rtx 3060 had 8gb, the 3060ti had 10gb the 3070 had 12gb and the 3080 16gb.

I tried a 3060 ti and it could do 1440p60 with max settings and max RT using DLSS/FSR in quality or balanced mode. In Control, Metro Exodus, Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7, Doom Eternal and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
They are perfectly capable of managing a decent level of ray tracing, and it would've been interesting to see how they compare to each other.
Here in Brazil, if you are going to buy an Rtx3070, you will pay approximately U$1000.

Uhm no. Higher vram doesnt mean better rasterization. Shading units, compute units, memory bus, are better stats to look at to determine rasterization capabilities.

If most of games do not get 100% usage of the Vram (less than 8 GB in this test), to get 12 GB is not useful.
I'm torn between RTX 3060 Ti that is brand new for 17,000 pesos and RTX. 3070 that is 2nd hand for 14,500.

One thing people need to remember with the 3060 is that it will never be able utilise most of the 12gb as its not powerful enough and is already a card that struggles with modern games eveb when only half the vram is being used

I agree, but all about money. My opinion 1440p vs 1080p it's like 120Hz after 60Hz, 1080p looks so bad and blurry after 1440p, and if someone has enough money to invest in a computer, 1440p 27" must be minimum resolution for AAA games, but for competitive games 1080p is enough.
