Good time to drop this vid with the very unfortunate bug that PC has with the traits just now. Always good to know the traits with a bit of background behind them. A lot of players are unaware or run out to buy them all because they've seen them in other vids but don't actual know what they do or how they benefit a build. Nicely presented and explained. Didn't notice any issues with the audio.
Thanks for remembering the newbies too. I run feel the weight of our presence on one of my characters. The perk is not massive, but with hanger pets and attack pattern beta, it's noticeable.
For new players having survivability issues Living Hull (from "Surface Tension") is a very useful pick-up. +15% hull regeneration (+30% out of combat) is very good for a Mission Reward trait.
@@ryananon779 There are a couple from the Tzenkethi arc but both require specific conditions to activate. Regenerative Control Synergy needs you to run control abilities and Redirected Armor Plating requires the enemy firing on your rear arc. I mentioned Living Hull because it is just a passive increase without a prerequisite making it more universally applicable. You can actually put together a decently competent ship with just the mission/level-up rewards if you put your mind to it and are willing to replay missions. It wont be winning you any awards but it will be an effective base to build off of and use for events.

If so, Living Hull is fine. I absolutely agree with your second paragraph too. There's SO much fun you can have in STO before needing to acquire the traits listed in the second part of this video. All good traits but not one of them is essential unless you're the sort of player who cares about numbers enough to use a parser. I've never parsed in my life and nor will I ever.
@@ryananon779 Control abilities are great, unless you are running Fire at Will with beam arrays. Then they usually just put all the burning wreckage in one spot, or push it all away from you in the case of Repulsors. Since I like FaW and beam arrays I tend to run few control abilities as they mainly serve to proc traits with that kind of build and there are better things to do with those slots. But yah, I do use a parser but only for very limited uses. It basically helps me to judge marginal changes (Is this new piece of equipment actually helping?) and tell if a character is actually strong enough to not be a drag on the team in tougher TFO settings. Beyond that, having fun is the important thing!
@@matthewkeeling886 I have a couple of very decent AOE builds (Got a Vaaduar polaron scattervolley build that makes all my other builds look infantile haha) BUT I really don't enjoy the AOE experience. I love single target. Tractor beam. Overload. High yield to the exposed hull. Of all the souls I met on my travels, theirs were the most... flammable. I might not retire a mob as quickly as other people but I enjoy the heck out of doing it slowly. (I'm not selfish though. In team content such as events, I normally run a fire-at-will + suppression barrage tank on a Typhon carrier -- I'll do my part in a team environment and the only real higher level content I play are ground TFOs like Bug Hunt and Miner Instabilities.)
I had been shopping for these daily over the last 2 weeks to formulate which items and in what order I would get them. Interesting just prior to the video the supply got bought up and with the exception of 1, all the prices went over 50 mil. Boimler and Unconventional Systems for example were sitting in the high 30's low 40 mil range and went up over 60 mil. I for one will be and recommending waiting for a few months for prices to once again normalize. Nice marketing though.

Lol ya, I went into an elite yesterday and was wondering why the hell I was getting destroyed. 2 more tfos later I looked and noticed everything was unslotted... dumb as hell
I run Context is for Kings on nearly all of my builds, 90% of all the TFO's I run are random and out of those, half the time I draw aggro. I have decent DPS but not super high so the damage resistance it provides is nice and for when I don't the damage buff is nice. It's a good trait for midrange players in my opinion.
While not premium, there's also the upgraded base traits from K-13 with fleet stuff, it's in the "essentially free" and direct upgrades to the traits there

Intel Handler is new to me, and I'll definitely be adding that to some builds. Fireball doesn't seem that useful except for the bugged benefit, which I wouldn't rely on. I haven't got my hands on Fragment of AI Tech yet, so I'll look into that. Other than that, I've got everything I could ever need. I also use Maquis Tactics for my ships with cloaking devices, and Wing Commander for my carriers. Thanks for putting this up right now too, because I genuinely forgot what most of my best traits were after that recent reset. Have too many, and couldn't recall the details. I wonder, are you planning on doing this for starship traits as well? I remember most of the good ones, but I'm sure I've missed some new ones in the past year.
Well for me (especially if he does the same with the ship traits) will be a handy "go to" when i have to re-slot everything. Probably like most casual players, i don't keep spreadsheets for ten alts with every loadout i use, especially with them being all over the place in terms of level and access to stuff.
I feel that the whole issue with the bug about the traits is my breaking point in this game. This has been a continuing issue. I think I am going to retire from the game and move on.
It's frustrating but I'd give it a few more weeks before you make any major decision. 15th Anniversary should be a good indicator for how the future of the game will be.

Made me laugh when I went to pick up Fire Ball Escape on an alt. The price jumped from sub 7 mil, to now 33 mil

Sorry for making the Duelist's Fervor so overpriced. I bought up all the cheap/reasonable priced ones about a day before this video came out.
