I lost my faith in EA since Command & Conquer Tiberium Twilight.
They killed off a really fun sci-fi drama. Then I tried giving them a chance with Mass Effect, and they did it again and ruined it with Andromeda.
I think I’ll still buy it, still looks fun even if some players give into the pay to win I’m sure I can still play enjoy myself. Unless of course it gets over saturated with “whales” but I’ll probably wait to see reviews first.
calvin Smith that's what I'm thinking too, plus I think I'm in for the single player story more than the multiplayer. All though, I'm scared that when I do get on to play the multiplayer I'll absolutely get wrecked because people have more health and faster recovery times than me.
I still havent finnished andromeda and ps there will probably be a game move for the single player so there's not even the need to buy it to find out what happens in the story anymore thanks youtube

While I agree Halo 5 is lackluster, to say the least, the Req system is actual garbage that got coded into the game. Frank O'Connor and Bonnie Ross saw the multiplayer dev team put it in as a joke and decided to leave it and see if people would notice the terrible smell. Spoiler, we did.

I'm not buying it until it's 30 bucks or less. This is not how you do microtransactions for a full priced game. It's one thing if it's F2P, but not a $60 one. Microtransactions shouldn't EVER affect gameplay at all. It should be purely cosmetic or something similar (like emotes).
Edit: Before anyone says "But this is how you have to pay for games nowadays", that's what everyone who wants cosmetics and emotes are for. That's a lot of people considering most of the Star Wars fandom are adults now and can afford the $0.99 for that stuff easily.

You know what, EA knows it’s reputation is bad. One of two things could come out of the loot box criticism; either EA grows a pair, gives a 🖕to the investors, and makes a non-pay-to-play, actually fun game with normal progression, or they say fuq yu to SW AND FPS fans AND third person fans, and just goes ahead and makes this ten times worse than what we was in the beta.

Ever since they made star cards I've hated it like it doesn't make sense its completely immersion breaking like in the original Battle front weapons and gadgets were given to the class you were and bonus's were given to people who would kill players/npcs a certain amount of time with certain amount of weapons. This makes you feel good about yourself for surviving so long. Also health worked well because it was like if you get hit your health stays at how much health you have left after receiving damage. The only way to heal yourself was A) walk up to a medical droid which can be destroyed and repaired. B) pick up a bacta tank which heals your health a bit C) ask pilot/shotgun class to drop a supply pack which gives ammo and health. All of this made sense and wasn't immersion breaking. Also in the game you didn't pick up specials/ or unlock the ability to enter a vehicles, no in fact Vehicles would spawn in certain location even after they're destroyed the will respawn

It did not get everything, the game is nothing compared to the previous battlefronts. Ignore the loot boxes. I am tired of people saying this is going to be a good game. It is not. It has half the content of BF2 (2005). No 32v32 battles. Space battles are small and don't feel epic like BF2(2005). The cancelled BF3 was going to have space to ground combat, that was in 2009. Technology has advanced so far. They have zero excuses on why they won't have ground to space combat. The alpha footage of BF3 looked better than this beta. The previous battlefronts from Pandemic had these huge epic battles. And with Instant Action it was amazing. The AI added an amazing feel that made the battles feel like an all out war. BF2(EA) has none of that. I feel that people have been so disappointed with games, their expectations have been set so low. That is why I believe people are saying this is a good game. It is not. This game does not compare to the previous battlefronts. If you own a PC buy BF2(2005) on sale on steam for 2 bucks. You will have a way better experience.

Just saying what is your point for not buying the game since I’m thinking That don’t want because either you’re are powerless to micro transactions , the unbalanced system of multiplayer or both but I’m ok if you don’t want to buy games with micro transactions just want you to clarify the reason why
because of the p2w models. witholding content so they can put it in lootboxes. because of activisions shady patent that got headlines a week or so ago. and also because i just dont like that system of progression. my favorite type of way to get cosmetic content (gameplay changing content shouldnt even be a part of lootboxes) is through achievement based systems. like on halo 3 if you collect all the skulls in the campaign you get the hayabusa armor or the recon armor challenge. imo thats the best way to get cosmetic items because it provides a challenge and the difficulty of that challenge effects how cool that cosmetic piece is. grinding a game so you can buy with ingame currency or getting lucky in a lootbox just isnt cool or impressive.
I refuse to spend any more money on Battlefront 2 other than the purchase price. It's earned my buy with how much better it is than the first, but i agree, the Microtransactions are inexcusable.
sadly you probably won't enjoy it after a few days when you start running into multiple darth mauls that spent hundred of dollars to get advantage on you with all classes and you are still grinding away for one lootbox ten matches at a time.

Mephzice I want to say that I am not defending the game, but listen to yourself. The odds of seeing a player with all the best shit who has clearly spent upwards of 50-100 bucks on the game are extremely unlikely. Think of how many will actually be playing then think about how many will actually pull that shit. Look at hackers in Rainbow 6 Siege for example. There is apparently a big hacker problem and every time they update the anti-cheat system you see hundreds if not thousands of accounts getting banned. But how often do you actually play against a hacker? In my experience I have been against 1 hacker and I have over 200 hours spent in game. The odds of facing someone who spent tons of money on BF2 are most definitely lower than the odds of seeing a hacker in R6 Siege mostly due to the fact that many hacks are free to download or cost a dollar to buy and have forever, the amount of money you would have to spend to get all the best shit in BF2 would be way more. Maybe in 2 or 3 years when the game is dead nearly everyone playing will have good or the best cards, but there would be no easy way of telling which ones have spent lots of money and which ones have just been playing for a while.
TL;DR Don't exaggerate the odds of seeing a guy who has spent hundreds on the game because it is extremely unlikely.
Keep giving em' HELL and telling it like it is Act Man! Screw these greedy ass companies that ruin the core mechanics and sense of accomplishment with microtransactions and half-ass their games up front and also screw these idiots who Pre-order games which gives these companies an insurance policy to not have to make complete and competent games in the first place! Boush 117 Many games used to be complete on day one because budgets weren't upwards of 300 million dollars and there was no easy way to distribute updates to fix the games after release. Often in older games you can see one thing (action, gun, ability, etc) that is the norm and is generally overpowered or BS and thats due to the fact that those games were already "complete" on day 1 of release. I'm just throwing this out there.

You are right, some old games DO have that problem with some specific gun, power, or something, I'll give you that one. Also some bugs were never fixed after release, which can be another problem.
However, for example the original Battlefront II from 2005 has little problems like this, if you ask me. I mostly play the Steam version these days (which probably has some fixes I don't know of), but even on the PS2 version there aren't many problems and most bugs are rare and have to be found by putting effort into it or don't signnificantly affect gameplay (such as when falling off the map in Kamino and Death Star, your character will fall endlessly up until the point where the textures are gone, but this has no gameplay effect because you are dead at this point).
Yes, current games also have higher budgets, that is true due to system upgrades, model improvements and whatnot, but a lot of it is wasted if you ask me. For one I don't much care about graphics, but yet so many games spend so much time and dev attention on the graphics. Time and money that could be spent on actual improvements like content.
I just wish we could have some good sides from both old games (content) and from new games (fixing stuff) instead of wasting resources on graphics and microtransactions. Yet so many games these days lack meaningful content on day 1 or the content is dry and repetitive (like the abundance of watchtowers in many Open World games).

However, I believe that every purchase less companies like EA get from scam games like this is a sign of progress. It won't be easy, it may never have an effect, but every dollar less companies like EA get is good for gaming in the long run.

Dude, I hate to say it: But you are actively lying to us. For one thing: in the article you linked they specifically say that the more rare cards can ONLY BE UNLOCKED by ACHIEVEMENTS. And in the final game you can't get the same card twice. you get crafting parts instead. But most importantly YOU HAVE TO EARN the RIGHT to USE STARCARDS.
So what does it matter you have a all powerful card, if you are not good enough to use it?

Aye, he completely glossed over the fact that you have to level up before using those star cards, and that class progression is tied to milestones now such as getting kills with a certain weapon to unlock a new one. I was skeptical they were going to make such changes but battlefront updates has been streaming lately and you can see him collect weapons and credits and crafting parts after completing challenges

well half the time. cause you see, when you start the game, you are given the 2 most overpowered things in the game, the vanguard and infiltration abilites. doesn't mater if you got 90 health or 250 health, those abilites will tear you to shreads HOWEVER I cannot say the same for star fighter assault. already explained this in the video.
I'll admit, pay to progress isn't as bad as pay to win i know for sure this game is going to such a grind. it's going to ''feel'' just like titanfall 2 aka your going to play a few match and feel like you played the whole game. which may or may not be a bad thing.

John Santos Lol. This game is not worth buying. The gameplay whilst it has improved since 2015 I find is still lacking in content. EA had released an unfinished game to try and use the excuse that “micro transactions support new content” well the truth is they don’t. Also two wrongs don’t make a right.
I think Rainbow 6 Siege and Overwatch has nailed the "loot box" issue.
Overwatch is self-explaining.
But Siege has packs that you have a chance to get them at the end of every win. And this pack gives JUST cosmetic, nothing else. Yes, you can buy DLC characters, but the game is so twitch-based so having the best characters doesn't mean shit.
Maybe this is just me, and maybe I haven't played enough games that have micro-transactions (lucky me). But this is what I believe

Aleara Actually the crates in R6 Siege gave the game a fair boost in replay value and overall made it more enjoyable. The skins before the crates were too expensive to buy with renown because it would take a long ass time to save up for them. Now you can get pretty much every cosmetic weapon skin for free. It also makes it more rewarding to win and thus, although only slightly, reduces the amount of cancerous shit.
The Last giant R6 cosmetics can be paid by r6 credits directly,100% you will get this cosmetics rather than gambling shit so this is why I love rainbow six siege

The Last giant I had paid the elite outfit for sledge with my own r6 credits without a microtransaction gambling system.

I preordered digitally on PS4 before we knew of this system, kinda like a dumbass, I'll admit. But now that I'm kinda stuck with the game, I will not pay a single red cent for their loot boxes. It's the least I can do at this point. Plus I'm more excited for the singleplayer campaign tbh.
Well I kinda learned that lesson the hard way, but rest assured this will be my last preorder.

LordEmpyreal destiny 2 is actually far worse than this, because it has both micro transactions AND a season pass.
Noone complained when diablo II had a paid expansion pack. Or when wow has expansions every x years. You don't suddenly lose the ability to play all the original content without the expansions. Noone complained about star wars battlefront 2's paid dlc packs back on the og xbox, and ps2. Having expansions is a basic mmo/pseudo mmo model. And season passes are ONLY an issue if you do not know exactly what content it covers upon purchasing, or if said content is never released or released outside of the pass later on.
Destiny is going to have paid expansions because it is a pseudo mmo game. Paying for those expansions as a bundle is entirely optional. At least this time, the game was focused, and complete upon release without noticeably "missing" content.
Aleara It doesn't cut the content, it condensed it. Instead of six playlists, each being a different game mode entirely, people who did not upgrade got tree playlists, one ffa, one 3v3, one 6v6, called classic playlists, that simply combined the gamemodes together. Since d2 already has them combined, only thing I could see is them just mixing competitive and quickplay gametypes together when you play classic.
One thing you couldnt do was play anything that required content from the expansion, so the main playlists were, totally understandably, only available to people who actually had the maps, strikes, or whatever else contained within them.
Even today there is a vanilla destiny strike playlist in destiny 1 for people who don't have any expansions though.
I was actually going to buy this game.
