Sir Isaac yea man!...
Sir Isaac the funniest thing I’ve ever had is *someone called me Bebe XD and shipping my classmates with someone :P*
Bro same
I love those 15 minute laughter episodes that you have with your friends that make you unable to do anything except think about that one thing and stare at eachother
Anyone else feel the sudden urge to laugh while watching this?
IKR I don't know why
I did! I actually couldn't stop laughing through the whole thing and those pictures were so hilarious lol. I got kinda worried when he talked about brain tumors etc which just made me laugh even more. I've got a problem.
I laughed at his mock laughing XD
Me!
kurus kinda
So that's why I had to struggle to hold my laugher at the last funeral I was at.
Omg I've done that😫 and also at thanksgiving when I was around 10 and all of the adults were praying about serious things and my brother squeezed me hand and we both started laughing and couldn't stop until the prayers were all over. It was so awkward! And yes, we got into trouble for it lol.
Edit Name have you ever been like in church and you and your siblings just start laughing out of no where and you cannot stop? Because when I was little and still went to church that happened constantly with my siblings and I
Edit Name our teacher once said imagine you have 57 sacks and 2 marbles inside them then she said the answer and she said you have -- sacks to play with by your own and when the guys In my table laughed I bursted laughter I have a disease when people laugh I laugh

it was hard to control myself because she was a vegan her whole life and she always said how she would never die because her organs were like steel, and I kept laughing because I just couldnt believe how quickly that meat cleaver sliced through her metal organs.
@@skyluke9476 dark humor nice another way to cope with stress i supposed
Not gonna lie, I literally try to laugh as much as I can throughout the day. I am always looking for funny videos, shows, movies, stand ups and classics. Laughing is a feeling that is so unique, just like having sex is unique.
Did anyone actually laugh at the banana phone thing? Cuz I did.
yeah lol
Yeah i actually laughed way too hard at this, i like how Michael is trying to keep a straight face while doing that xD
me toooooooooooo hahhaahha

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Tech Core little not out side I laugh inside
I now know, why I get sarcastic during times when I'm in trouble, and have an addiction to the Humor section on Pinterest. My laughter is my form of stress relief, because I seriously can't find anything else that can calm me during stressful times.
A friend of mine recommended your channel and I'm glad he did, your videos are so educational and always interesting topics!
1:30 I always crack up at that part! That should be featured in a try not to laugh challenge! XD
My favorite laughter explanation is the safety theory, where we laugh because we recognize we are in a better or safer position than someone else. Someone trips, we laugh because we were safe from the tripping. The tripper can laugh afterwards because they are unharmed and thus, safe. This also helps explain why the same joke can be funny in one situation and inappropriate in another, depending on how safe the hearer(s) of the joke feels
I lol'd at the "Using a banana as a telephone" part, it was unexpected, and well done!
Thanks! I was looking for something to confirm/agree with my own hypothesis about laughter (the kind triggered by a funny situation) and finally found this. Basically, the first part of a funny situation makes us endure stress due to the nature of said situation (unexpected, unpredictable, abnormal, absurd (which could be caused by insanity), etc.) that suggests danger. But then when the situation completely unfolded, we realize that it wasn't as dangerous or as harmful as we thought it was after all and that's when laughter occurs to "decompress" our body from the effect of the stress, to relief us. The whole process of stress build up and relief can happen really quickly, perhaps in split seconds; the stress may be so small and it comes and goes so quickly that we may not consciously realize it was there.
I don't think acting is exactly Hank and Michael's thing, but their trying is phenomenal! :D
and you bet they were rolling on the floor laughing because of it
Their trying is funnier
I agree.
To those curious about being tickled; it doesn't directly explain it in this video but another video put together with this one does. It is theorized that being 'ticklish' is a defense mechanism used to know if a venomous spider is crawling up your leg or something of that sort.
Then in this video he says that laughing is used to ease your nerves when distressed and being tickled creates a sense of danger and distress. It's why you hate being tickled but always laugh when it happens.
We laugh (or cry), in response to stress, concern, pleasure or amusement when we are unable to articulate new intense feelings and thoughts immediately and the need to express or communicate such feelings overrides using some choice of words to do so..
I can't hear or think about mine or anyone else's eye with starting to tear up.
I definitely have a tear on my cheek right now.
I spent six hours talking and laughing with some of the most amazing and special people I know today. I don't actually have much to say on the topic, I'm just really glad I got to talk to my sweet and hilarious friends. It certainly feels like I've had a workout with all the gut busting laughter, though, so there's that.
Not to mention that it's always good to hear about the same topic from different people since they will probably give you a detail or two that previous person didn't.
Also, everything can (and probably should) get compared (if done properly, that is).
I was laughing until 0:27...then shit got real
ikr
yea O__O
Me too. That fucker must mantion brain tumors. I want to laugh when I dont think on my close reoperation. Wanted someone know about "laughtering"=(seasuring) dieing guy, or we wanted know something about positive laughter?
I love laughing. I do it a lot. I remember when I was in 6th grade and there was this list they were handing out of ways to tell if someone is on marijuana, and read stuff like "Breaks into laughter for no apparent reason" and thought to myself "....as it turns out, I'm a pothead, and I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT"
I, of course, found this hilarious.
Its funny because i laughed at video about laughter and also laughed about the comments about the video about laughed which i've laughed about
what
You have a brain tumor, sorry
Yeah that might be the Gelastic Seizures....
Adolf Hitler do you want to hear a funny joke? Q. What's the difference between Usian Bolt and you. A. Usian Bolt finished a race
exactly! i laughed at this comment as well
I'm laughing at this comment! Lol!!
This is my area of research and I LOVED this! Thank you so much for explaining in 4 minutes what took me two years of grad school to understand. This is why SciShow is so great.
Working at Wendy's years ago, some idiot put a can of generic Pam on the chicken grill... i knew it was about to explode so i ducked down and knocked it off the grill to the floor on the side away from me. It exploded with enough force to cause my ears to ring and it rocketed across the room and put a sizable dent in a stainless steel meat cooler door. I checked that everybody was ok, then... laughed my ass off. Me and everybody else laughed AFTER we could see that nobody was injured. Dont put a metal can of vegi oil on a heated surface.... it will explode like a vegi oil grenade.
Laughter is a cousin to crying. Both involve spontaneous convulsions of the lungs and neck. In both, your mouth is stretched wider and you may get tears in your eyes. Both dominate your attention, making it difficult to continue what you're doing. If you laugh or cry along with someone, you usually feel quite a bond with them. If you laugh or cry alone, you may really miss having someone to share your feelings with and you may feel a strong urge to share your feelings with someone. We love to see movies that make us laugh or cry along with the audience.
Why is is hard for me to hold a laugh when every one around is crying? Is my brain trying to cheer them up?
Stuff thats not supposed to be funny doesn't make me laugh. however when its not funny I start crying of laughter.
I am known for laughing outrageously when I am hurt. I once had a small sailboat ram my leg and my thigh instantly bruised from knee to hip (it wasn't broken). I could barely breathe because I was laughing so hard! (And yes, it hurt like hell!)
Another time, I was having my wisdom teeth pulled and started laughing uncontrollably. That got the dentist giggling and soon the whole office was poking their heads in the room to see why. Everyone thought I was nuts, but the dentist said it was so much better than crying!
I laugh when I'm in pain too. Mostly it's when I bump my arm or leg or whatever on something hard (which I do a lot -_-)
I've been waiting for this episode. So much enjoy I have!
how are actors able to keep a straight face while making extremely funny jokes?!
Usually because they shoot the same scene over and over and over and over and over... consequently the same material becomes less funny over time.
+computerssuck93 ohhh true true, thanks lol
David Cardiel They practice it over and over again until they can say it without reacting. If you watch the blooper reels for a lot of movies, large portions of them consist of a member or members of the cast having to do the same scene over and over because they can't stop laughing
The best part is that two of my favourite youtubers are talking about interesting things.
Yeah, but what trigger laughter? What happening to our brains telling us something is funny and to laugh?!
99% Unicorn that’s what i’m wondering!
Someone Staring At You
Why we are in earth
What is art
Why we love music
Why we want to live
Why its the hardest question
I know righhtt? why do we laugh when there’s something funny
cherrynotes it’s in the video. It’s mostly a social thing
i just got off and 12 hour hospital shift. that star wars reference made me smile. thanks Hank
Fun fact.
Speaking of relief, 1 minute of laughter equal 45 minutes of relaxation. :D
I love fun facts
I forgot about how you kind of go on a talking marathon with these shows. Not saying it's bad. I personally enjoy it.
1:09 i do that a lot my mum came inot my room once to find me laughing manically while my foot was bleeding, i stubbed my toe on the side of the bed and broke my nail and my toe started to bleed. Turned out I actually broke my toe as well
lol that’s funny
Your hilarious Hank and you make me laugh all the time, thank you 😊
Am I the only one that laught like crazy at 1:53 ? Probably...
+Magalí Iglesias Barenys nooo jjjajaajaaj
+Magalí Iglesias Barenys You are the only one who "laught", because laught is not a word.
oops, *laughed
+Magalí Iglesias Barenys The human mind is so very interesting! What you asked is a marvelous question. Simple answer is ; no, don't feel left out! Most people find it surprising to see a human be so silly to think that a banana is a phone. It appeared strange to you and it made you giggle. I have been wondering though, do we CHOOSE to laugh? Can you be 'blamed' for laughing? After deep thought about this seemingly understood idea, It became clear to me that that life is much more complex than i had ever thought. Everything we do, no matter what, is based entirely off of outside sources. You think you want a cookie, but that's only because the combination of substances in the cookies cause our taste buds to be affected and our brain decides if a flavor is "good". So you have a favorite taste, sound, site, smell or feel. But you only like them because of the way they were presented/cooked/ reacted with your taste buds in a tasty manor. The beheadings going on between our own fellow humans. We can not blame them for being taught that information. Can you blame anyone for being alive and reacting to life? This is not a justification for moral ignorance, it is an acceptance of all levels of life weather you understand them or not. So, no, you were not the only one that laughed Magali. :) We all laugh, the question is, do we choose to and why?
+SimplyHuman186 you must be fun at parties
Schadenfreude. My personal favorite source of laughter.
Soulmate 💕
my friend falling on a bag of rusty knives would have made me laugh...
I'm a sadist lol I think we all are really. we watch videos of people falling over doing stupid things which will hurt but we still laugh
@@leonreaper90 I mean... I don't
Don't worry I do that too, I think it's because I find the world endlessly and infinitely charming
I find different kinds of stuff than I used to, so that whole teen thing makes sense.
What a great topic! Thanks sci show team!
So, why does being tickled make us laugh?
It's a defensive reaction. What you feel when getting tickled is actually a very slight pulse of pain.
yeah what he said. its a nerve reflex
You are supposed to laugh when you get tickled? It hurts a lot when I get 'tickled'.
Sean Carson idk but its funny
I don't believe it's only for defensive reason (while some does). In nature, it is very unlikely to get the pressure and gentle touch of a tickle, mostly in survival nature, there are only brute physical pressure to cut, damage the body. Advanced social creatures will have developed social touch and feelings to ensure they are not aggressive but a friendly relation. Especially between males and females, it might have some sexual interactions.
Right when you said "Gelastic Seizures", I began laughing. And I'm still....laughing.
-Laughter- Nanobots: the best medicine.
I find watching them all good because, although they are all the same question, they answer them in different ways and to different extents.
I just thought about every single joke I've ever heard.
Vsauce AND Rhett and Link did a show on laughter/laughing. I love the different takes on the simplest things that we as humans do naturally.
I laugh at this video.
Ahah
Love the clips of Hank and Michael laughing after Michael dropped the ping pong balls. Too funny. :)
Lol, is it weird this video made me giggle?
We'll it probably shouldn't make you giggle because it's not funny., I'm not mad or nothing Its just my opinion BTW ...... so not funny
Gullbra Kisa
Ping pong balls are funny. It must have been thinking about it though because I still feel an urge to giggle thinking about the video
+ViraIshnia lol i laughed at the banana thing
I laughed at the banana phone o.o
1:42 "...and because Ping-Pong balls" I'm never going to look at Ping-Pong balls the same way...
Sci show can you explain why people is always correcting my grammar?

you make sure he is fine if he is your friend, if its your best friend you laugh immediatly while sharing a video with the world hoping his fall goes viral for ages.
subscribing to this channel was a great idea :O
the "bag of rusty knives" comment actually made me chuckle
I'm more likely to laugh at the voices in my head.
Good thing i laugh all the time with my friends
So now you know, If you're fat.. you have to laugh
I've never clicked a timelink more times in my life. Thank you ^_^
This was 4 minutes of duh.
***** I did.
Is
lifeisworthlivingfor "was", I watched it in the past
Lol XD
laughter is the best medicine! live love LAUGH
If someone does something embarrassing when I'm not expecting it, I can't help but to laugh or smirk. This has made me feel like quite the asshole a few times. And I don't actually know why I think things are so funny sometimes, or if I even do think they're funny, but I can't help but at least smile.
It's a reaction from the body telling us those area's are to be protected. Almost everywhere that's ticklish is where a vital artery/vein or tendon is, if you were attacked and hit in these areas, you would most likely die. These areas include: under the arms, which have arteries carrying blood to/from the heart, the inner rim of your hips (the area heading up to your you-know-what) which also has a set of arteries, the knee, where a tendon (which heads up towards the spine) is located, etc..
I laugh with almost all my emotions .. & I can't control it, it's been like that since I was little. when I got tired, I would go into a hysterical laughter until I'd crash, I laugh when I angry, I laugh when I'm nervous, sometimes even when I'm sad, & of course when I'm happy.. does anyone else experience this?
I adored Michael Aranda's cameos in this. Wonderful. :')
i about died at the banana phone part lmao. too sudden unexpected and incongruous
I wouldn't be surprised, I mean there have been a lot of studies about how making yourself smile can release the same happy brain juices as a natural smile. Plus I hear a lot of folks do forced laughing as a stress reliever.
Hahahaha "Fallen on a bag of rusty knives." ^_^
And we find it enjoyable as its evolutionary advantages to learn in this way from others mistakes, so we have evolved to enjoy it as its so beneficial.
It is because we are often sensitive to tickling on areas of our body that are sensitive or vulnerable for attacks. And since you didn't die when you got surprised by the fingers moving rapidly on your sensitive parts you start feeling relieved. There you have it. Both the surprised and relieved part he explained.
When he fell... Lol! When they laugh... Lol! When I look up memes because I found laughter is exercise... Lol lol lol!
There only things that can actually make me laugh are animals being goofy and adorable.
If you are sad, laughter IS the best medicine!
The lady's face at 2:13 is scary and hilarious at the same time.
1;52 sorry sir, but banana phones are hilarious, always
Hank and Michael had too much fun with the laughing bits. :p
I have always seen laughing as a instinctive way that we draw attention to mistakes so that others in a group are more aware of hazards.
eg: a group of hunter gatherers traversing a forest in search of food and one trips on a root, say one of the others sees this and laughs, now everyone sees and knows to look out for tripping hazards. Which in a hunt may mean the difference to success and failure.
This could also be why we laugh more in larger groups to ensure everyone is informed.
I can't help but think of yesterday's Good Mythical Morning and the great quote from Link "Laughter is like farting out of your mouth."
I laughed so hard I fell off the fridge and broke my cucumber x)
Ok no one else said it so I'm going to - cute laughing SciShow Baby makes me smile!
Thank you Hank! Im actually doing a thesis on the subject of laughter and art. This was extremely usefull and compact! :D DFTBA!
My son is a year and a half and he already has his first joke. "Good morning" He loves to say this at night, and he finds it hilarious.
Honestly, I learn more from these videos than from my science classes...
Hank, you may read this or you may not, but if you do; I'll be very pleased to know you have. Anyway, I do as-level psychology, it's pretty difficult I'll admit, but some of your videos have give me knowledge that I have remembered about certain things e.g. rem sleep, and I can't thank you enough for making interesting, funny and very educational videos. I am a big fan, thank you very much. These videos should be used as learning resources for older students at schools/ colleges!
I like more than one perspective. Good job to both : )
Love you Hank
That was a great episode, hank!
My guess is yeah, trees could grow in space, provided the roots of the tree are able to absorb water and minerals, so they would probably have to be planted in some kind of clay instead of loose soil that might disperse in the air.
Due to what's called "Phototrophism" a plant will always grow in the direction of where light is coming from, so if the lighting stays consistent, the tree should look much like on earth.
I'm sure the ISS did many experiments involving plants you can google.
I hoped this video would tell me something about laughting itself, and the reasons we choosed this expression as humans to express our positive feelings...
Wait, so why do we laugh at jokes we already know? You know, that one line in that one movie that gets you every single time?
How do you measure laughs? One laugh, two laughs, they are all one stream of laughter
You always blow my mind, Hank.
I was born with cerebral palsy and walk with crutches/use a wheelchair. Some time in my early life, I developed a laugh reflex every time I fall in public. I think part of it is imagining what I look like from "outside," (think Buster Keaton movies). But mostly, I think it's a way for me to announce that I am unhurt, so that people will not be afraid to come help me back up, instead of running for a doctor, or calling 911. Would be easier if I weren't laughing so hard..
Laughter shows that you have no sword in your mouth, so it helps you form bonds.
is it bad that I laughed my ass off at the banana phone part 😂😂
I did too
I am going to share this video with my Laughter Yoga group!
i laughed way too hard at that pingpong ball thing xD
You should make a show about corn. Where it comes from & how it's broken up into different things. Like how they put some things from corn in batteries. Or how & why some form of corn is in most products at a supermarket
