B/c if her hair was long I don’t think the reaction would have been so visceral. Besides, colorism is big over there and they prefer their women to be light skinned and if your white then it’s probably even better. If she were black it would have been different. Just my opinion.
I agree with you, it's the masculine spin on appearance with the short hair and tattoos that makes them question her gender. In the US we're a lot more used to her style and don't think much of it. When she was in the Indian garb, her flesh was exposed about the same amount. But, perhaps the "tight" jeans was a factor moreso than any skin showing. I'm curious what you think of that issue. When they said she was "showing off her body," that was kind of strange.

Jeans are not seen as appropriate in rural area (I've been told myself by neighbors but once your in-law appreciate you they will defend and fight for you. 4.) Once you have kids they will be all in. 5.) Married in any culture or country is never easy in the initial stages so just keep trying and always show interest and respect for them.

I got married like this after only a few weeks. My husband is from Eastern Europe. It was a bit rough and very painful for his sweet mama especially. He came over to the states 25 yrs ago & never went back:( At least this father hasn’t lost his son. He should be there with him and his new bride and be thankful
