This was SO GENIUS. Also, from personal experience, I can confidently say that THESE NIGHTSTANDS WORK BEAUTIFULLY 💕
This is for real an ikea hack, unlike those tutorials that use the term "hack" when what they do is glueing and painting the original ikea furniture
Maurice Estelle hahahahaha I know I hate that!!!
I really don't know how you girls sleep at night with all the BRILLIANT ideas in your head! Wow, this was genius. And too funny it came now because I've had the Kallax shelf for years in my kitchen and got the doors for each cubbie when I bought it. Well, it wasn't very useful with the four cavernous spaces so it just sat there empty. Then, like the Christmas tree in the woods scene in Christmas Vacation with the light of heaven shining down, I saw that Ikea made drawer inserts. I now have a unit with eight drawers that I'm converting to my tool storage (I'm a home DIYer) so I can easily access everything I need. Also I'm drilling holes for vintage style cup handles so it looks like a big apothecary cabinet. :)
Cant believe when I started to watch you ladies years ago...yall were costume DIY'ers and now Yall Are Here DIY'ing furniture dupes that looks so legit!
Excellent work Kelsey, Becky
P.S. this must've been built before the CHOP but after the Color
I love these night stands!!! they're so professional
Can you guys do a video doing a way to style your studio with out adding holes in your wall? I have a small studio but I can’t creat holes in my wall...
also i love recreating your creations!!!
They've done a ton of dorm room makeovers and such. Check out the rest of their vids
Ashley Oh add legs
Yes! most of their videos on dorm room make overs are decoration stuff. I really want to see them make a pallet bed frame, with MEASUREMENT for a twin size and other rustic additions.
Lauren Breyer they actually did a pallet bed in their With Wendy collab
From personal experience, coomand hooks and a brand similar have created ways to hang heavier things like this with holes and they work great
Omg !! They look super nice !!! I'm impressed with your use of power tools !!
I like this a lot. I appreciate the fact that you guys add bloopers. DIYing is NEVER as simple as it seems. lol.
I've watched your channel for more then 3 years. Why I never hit that subscribe button i don't know. Lol I am now. I love all your ideas and diys. You guys work so well together. Loving all your content. 💛💛💛
Kelsey you are fearless. So inspiring.
I love this!!! It's great for people who (like me) have a plug socket in the way of next to their bed so floating night stand is great❤️
I love this! I was at ikea recently and I thought of how cool it would be if you guys chose two random numbers (like from a hat or something) and use them as your aisle and location to find a random item that you have to create a DIY out of. Just an idea, but I love your channel!
I'm IN LOVE with these! I also really appreciate that you break it down so that it's way easier to follow for someone like me who struggles with building things
Just came across this video , it’s amazing with the cost of tools lumber etc also time saving . might just be this weekends project . Great video easy to follow . Did a amazing job
Letitia’s room was totally inspiration for me! We have a similarly shaped bedroom where the bed takes up most of the room. So floating night starts is def a good idea!
Just watched your first video out of curiosity and it absolutely warmed my heart. You girls are not only inspiring DIYers, but inspiring business women. Incredible work through the years.
The qualities of your DIYs have improved so much recently. Love each episode of it!
So i love this looks amazing ... Although once you have the box made putting the tracks just in the box would of gotten rid of the insert. Just a thought
I agree, it would have been much easier and quicker just to mount the drawer slides to the box.
Mud Puppy but with kelsey's way, it will eliminate the chances of the slides being uneven on both sides and looking wonky
Then the walls would be too wide for the drawer genius.
Kelsey's method perfectly solves the width issue but it also prevents you having to do WAY more math than necessary since she cut the frame to the Kallax measurements.
human no?? You would make the sides of the frame to fit the drawers...
The insert also covered up the wood glue and inside brackets.
I'm normally kind of skeptical of some of these DIYs, but this one was real solid. Nice job!
this was so dang creative!!! dang kelsey good work girl!
I just put together the Kallax 2x4 cabinet along with the door insert and a 2-drawer insert on Saturday for my conversion van. I like the idea of using 1 of these 1/2 height drawers to make a floating cabinet by itself. My only issue with these drawers (because I am using them in a moving vehicle) is that the drawers pop open. Yes, and what's funny is that it's only on a right hand turn. Sure a match pack will work. Gotta figure out a way to apply friction until opened by hand. Also, it's a good idea to glue the hardware in since it's just MDF.
you guys are so creative!! 💗
Regarding the imperial vs metric measurements, maybe you can do a poll to figure out what people would prefer and then the viewers can finally move past it once and for all.
heythisistiana I feel like if they want to stick to imperial for Americans they can, it would just be nice to have metric in brackets underneath or in a smaller txt size (or vise versa!)
heythisistiana or you could just search it up
Claire Mika Also, they did say that Canadian hardware stores generally use imperial, so it's what they're used to as well.
Metric.....
The whole world uses Metric. Except America.
Patent that design ladies! That's genius.
that room is sooo prettyyy
Always wanted to make a floating drawer!
You ladies did such a great job helping with the make over. Love those nightstands😀👏👏 tyfs
Your instructions were so clear!
Amazing job you guys did an awesome makeover
This is an amazing hack! You just got a new subscriber!
You guys are next-level kinds of geniuses
Ugh now I want this too!!! 😂😂😂 thanks for the video
this is such an innovation IKEA hack. i love it so much.
You guys are awesome I don't have an Ikea where I live but I tried it with almost the same thing from Target it was awesome and thanks Dad for helping me
can you guys do a kids week, like for their rooms, or toys or fashion? would be cool to see your ideas for kids.. cause kids can be expensive too!! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Now this is some quality content for my life right now! Love it.
I wish I could actually have the motivation to make this! Such talent!!
Love it! However I wish they would start giving complete totals on pricing from start to finish. Not just pricing on one part of the project... Its cool that the drawers were only $20 but how much was the laminate board, hardware, and other misc materials?
Lauren Love I think it would depend on where you purchase from materials and where you live..maybe that’s why they don’t give those details, they’re subjective to your location. Just a thought.
Why would they tell you how much something cost in Toronto if you don't live there? That would only be beneficial if everyone who watched The Sorry Girls lived in Toronto and bought their supplies at the same stores they did. All you have to do is Google the product and the price for it in your area.
Kayla M I agree you are prob correct about the price vary per location however it wouldn't be that drastic of a difference. It may be off by a few dollars. But for example say this project cost the $40 total where ever they are. Again I'm just using a random number. It may be $50 one place, $46 in another, etc. But it would never be $40 in one place and$135 in another. Am I making sense? Lol or do I sound crazy? My only point is it would be cool to know a round about or idea of price range. But yes I'm sure you are right about prices being slightly different. Hope you have a great weekend!
feverspell for the same reason beauty guru's tell you how much a make up pallet is or gamers tell you how much a video game is, or girls trying on swimsuits tell you how much they spent on them. Bc it's nice to have an idea of the price or bc some people are simply curious on what they spent. People are going to pay different shipping and tax on all of the things I mentioned above but others still say how much THEY spent on the things they bought. I'm curious on how much they spent on their project. Not how much it would cost me to do it. So who cares about where they are? Their location has absolutely nothing to do with people wanting to know what they spent on their project. Its a simple statement.
Lauren Love no one follows an IKEA hack to a t, hardly anyone actually follows their tutorials anyway.
But if you're curious (and lazy enough not to do your own research) here's some useless figures for you..
In London UK for one floating shelf=
IKEA drawers (£17 for 'two'): £8.50each
White shelving (£7 for 60x30): £14
L wall brackets (£2 each): £6
Corner brace (£2 they should have used 8 but they only used 4): £16
Wood glue (I don't know how many ml they used): £7
White wood filler: £7
Wood Screws (x38 short): £00.50
Wall Screws (x6 long): £00.50
Wall plugs (x6): £00.50
(Electricity, tool rental, travel expenses and breakfast costs not included sorry)
Total: £56 per floating shelf
(Approximate obviously)
It will probably take you about 10 hours altogether to source all your materials, tools and put it all together. And good luck finding a sturdy work bench.
You're life is different now right? This information was very important. You're welcome.
You should call them FLYTANDE, floating in Swedish! Perfect ikea name in my opinion // a swede
Rebecca L ”Flytande” translates more to like “liquid”. “Sväva” is something that is levitating without any support. With that name, we also get the ”ä” in which is super Swedish :) / another Swede
Doing this!! End tables are too big to put my bed where I wanted, this is the perfect way around that. Thank you ladies! ❤️❤️
This is a legit IKEA hack! Unlike the ones who would’ve changed the knob and that’s it. Or add washi tape and that’s it. Or spray paint and that’s it.
Hahaba
This is the most beautiful room I’ve seen ever 😭💕💕💕💕
I’m inlove with your idea and you are amaaazing. Thank you for this. You are God given people. More power.
Just GENIUS!
I built one of these from scratch! SO easy.
PLEASE DO MORE IKEA HACKS/UPCYCLES! Also, are there any power tools you recommend for beginner D.I.Yer’s?
We're actually planning a series where we do some impressive DIYs without power tools! Look out for that!
uHGGGGG love these drawers paired with those pretty hanging lightbulbs!!!!
Hi sorry girls. I love your style and you channel. It has helped me a lot with my new room makeover
yesssssss😍😍😍😍😍 best way to start my Thursday
Just what we were looking for. Thank you
I love this. It’s actually a “real Ikea hack”
Thanks for the inspiration. What a great hack! Instead of getting glued you can use a grout silicone tool. It works on just about all surfaces.
Always nailed it!
omg you guys this is so so so clever i love it ! keep up the great work
Cute!! She could also change the handles too eventually!!
This room is beautiful and those draws add so much😍great job guys😊👍
Wow, you gals are handy! 👏🌟👏🌟👏
This is such a great idea/ikea hack. ♥️♥️♥️
Genius! Loved the hack!!
you probably could’ve gone without the cardboard and just screwed the tracks to the box itself. genius idea!!
Alli Abbott I was thinking that too, but leveling them for some would be too hard basket
Love you guys so much I always get so inspired when I watch your videos and you should do another dollar store diy but the stuff you use actually has to be a dollar
this is my favourite IKEA ever, floating nightstand can go for like 200-400 CAD, and this is super customizable
Always waiting as crazy for your videos!! Hi from Dominican Republic
i love it girls, you always make such amazing furnitures and deco.
WOW!! looks amazing...
Lol when she pushed the drawer in and said woooow 😂❤️
This is a good idea. I'll probably make my box differently though. Nice hack.
I love your guys ideas, I would love for some dorm inspo and move in days are coming up soon!!!!
MORE IKEA HACKS PLS!!
You mounted them so high!!
What were those lights hanging above the night stands? Love them thanks!
Love everything you guys do. Super inspiring.
OMGOSH! YOU LADIES ARE AMAZING!!! I AM SO JELLY! XOXO
GRATEFUL
💕 MADDY
I love the FRISTANDEN nightstands! When will it be available in stores?
thats a great ideal with those box things from IKEA
I love all the first comments. Especially when there are more than one 😂
This is epic... would be perfect with a notch at the middle back for pendant light wires
I know there must be a logical reason why you guys keep doing these (mostly) solo videos but I love you guys as a team 😩
Still a super cute video obvs BUT STILL
Ça c’est du hack ! Bravo ! 👌🏻 C’est inspirant
Can you do a "hidden compartment" DIY? Would be good for dorms and shared apartments :)
You should totally get those corner straps for glueing, they have four corner pieces and can be tightened to make perfect 90 degree angles! Great for mietering and better than tape :)
I LOVE these💞💞💞Great Job!! God Bless🙏
The biggest crush on Kelsey. So smart, so kind. So beautiful. C:
Love you guys this was so smart and I want that in my room now!❤️
AMAZING!!!' 😍 i should do this in my very small tini-tiny room 💖💖 love lots all the way from the Philippines 🇵🇭 ❣️❣️❣️
hello always happy when you guys upload!
Went kind of bracket would you suggest for hanging the drawer on the wall as is, without cutting it in half?
Hi ladies! Love love love your channel. What cameras do you use for production?
We use the Sony A7s mk ii!
"Fristanden" that really cracked me up :P hahahaha!! too good! :D :D

That's exactly what I need to diy for my bedroom!
Sorrygirls!!!!! can you please make a video of the bed table that was in Letitia's room?
I really want to do this DIY! Can you do a video on starter tools to DIY?
Google translate tells me that fristående is the swedish term for freestanding so...you totally nailed it! 😁 I love them! ❤
YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING
So good!
Awesome! Although i probably would attach a different handle to make it easier to open it
