Why dont you guys mention the distances you guys are throwing these for these shots. Feel like knowing if its flying like this for a 300 or 400 foot shot would be useful info.
Except fission material, most MVP speed over 9 discs feel more overstable and less glide than Innova, prodigy or most other brands. For average 300-320 feet range players only recommend the disc like catalyst or excite from MVP for high speed. Without -2 turn, regular players can barely turn MVP disc with a flat shot to reach the maximum distance even with beat in the disc for a while. However, the best choices from MVP for slow speed players are slightly overstable fairway drive or putter., such as neutron Tesla, and Envy. Because after they get beat in they fly very straight with a nice fade in. Really wish they can make more Amp, that’s my favorite disc play in technical courses.
If your arm speed only allow you reach average 320 feet but you want some disc can reach or closer to 350-400 range, Innova Tern, Corvette, shryke; prodigy D2, D3 might be better choice. Really feel MVP is not for distance but for control.
@@thor9722 Agree with that statement 100%. I bag MVP Fission Photon and Tesla but I only use em for forced flex forehand as they are reliably OS. My buddies throw Terns, and I throw Shyrkes, and D2, D3, D4 and they are all much less OS and more glidey than almost any MVP disk I've thrown. I've seen some folks get the Insanity to go straight, but I generally can't. I have one with a light on it for night time forehand.
@thor9722 good feedback! @daemn42 I have a 168gm Neutron Insanity that I can definitely get some turn out of, it flies beautifully. As a comparison I have a 167gm Champ Valkyrie that gets no turn at all, and I have had it for 2 years. I average around 320 - 360 max with both discs.
I mean insanity is the most flippy disc in my bag flys almost exactly like my glo z heat. photon is a great s line forehand disc. wave is a super flippy good driver. if you want to throw mvp 13 speeds or higher you need to throw them lightweight and put your ego aside. grab a 158-162 panic.
yeah when i saw him demo this disc in his video i was like 'ok is this Simon stable or normal human stable'. I feel lots of the discmania line were stable tuned to simon and eagles speed. Seems this proto run is similar. Simon hyzer flips it looking like he barely throws it and normal person throw it's a hook. lol
I like a disc like this, I had a Daredevil sabertooth and it was 9/5/0/5 ( not quite.) But I had it as a utility disc for a long time until I broke it in real good and it turned into a nice slightly ani-flex driver. Fun to toss.
I saw Simon throwing and he was having issues with it being so overstable. Cant see it being a disc for am's other than the cool factor which I really like the look of it.
We are not pros. We already own a disc like this and never use it. Hopefully his next disc is something useful because I want to support, but not for something that just takes shelf space.
interested to see where the normal run comes in i generally throw flat to anny so should but nice fit with the glide. one of the things i like about the scorch is it glides for days and makes my baby arm look mid LOL
I find it peculiar that no one tries the Phase from MVP. If you want overstable, you don't beat a Phase. You guys should try it and a Defy it really compliments the overstable side. 👌
In a past vlog Simon said he sent his favorite Discmania discs to MVP to be fitted with overmold. Assume those were the models for his line of signature MVP discs?
\ I think that statement was based on his experience with his own prototypes and he did say this limited run was much more OS. Hopefully the stock run will be less OS.
Simon is the current master of subtle marketing in vids. Every disc he showcases is his favorite disc. Notice how smooth he is during vlogs in rolling out a mumbled statement about how good his current disc is. Quite the salesman mixed with his boyish charm.
MVP seems like they've worked very hard to understand and control the molding process so they probably designed the mold too overstable. Mark this 12 4 0 4 and go next.
Sounds like you wanted to like it more than you did and spent the video trying to talk yourselves into it. Hard not to be biased I'm sure. It is clearly too beefy for the flight numbers and what it is billed to be. So saying "Simon nailed it, really hit it out of the park with this one" That sentence did match what you said throughout the video. lol. No one wants to criticize simon's first disc, so I get it.
It’s annoying that disc manufacturers can’t produce disc with enough quality controls that they can give you the same flight characteristics each time you purchase the same disc. Take this video as an example, they immediately warn you that the production run will fly differently. What’s the point of reviews then? I’ve lost track how many Star Destroyers I’ve bought over the years always trying to find the run that matches the flight characteristics of my first ones. Even Simon has said that these Timelapse are “more over-stable than expected”. Shouldn’t MVP be delivering on Simons visions for his line and not whatever just happens… This was a missed opportunity by Simon and MVP. They should’ve used the launch of the Simon Line to be DG first Premium Line of disc that guarantees quality. Each disc has been “Flight Tested” or “Laser Scanned to ensure dimensions”. Every other sport has entry level equipment and pro level high quality equipment (for a premium price as well) I just want to find a disc that I love and be able to purchase a replacement after the original is lost or worn out. You’d think pros would be demanding this as well, especially if their name/brand is attached.
Subjective, but at the end of the day your opinion does NOT generate the most profit and that's proven by the history of disc manufacturers. It's not quality issues as much as marketing play.
@@anhpham2733 Its a fact that every disc sold has variable flight characteristics from run to run. What sets you apart from your competitors is what makes you successful in business. How would they be making less money by spending a few extra bucks during manufacturing to ensure quality and then selling the disc for a premium at $40? That’s higher profit margins. The only way this would equal less cash is if the disc didn’t sell… however, that’s why you’ve got Simon, the best selling brand in disc golf. I would think Simon would be thrilled to have his brand be associated with top quality. Also, don’t discount vanity. There’s a reason a large part of our economy is higher prices just because of branding. (Polo shirts, Nike, etc..) again, every other sport does this because it does work and it is more profitable but you’re right, other manufacturers haven’t figured this out yet and keep pumping out unreliable quality. This sport needs a higher level product category to be successful long term. Can’t attract those kinds of sponsors until that’s fixed.
@@TheGreatestJuJu This has been a problem forever. Twenty years ago, Discraft was much more consistent from run to run than Innova, but as they've grown, that's gone away. If real consistency could be achieved at scale without being prohibitively expensive, someone would have done it by now.
@@TheGreatestJuJu First of all it's a PROTOTYPE run and that's why they are selling it for $40. The demand is there and that is a fact. MVP sets themselves apart from other competitors are their sponsors AND their gyro technology. That is what they have been marketing since it's inception. If you have been in the DG industry long enough you would know that it's production run consistency that matters, NOT the entire line. I think the 'pro's' probably don't really care about discs being inconsistent because they get given piles of discs so can just choose whichever ones they like, certainly more annoying for half decent amateurs as when you've bonded with and then lost a disc unless you're mad you're not going to buy 20 trying to find a similar one.
What's stupid about the name? Discs have names ranging from anything to everything. Discs are named with little to no relation to what the disc does. In a different reality Firebirds are actually Destroyers and Destroyers are called Firebirds. The name sounds cool, thats pretty much the criteria for 95% of disc names. But if you're in the know, Simon explained why he named the disc Time Lapse. Go look it up. Also: it sounds cool.
Hunter: I’m going to throw flat, Trevor will throw anhyzer, I'll throw hyzer.
Trevor: I’m going to throw it flat
No one ever threw hyzer😂

any review video that doesnt state or post distances is nearly useless.
Lot of people are gonna buy this disc and not have the arm for it similar to Rives.
This is way more beef than a rive
Rives beat it pretty quick
This is supposed to be the most overs table run Simon talked ab it in a bodanza video
Yeah and a beat in rive will flex like crazy
You just described most most distance drivers regardless of company.

When do these come out
Proto is Sep 20th. First run/stock is coming in Oct.
Really cool design. And it looks like it would basically be a utility disc for me.

If the stock run is understable then this is perfect. First run is for Simon, second will be more like the destroyer where even weak arms can flip it
Destroyers are so inconsistent the amount that you're actually able to flip is so rare until immense beat in or get very lucky with your runs.
Do you think it will too beefy for someone throwing forehand at slower speeds?
Probably but they might offer it in lower weights, which would help.
Yes. It’s a 12 speed. I’m sure you need some power to get it flying
I saw Simon throwing and he was having issues with it being so overstable. Cant see it being a disc for am's other than the cool factor which I really like the look of it.
Can you do a follow-up to this with the stock run?
Great video
If these two call it a beef cake, I've got no shot
Solid review!
Waiting for the Simon line 9 or 10 speed!
I’m just gonna wait to find one of these up a tree

You should have a flight tracker. Can't see the disc.
How do you think it compares to the defy? The flights look similar.
It is a more glidey defy, gotta throw it really hard
I find the Defy to be surprisingly flippy, and I'm 315ish ft field avg, max 417 ft. Am I nuts?
@mattrobnett58 nope same deal for me!

Omg the phase is bruuuutal 😅
The Phase lol. That disc is fucking un-usable. I’m sorry bout there is no use for it. No disc has come out of my bag as fast. 🙄

Same exact numbers as the Zeus. Does it fly similar
Not even close
"I was watching him flip it, which makes me feel like a tiny little boy"
Meowdy 🤠 good review
Gonnna get it in 130 grams so I can actually throw it lol
Keeping my eyes on the Certified Used section!
Everyone dreaming that the stock run will fly straight for them with good glide.
Nice
Sounds like yall want a Fission one
And got to understand, Simon is making these discs for superb arms. Not your recreational throwing arms.
how on earth does simon hyzer flip a disc that stable??
He's a professional and we're not 😢
He has insane powe and strength
Simon did say these prototypes are the most overstable that there’s gonna be
Comparable to a halo destroyer??
I may check out the stock run, or wait for a used stock run thats beat up.
Sooooo…this is a Force…?
I think Simon kinda lied about it being "A disc for everyone". A beefy destroyer is not for everyone.

It's definitely destroyer numbers for Simon. And how dare you give it 4 glide. It has substantial glide compared to other MVP bombers.
Nope
Looks like an Anax flight
Anyone not with a big arm this disc is gonna be useless....buy a disc you're never gonna use not me lol

Such a lame marketing manipulation line. This expensive prototype run is way more stable than the later cheaper stock runs.
