Been a few years since i flew, wow the tech has come a long way. Looks so nice, no static etc. Nice to see your channel still going Josh, you are the go to guy for info.
The fact that you no longer need an action camera is definitely the main selling point of this unit. If quality is more or less the same then I am definitely in.
I see so many people concerned with the quality of footage after the flight, but for me having the amazing live view quality of the Goggles 2 is the best part of flying. For FPV I really find the best experience is while you're actually flying and in control, not watching the footage afterwards. The detail and clarity in the Goggles 2 is insane!

JBs video on this is the best I've seen so far, as usual, nice work Joshua! Other reviewers are obsessing about the 4k dvr footage, I care more about compatibility and how it looks on the v2 goggles! Thanks for including that info

I've never flown with digital but a couple months ago I did get a set of V2 goggles when they got marked down. Hopefully by spring I'll have a digital setup ready to fly and that will be my upgrade for now. This latest system will be a couple years down the road but I'm happy to see improvements and progress from all HD manufacturers.
Bro, Black Friday is in a few days. I suggest you go out and find yourself a Caddx Vista or Runcam Link (only the cameras are different) and get flying DJI digital RIGHT AWAY! Try to get a 120fps camera...i.e....not a Polar and not a Nebula Nano V2, and not a Link with the Phoenix camera. Those are all 60fps cameras. They have about 10ms of extra latency. Still very flyable, but get a 120fps to see what the potential is. Go for a Caddx Nebula Pro, Nebula Pro Nano, or a Runcan Link with the Falcon camera. The Wasp camera from Runcam also has 120fps, but no adjustable parameters for saturation, contrast, etc. in the V2 goggles, and it's stuck in 4:3 aspect ratio - So you only get the square 4:3 image (Old CRT TV image size), not an HD rectangular image of 16:9. The most these RETAIL for is $165. That's ALL YOU NEED! Not that much to get flying digital!!! 😁 - AND, you'll not want to fly analog much ever again once you fly digital - IT'S SO DAMN GOOD! 😎🤘
@@KOrnhOliO1 Agreed, 120fps is a must, especially if you are just starting with the system DO NOT use a 60fps camera, only use those for night time flying when you fully understand the latency & have been flying a while! Thank you as always for all the great info. Joshua. DJI really needs to improve fit / comfort of “Goggles2”. My biggest complaint at the moment. Thanks again for n!!! 👍👍👍
Thanks a ton Joshua. You're still the best with giving the right amount of information on a product. That is a big step in HD fpv. And if I have extra money in the future I probably will switch to O3. But for now my V1 goggles are plenty for me. I don't really need extra resolution, normally I zoom out the picture in them because of very big FOV, so that leaves only slightly better signal quality and it is really not enough for me to start changing my gear to new system ).
I did that when I first started flying DJI digital. But, after a while of getting used to something like a 70% or 80% of the full FOV, I have stepped the screen size (FOV) up to 90% now, and I'm soon gonna try 100% again. Try slowly moving that FOV up. It's sure immersive! :)
I'd really appreciate that mentioned video about considering DJI vs Walksnail vs HD Zero. As an flyer that's been grounded for 2 years and used the analogue "Mr Steele" setup, modernising to HD era is something I'm looking into. As always, amazing detail and information Josh 👌
Not really a fan of action cameras for fpv. The O3 Air Unit is the one I need!!! Going to have pros and cons but definitely an upgrade. Amazing how far we’ve come along with technology.
One thing no one mentions about the goggles2 is that their lenses have a much smaller sweet spot than the V2, and must be very tightly adjusted to avoid blurriness. This made me decide to go with the V2 immediately after trying them both out
to make googles so small there are too many sacrifices that have to be made, I learned that with the HD2. The V2 is in the a perfect place between large box goggles and the small ones like the goggles 2
i agree i have the v2 goggles which are really box goggles and a pair of old dominators and i am still content with both them. there's not enough improvement to justify 600- 1k for a new set of goggles and a air unit, just being realistic. if i didn't have the v2 already it might be different. besides when flying im not stopping to smell the roses at those speeds so an improved image would be for recording at most and just use an older gopro session 5 for that
The DJI Goggles 2 are selling for $649 as of November 22, 2022. Thanks for the review JB. I just pre-ordered two O3 transmitters/cameras. It will be great to add Avata quality video to my DYI quads and planes.

I'm not able to publicly post flight footage due to conflict of interest with my job and I don't work professionally as a videographer/cinematographer so the on board video on this air unit is perfect for me. I'm gonna get the new goggles and basically factor in the cost of a new gopro which puts the goggles at $250. I don't have a digital system and my current goggles are HDO v1 so it's time lol. Thanks for the info JB!
Someone called you out last night on the Q&A saying the air unit 03 was on your desk! I knew you were fibbing when you said no absolutely not! 😂😂😂 well maybe the one on the table wasn’t, but you did indeed have it! 😂😂
I like flying the O3 air unit. The quality is what I expected. I do have to say I LOVE the new goggles. Huge improvement there imo. Obviously having my choice of antenna would be better, but for what it is I’m sold
You already have it in an fpv quad? Or do you have the Avata? The new goggles aren't much of an improvement over the old ones and in many cases people like the old ones better. Most reviews on UA-cam reflect the same sentiment.
@@dangerous8333 It was in a 5” fpv quad, I was just helping build with the new system and got the opportunity to fly them. I think it’s the form factor of the goggles I enjoy the most. They fit my face without any light leak and I didn’t have to modify them. They’re light on the noggin. The IPD adjustment of the goggle got rid of the blurriness I experienced in the v1 &v2 goggles when I had the lens evenly spaced. Usually I had to fly with the lenses all the way to one side to get a clear picture. Although more testing is needed in general. Those were my quick initial thoughts of the new system.
@@ChomperFPV Oh okay. I'm getting the new air unit but already have the V2 goggles. I need to buy the freaking remote because I doubt they'll release a module for my Tango 2, so I'm hoping I don't want/need the new goggles. There's no way for me to try them without buying them though.
I will wait for the portability with the vista since I will probably only buy an O3 system and keep my 6 quads with the vista, The question is "Will the vista image improve in the new glasses when it is compatible because they are OLED?"
When I bought my Avata, I was hesitant buying it with the goggles 2, because so many people complain about the fit, especially pressing on the nose... and I have a beak... but I went for the goggles 2 and so happy that I did. They are a perfect fit and a lot more comfortable than the v2s, with my glasses on. The decision now is which of my quads get the new Air O3!
I'd take that OLED statement with a massive grain of salt. I tried both of these goggles with Avata and could barely tell any difference. Biggest difference with the goggles 2 and v2 was that the FOV of the goggles 2 is MUCH smaller and they don't get fully focused despite the adjustments.
I bought the Avata with the goggles 2 as my first fpv and ever since I’ve watched so many of your videos. Looks like I’ll be buying a quad with the 03 air unit and learn to do some mountain surfing and chasing my friends on their mountain bikes here in Switzerland 🇨🇭 Thanks for all work you put into your videos!
Josh, Thank you for making this very informative review. You and @Kabab, have provided exactly what I needed to make a selection for my first FPV drone.
I want this for my 4 inch long range. Saves weight by replacing the action cam. Deff getting one for that build. Sticking eith Vista on my bando basher
Thanks JB, Great review. With some of the limitations of the G2 goggles, waitting is a great idea. I fly V1 with Analog Fusion mounted on the sde and love the ability to use one set of goggles. Will the G2's be able to receive the Fusion rx like the V1 & V2?? Any way, well done video as usual.
32:11 Maybe around 600 US$? The only store I found here in France (official DJI retailer) lists them at 850€. So 1100€ for google + a full o3 system... outch
I have the Avata, and it looks like the same setup. Glad there is a screw mount option, but I think most just double-side tape it to the frame anyway (I like screws TBH...) The fit of the camera up front is definitely going to be an issue, especially if frame manufacturers have to redesign for just 3-4mm of extra width. The quality of the Avata camera is pretty decent, so maybe some will use it instead of a GoPro, to save weight. Great review as always!!!!
Sorry if I missed something when you were talking about the antennas on the goggles 2. But the little fold down antennas just pull out and there is a connector inside there.
Hi..dear..again as usual you are the number 1..thanks for you amazing explanation..I have just 1 issues. I wasn't able to bind the new air unit O3 with the googles V2..I tried all..updated software..please any concern?. Thanks
Great video. Maybe I missed it but if I use the 03 air unit with my V2 goggles, will I have the beta flight OSD? Or is that a feature that is part of the new goggles2?
Thanks for the review. I have been waiting for the OC3 air unit since I got the Avata. So happy I can use the Dji rc on my apex now. Love the avata but love the 6s 5” better.
I purchased the DJI integra to try out the Dji 03 air unit but prefer using it with the FPV goggles v2. The picture quality looks so good on the older goggles, and it is more comfortable for me to wear. The size and weight are marginal for me so I’ll go the route of buying the Dji 03 to replace all my old caddx units. Once the goggles 3 adds support for the Dji o3, I will switch over to that moving forward.
Love that shirt! Also even though I don’t change much as for gear still like the info. The old air unit replaced my gopro. Even though I have new 11mini. But wouldn’t use it on quad to heavy and prefer older air units. #1 smaller controller works # 2 new form factor those are my favorites things that could cause me to upgrade.
Getting back to hobby after few years O3 looks very interesting quality is very acceptable * no more separate cam -less weight and cost* but its costly taking into consideration i need all HD gear setup right now things adds up really fast ,ive been flying analog last time and sold it all since i could not afford to buy new drone and cam (ive lost my Flywoo LR :/ ) hopefully that prices will go down after 11th april considering also used stuff to get into air in a moth or so. Tnx for all detailed vids , helps a lot.
Got back into FPV this year after taking a few years hiatus. I was torn between getting new analog goggles or digital goggles. I think I was happy to stick to analog. I think I mostly like the idea of stretching an analog signal as far as possible. I plan on including digital in my arsenal in the future, and with stuff like the walksnail VRX coming out, it’s gonna be easier than ever.
Same , last I flew fpv was 2018 still have my dominator v3. Got back into it last month along with cp helicopters. For as far as I fly , my dominators do just fine. Would like to try digital but that latency would be annoying for me.
@@MrDVCHITTer latency isn't as bad as you think, i had Dom v3s for 4yrs and loved them, then switched to DJI and i soon realised how bad Dom V3s really are compared to Digital, it's a whole new flying experience. As for Analogue, I'm not sure why anyone would choose it over digital nowadays.
As always JB you present the best points of view to evaluate from to make decisions to hold or buy. Flying for the immersive FPV experience seems DJI is still king. I want way beyond what still has yet to be pioneered and made for consumers. Seems only DJI has the level of viability and R&D funds to create STABLE non BETA working products. Non on a tech level to just go create and engineer what I see is inevitably coming. All the parts and pieces and features are still all spread around; NONE, save for perhaps the military well beyond consumer. Thanx for your continued devotion and passion for teaching in this hobby with the attention to contrast comparative detail that you and only you do. Happy Holidays
I knew a long time ago I wanted to get into DJI, currently I just have my Radiomaster (eachiene) tx16x flashed with with edge tx radio but haven't gotten to a build yet, been spending all my time in simulators, but I've always learned the most from your videos, now I just need to hold out a little longer and go with the goggles 2 and the o3 controller also need to get my commercial license as my step mom is now a realtor and I have proposed a business deal with her once I get my license to get some shots of houses. So once I'm ready to make my first couple builds I'll be using the affiliate links.. I wanna make a cinewoop for that stuff and I want to make me a good freestyle drone, thanks for the informative videos.
awesome video as always. Would have liked to hear about compatibility towards the original dji google (v1?) and I think you missed to tell that the new OLED goggle has 2 seperate screens. happy flying keep up the great work :)
Awesome vid - thanks! I ordered the O3 right aways when I saw their release mail. It has to be good! There will be some downsides - but the Vistas were already so good over the last few years - made FPV so much more fun for me. Now the hard part: in wich of my many copters or planes will I place this first ;)

Nice review sir.
I bought the Avata with the goggles 2 as my first fpv and ever since I’ve watched so many of your videos. Looks like I’ll be buying a quad with the 03 air unit and learn to do some mountain surfing and chasing my friends on their mountain bikes here in Switzerland 🇨🇭
Thanks for all work you put into your videos!
That's awesome I use V2 goggles and air unit and I hope I can go surf mountains in Switzerland because I'm not very far
Josh,
Thank you for making this very informative review. You and @Kabab, have provided exactly what I needed to make a selection for my first FPV drone.
Love the honesty, Joshua. Thank you so much!
Nice review JB 👍🏼 saving the weight of an action is a game changer. Hope to see more comparison on video quality
32:11 Maybe around 600 US$? The only store I found here in France (official DJI retailer) lists them at 850€. So 1100€ for google + a full o3 system... outch
Joshua!!! Have you made a video explaining transmission settings for o3?
Going from air unit to o3 and gosh, so many settings!!!!!!
Great review. I’m sticking with analog 😊
Thanks
I love the googles, but i hate the right angled plug it doesnt match with the goggles dc input placement.
YES, the abbreviated live stream was well worth it!!!
Thanks for the review JB!
Great video. Maybe I missed it but if I use the 03 air unit with my V2 goggles, will I have the beta flight OSD? Or is that a feature that is part of the new goggles2?
@@loraerial thanks for the reply. So it seems the osd is only with 03 air unit AND goggles 2
@@loraerial how did you get OSD working? I'm on BF4.3 but doesn't work. thanks!
Thanks for the review. I have been waiting for the OC3 air unit since I got the Avata. So happy I can use the Dji rc on my apex now. Love the avata but love the 6s 5” better.
Thank you for this nice video!
7:40 Bardwell has never heard of subpixels :)
excellent video.... but I'll be able to use my DJI "V 1" goggles?
Great video as always but... was that two teepee's I saw on your property
Great review JB, as always. This could possibly put my old Session 5's out of commission. Very interesting!
Very thorough review! Nice.
If you have the avata the 03 is for you but the frames need to catch up to the swole camera. Ready and waiting.
Love that shirt! Also even though I don’t change much as for gear still like the info. The old air unit replaced my gopro. Even though I have new 11mini. But wouldn’t use it on quad to heavy and prefer older air units.
#1 smaller controller works
# 2 new form factor those are my favorites things that could cause me to upgrade.
Dji is King 💪👽🤟
THE ONBOARD VIDEO dvr recording from the air unit at 25:10 gave me a headache lol i want your wheels on my atlas blue gt!!
If not buying a 500 go pro im in. Thank for all your years of free info.
Hello, the polarity of the antennas of both the goggles and the 03 air unit are LHCP.
I love that T shirt JB 😃
Great video. Didn't even know this existed and I've been putting off building a drone for a while. This might just be what I've wanted.
Very impressive
The antennas on the goggles 2 snap in. They pop off if you pull straight out.
I wanna make a cinewoop for that stuff and I want to make me a good freestyle drone, thanks for the informative videos.
is it possible change the output power of the O3 using the v2 goggles?
No. That function is the same with both goggles.
we have tried to fly 4 avatas at our field at same time no go three works fine
Hi joshua , the top antennas are removable. Pull them, it’s a clickable connector
awesome video as always. Would have liked to hear about compatibility towards the original dji google (v1?) and I think you missed to tell that the new OLED goggle has 2 seperate screens.
happy flying keep up the great work :)
There is no compatibility with V1 goggle at all.
very good, thanks
Awesome vid - thanks! I ordered the O3 right aways when I saw their release mail. It has to be good!
There will be some downsides - but the Vistas were already so good over the last few years - made FPV so much more fun for me.
I'm curious if the onboard footy will be good enough - but it looks like. Also love the fact that I can use my V2 goggles!
Now the hard part: in wich of my many copters or planes will I place this first ;)
Dude I love your shirt 🤣
